  1. 1. 360 or PS3

Recommended Posts

I'd get an Xbox 360; I think they have a much better spread of games - are a little cheaper than then PS3 (the graphics are better on the PS3, but not noticeably), and having played on all the latest gen consoles my friends have (I'm still a Laptop gaming man :xp:), the 360 is the one that has impressed me the most.

I still have the original working Xbox, I purchase when KOTOR came out (again purchasing a console for just one game). The only problem I’ve had with it is it became outdated.

Now the 360 is another matter, while I believe their customer service did a good job of replacing my unit, it still upset me that it had the design problem causing the overheating to begin with. It is understandable, but not when you are in the middle of saving the galaxy from the Reapers.

My PS1 lasted for over seven years. My 2004 PS2 lasts 'till today. My Xbox showed the 3RL problem after one year. Based on my personal experiences, Micro$oft can kiss my ass. :xp:

All of my consoles still work, I just took care of them :xp:

Ya, I had a PS1 for about 2 years, and worked pretty well, and then got a PS2. I had that for about 4 years until it wouldn't play the games. I don't really know what happened to it, and about a year ago I got a new PS2. Works great, but the thing is, as far as I know, they have pretty much halted making new games. I have had my original Xbox for about 3 years, and is still working just fine. The thing with that too, is that no new game are coming out for it. It is outdated. The problem that I don't want to see is that if I got a Xbox 360 and had it for about a year, it too would become outdated. That is my main fear. I don't really see how video games consoles could get all that much better for a while.

All of my friends have 360's too, so they keep telling me to get one. :|

there really isn't much of a reason to get a PS3. on the technical side, it has more horsepower than the 360, but i have yet to see a game that looks significantly better on the PS3 when compared to the 360. it also has Blu-ray, but that advantage keeps slipping away as Microsoft continues to add more and more HD movie options over Xbox Live. the major downside to all that tech in the PS3 means that it costs more.

and when it comes to games, there are very few exclusive titles on the PS3 that are worth playing. the 360, on the other hand, has quite a few exclusives that are worth playing ranging from Mass Effect to Gears of War. IMHO, that's reason enough to get a 360 instead of a PS3.

in the end, though, PC pwnz all. XD

360.

Cheaper.

Better games.

Bigger selection of games.

Unless you watch a lot of movies, who cares about Blu-ray?

PS-3 ? There's only one exclusive game that doesn't suck.

Since acquiring the Elite, never had a problem. (quickly knocks on wood)

Much more comfortable controller.

Is it? The "exclusives you mentioned have all been ported to the PC. And I have no doubts their sequels will inevitably be as well. That's one of the things that upsets me with M$ consoles.

Pretty much untrue. Heck, we've even TFU coming for it. But, yeah, the releases of great hits have naturally diminished. Besides, PS2 library is so big you can enjoy some great games that you probably never even heard of for cheap prices. I do buy every two weeks or so some game I missed and I have a lot of fun.

Yes, before I bought my unit I had this same fear. Seeing how M$ simply dumped the original Xbox when 360 was released, what keep them from doing the same with it's next console?

But I'd say such fears aren't as real as they seem; thinking that way you'll never buy a console. It really isn't a now or never situation. ;)

But, my vote is still for the Xbox 360. Anyone who judges the 360 simply because of Halo is just stupid (not that i'm saying you did, Schmorgy :)).

I'm also speaking as a PC owner here. If you don't have anything that can play games, then a 360 probably would be the better choice, but seeing as how every game that I would want if I had a 360 is also available on PC, I have absolutely no need to get one. The PS3 suits me better.

I don't really think either console is "better." It just depends on the wants/needs of the person buying it.

I own a 360 and am generally very pleased with it. The 360 does have a few technical errors that can be easily avoidable if you treat it better then any other of your consoles. Most of their games are on the PC true. But most games that are, you need an extremely good computer for which most people do not have the time and energy to invest in. The 360 works perfectly well and you can also play against people playing on the PC.

Also with the multiplayer argument. The PS3 may have free multiplayer true. But all of its multiplayer is full of laggy servers chock full of racist homophobic slandering gamers. The 360's are almost completely lag free (Depending on what game and server) and some games I have played on (mostly GTA IV) are actually mature gamers who offer to help you. So here is the conclusion. PS3 has lower quality multiplayer because you don't pay and 360 has better quality multiplayer because you pay. Plus I like all the original xbox games you can play on it and buy off of the market place.

The only thing I would want to do on the 360 is that online world thing that they included.

The 360 does have a very comfortable controller that feels like it is actually built exactly for your own hands. It is very good for FPS games due to the trigger parts (Though the PS3 has the same kind). Something I really like about the controller is if you have the wired one (Or the wireless. I am not sure) You can use it as a gamepad on your PC which is a major plus.

In closing the 360 can also play KOTOR and KOTOR 2 on it.

And they say Microsoft has crap customer service. pfft.

Whoever says that is an idiot, I have to say. I got my 360 back in no more than 2 weeks, I only had to call them once, and it was very quick, and it was actually enjoyable talking with customer service.

@Cygnus: That one exclusive game just so happens to be acontinuation of my second fav series, MGS.

I would recommend you read the hundreds of stories on the Xbox forums about people and customer service.

Not very well, but yes you can play them. At least it is better than trying to play KOTOR or TSL on Vista.

I would get a PS3 if it wasn't so friggin' expensive! Thats why I'm waiting a few years for the price to lower into something more decent.

Now, I've played the Wii before, and absolutly loved it (especially when playing Dragonball Z: Budokai Tenkaichi 3 :spikehair )

If you get one now, or you get it repaired, you will have no problems with it. (personal experience ;))

Oh, and DO NOT have it upright, or move it around while a dsic is inside, it can damage the disc to the point of unplayable (personal experience again)

My 360 plays both VERY well.

^ Trying to play a lot of games on Vista is a pain. But man, when you get 'em working.. I mean really working... It's... frankly not worth the headache. I went back to XP.

I voted 360, but I was torn. I honestly haven't extensively gamed on a PS3, so I didn't really feel justified in voting. All I can say is I've never had even the slightest technical problem with my 360 (I'm lucky, I guess). The only time I've seen the RRD is during momentary power outages during a thunderstorm or something.

Honestly, I agree with what others said above. Each console caters to different needs. And everyone has different needs.

I treat all my electronic equipment very well. I have still own a 8-track tape player and a Laser disc player that work. I know how to take care of equipment, but I still got the RRD. It does not matter how you treat the 360 on the older models RRD can happen at anytime. I’m sure if you abuse the equipment it could happen faster or more frequently, but even if you treat it with kid gloves it can happen. That said, the 360 is worth the danger or I would have waited for my replacement instead of purchasing a second one.

Mine plays the game well, it is the sound that is a little off.
