Serpentine Cougar
Metroid (on the GBA) is about the only side-scroller I've ever played and liked. Well, maybe Cave Story, as well.
ChAiNz.2da
The bestest side-scroller in the world. evah. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impossible_Mission we are talking old school right?
Prime
The bestest side-scroller in the world. evah. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Impossible_Mission we are talking old school right? OMG awesome! I don't know how many hours I sunk into that game on the C64. My sister was just a toddler at the time, but I remember she totally loved it when you fell down the pit and it had that really long scream. I need to get an emulator and play this!! Great Scott!
I don't think they're very pricey on eBay.
Mav
And speaking of robotic sports, tk, how about Super Baseball 2020? I remember that game. Don't emulate. Appreciate! When talking about games and systems that have long since been out of print, I see no problem with emulating. The only possible other way to play these games would be to get a used system/game and the companies wouldn't see a dime off of used software sales. So the whole "stealing from the developers" things doesn't really apply if you ask me. Altered Beast.TK, you win. Agreed I was mostly a Sega Gen. guy, so other games I can think of are Streets of Rage, but my cousin had a S/NES so there are games like Contra (Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start), and I fondly remember playing TMNTIV:Turtles in Time with my cousin. I think Inyri mentioned it, but Super Metroid as well, and you can't really go wrong with a Megaman game.
Inyri
I appreciate... being able to emulate games I have sitting in my basement on my computer where they're more handy, more portable, and more... uh, better?
GeneralPloKoon
Emulators rule! But playing the original is just more....comforting.

DeadYorick
My favorite Side Scroller was quite possibly... Paperboy. I am planning to get it on my 360 very soon via Xbox Live
Ctrl Alt Del
I was more of a Sega Genesis kind of guy. Win. Metal Slug series. I used to love those games. Win. Paperboy. Win. Also, Golden Axe and Altered Beast. Win. Another one: Streets of Rage. Don't forget to call the cops.
Aash Li
I liked the battle of midway or whatever it was called. It was an arcade game where you played fighter plans and you had to blow up different battle ships. The end boss was the Yamamoto. You got power up in the form of lasers, machine guns (rapid fire ones), and bombs, and little fighter drones. I remember hours of brainless shooting on Yars Revenge too. Great Scott!
I never watched the show, but one of my favorite side-scrollers is on the NES. I'm sure the sequel is good as well.
