Aash Li
*snerk* Nice editing of film... though I might be able to do the same thing with other movies too. >.>
The Spy
Well holy crap...My neighbor's son (Doug Tait) is in it. Now I have to see it, 'cuz I hella know that guy. He plays the dude sitting between Captain Kirk and Spock (I think) while the two are talking in the bar. Doug also played Jason in the last scene of Freddy Vs Jason where Jason is coming out of the water with Freddy's head. NOOOO! YOU SPOILED THE WHOLE MOVIE! NOW THEY KNOW KIRK AND SPOCK WENT TO A BAR! SHAME ON YOU!!!! Ok now I'm done being stupid. I saw this movie and I gotta say, IT RULED. The only parts I didn't like were: The beginning battle, confused me to no end with it's rapidly fast camera switching and running and yelling and That car crash scene when Kirk throws that car in a canyon, which appearantly only mattered to introduce him. The Romulans appearances, I got so confused I couldn't tell the difference and was like "Wait, Nero died like 5 minutes ago... oh WAIT, that was his assistant!" but the Pro's were: "SPOOOOOOOOOOOOOCK!" Scotty. period. and like, everything else in the movie. I recommend it to everyone.

Aash Li
I agree with Church about the baddies... too many of them looked alike. The only reason I knew Nero was different was because he was generally better looking than the others. That and he had more close-ups. hehe

EnderWiggin
Going to see the 7:20 show with my girlfriend, my best friend, and his girlfriend. I'm really excited - hopefully it is what it has been made out to be. But Jae said she liked it, so I'm confident. _EW_

Chevron 7 locke
If I may? I thought it was a great movie. But I feel that a sequel may ruin it if they choose to make one. (Sorry Jae, but I'm using your "oh my god" moment. Last time I do so, I swear. ) Show spoiler (hidden content - requires Javascript to show) I can't believe Scotty transwarped Archer's beagle! For me...that was the oh. my. god. moment. Although the destruction of the USS Kelvin came pretty close.
EnderWiggin
Not a back of the cinema job then? ...During Star Trek? Absolutely not Well, I thought it was great. There were a few things I didn't particularly like, but overall I loved it. Zachary Quinto was a good actor choice IMO. It felt like Trek. My girlfriend (she's admittedly never seen anything Trek) liked it a lot too. To me, that bodes well if they're trying to restart the series. _EW_
Astrotoy7
Quick 2c Loved it. Kudos to Abrams for reinvigorating Trek. We'll likely at least get a sequel, but if the positive buzz leads to a new Trek TV series, that'd be great. If you live near an IMAX, do yourself a favour and go see it on that huge a$$ screen. You'll pick up great little details in all the scenes with CG, especially the space battles. Also loved the Johnny Archer reference(my favourite Trek Captain) Trek is back sucka *wonders what Rick Berman is feeling like atm* mtfbwya

Q
*wonders what Rick Berman is feeling like atm* Hopefully like he deserves to feel. Maybe after GL dies someone will come along and do the same thing for Star Wars.
Totenkopf
Balls to the wall. Despite monkeying w/canon, very enjoyable on its own merits. Still, makes you wonder how they plan to handle the next one. Doesn't look like this is gonna be your father's ST. So, any thoughts on who will be resurrected/redirected in the next one/s...
Jeff
Movie ****ing rocked. I admit to not seeing very much of TOS, I've mostly seen TNG and a bit of Voyager and DS9, so I probably didn't catch every reference but I still got a few and thought they were great. I definitely think it lived up to expectations.
Titanius Anglesmith
I didn't get to see it on opening night like I wanted (or the entire week after), but I finally got around to seeing it this past Sunday. To put it simply, I thought it was nothing short of ****ing amazing. It was the perfect blend of goodies for long-time fans and newcomers alike. The acting, the music, the writing - it was all brilliant. I loved the look of engineering, and this was also the only movie to ever make me tear up in the first scene. Easily the best movie of the year so far.
Astrotoy7
what amazes me even more is how so many people worldwide, not just on this forum, are mutually agreeing on the merits of a sci-fi flick! You usually get a strong cohort of disenfranchised folk, with the Trek reboot, theres only a relatively small slither. A perfect illustration: On last check Trekweb poll rating for the film had 87% of votes as 4/5 or 5/5 stars for the movie... I cant remember such mutual love for a sci-fi flick since well before public internet access and forums came into existence.... Blade Runner, Star Trek VI maybe?? Even ROTJ copped a good lot of fan unhappiness with the whole Ewok side of things.. amazing It's already been greenlit and the script ist in ze verkz. Yep, with the box office and positive vibe being generated you can imagine they'd be wasting no time. Interesting the strong rumours/fan fantasy in these very early stages is to re-introduce Khan......... definitely a very tempting story. mtfbwya
Aash Li
I wonder who would re-play Khan... Montoban (sp) was legendary in that movie... it would be hard to top him and his prosthetically enhanced chest. lol
Totenkopf
It'd probably be wise to steer clear of a Khan story b/c it would be so ripe for negative comparisons. Still, if they could actually find the right guy.....they have a much bigger audience than die hard trekkers to work with in the end.
CommanderQ
True, Khan was only meant to be played once, to try to emulate it may bring disaster to the franchise...but as Totenkopf said, if they find the right guy, they may have something to work with. Aash Li
I agree. I wouldnt want them to try Khan as their next movie... even if they did find the perfect guy to play him. Too soon, and Id rather not have rehashes of the old movies. One or two maybe, but not all of them.
Jae Onasi
I don't want to see another Khan movie. There are so many other things that they can do besides that, especially with this alternate universe they've created.
Miltiades
Went to see the movie, and as a non-Star Trek fan, I enjoyed the movie very much. A perfect introduction to the Star Trek universe. Actors did an awesome job, especially Zachary Quinto, in my opinion. Though I couldn't stop laughing every time Checkov was talking.
Q
I wonder who would re-play Khan... Montoban (sp) was legendary in that movie... it would be hard to top him and his prosthetically enhanced chest. lol Totally agreed, except for the chest part. AFAIK , that was all him. Montalban was well-known for being built like a brick ****house, even when he was older, and he loved to flaunt it. There were some questions initially as to whether Montalbán had had prosthetic muscles applied to his chest during filming of Star Trek II to make him appear more muscular; director Nicholas Meyer replied that even in his sixties Montalbán was "one strong cookie" and that his real chest was seen on film; Khan's costume was specifically designed to display Montalbán's physique. Aash Li
Ah... see that I never knew. I always heard he had a plastic chest during filming... but never heard anything to the contrary. So I took it as fact. This was a long time ago, before the advent of the Intarwebs.
Q
It was a common rumor. I just hope that I look half that good at that age.
