Yar-El Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Article - Man recovering after being shot by his dog The 23-year-old suffered injuries to his legs and buttocks A man who was accidentally shot by a 12-gauge shotgun on Saturday after his dog jumped into a boat is recovering. Matthew Marcum's legs and buttocks were injured in the bizarre incident and he was taken to Legacy Emanuel Hospital & Health Center in Portland. Marcum's father, Henry, said his 23-year-old son was about to tie up an 11-foot open aluminum boat, when his 3-year-old Labrador, Drake, jumped into the boat. Matthew Marcum said his dog, Drake, is a good dog and he isn't upset with him. *Pauses for a moment, and then breaks out laughing* :animelol: :animelol:
Det. Bart Lasiter Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Well, this is definitely a topic ripe for discussion.
CommanderQ Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Oy, this is weird...and its true!!!! :D THIS IS HILARIOUS!!
mimartin Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Nice story to tell the grandkids when he gets older about how grandpa got shot in the butt by a dog. Maybe it will teach them about gun safety. Glad to see he isn’t upset with the dog, because the dog wasn’t the one stupid enough to have a shell chambered in the shotgun while driving a boat.
Chevron 7 locke Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 I find this.... Hillarious!!!!!! what a good dog!
Darth333 Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 PETA people must be calling this "animals revenge"...
Chevron 7 locke Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Who cares what PETA has to say? Was the shotgun pointing at the guy? or did the dog somehow turn the gun around when he jumped in?
Lance Monance Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 aww, Labradors are so cute. I know, it's kind of unrelated but it has to be said.
Darth333 Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Who cares what PETA has to say? Was the shotgun pointing at the guy? or did the dog somehow turn the gun around when he jumped in? I wasn't being serious...this is pure bad luck. No one could have really expected the dog to accidentally "pull the trigger", even if the gun would have been pointing at the guy.
Astor Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Maybe it will teach them about gun safety. Very true. I'd like to know this - why did the guy need a shotgun in the boat with him in the first place?
CommanderQ Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 Perhaps this thing was staged!!!! {no, that'd be ridiculous...} That is a very good question, Astor, perhaps he lives in gator country, but it's still plausible...
mimartin Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 I'd like to know this - why did the guy need a shotgun in the boat with him in the first place? Big scary Bass I've taken a shotgun in a canoe many times while duck hunting putting out decoys and getting out to the blind. I have also taken boat/canoe to get out to my deer blind. I was however taught to remove the shell from the chamber before getting into a vehicle (that includes boats), going over a fence or climbing into my blind. I usually have the chamber open and the safety on when doing anything except hunting.
Yar-El Posted November 25, 2008 Author Posted November 25, 2008 *Mentally replays a scene from The Mummy.* What are the chances of having a loaded gun with the safety off, sitting in your boat, and it just so happens to be pointed at you while the dog jumps in? PETA people must be calling this "animals revenge"... Very true. I'd like to know this - why did the guy need a shotgun in the boat with him in the first place? Duck hunting?
TriggerGod Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 I'm reminded of this one incident a group of penguins got a hold of shotguns. PETA's revenge? AND RIGHT BEFORE TURKEY DAY TOO.
Emperor Devon Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 This is a perfect example of everything that's wrong with our media.
CommanderQ Posted November 25, 2008 Posted November 25, 2008 You know, Triggergod, this could be the beginning of a series of attacks lead by animals in vengeance against PETA. Tomorrow it'll probably be "PETA president pushed off cliff by cat," so it begins....
Hallucination Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 I get it! It's funny because he got shot! lololololololol Bad luck =/= funny. =/
Sabretooth Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 You know, Triggergod, this could be the beginning of a series of attacks lead by animals in vengeance against PETA. Tomorrow it'll probably be "PETA president pushed off cliff by cat," so it begins.... Why would animals want vengeance against PETA?
Chevron 7 locke Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Cause PETA is really annoying. I think the guy forgot to feed the dog and this was the dog "Persuading" him to feed him
CommanderQ Posted November 26, 2008 Posted November 26, 2008 Oy, you know, I don't know why animals would like vengeance against Peta, well maybe they're trying to take over the world, I don't know why... *takes a bite out of his turkey*
EnderWiggin Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 This is a perfect example of everything that's wrong with our media. I get it! It's funny because he got shot! lololololololol Bad luck =/= funny. =/ Yes and yes and cows with guns. _EW_
Q Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Well, that's what he gets for naming his dog "Cheney." [/bad joke]
Sabretooth Posted November 27, 2008 Posted November 27, 2008 Yes and yes and cows with guns. _EW_ And by the inclusion of this piece of sheer brilliance, I declare this thread salvaged beyond reckoning. \m/
