Tobias Reiper Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Somebody has to have one, I'm quite sick of the boobalicious anime's about girls crushing on emo guys who have terrible character and for some reason don't want to have fun times with the girl, with tons of pointless stupid drama, a la Peach Girl, or even the animes about the demon fox wolf thing from hell with cat ears, a la Inyuasha, and ask you, is there a good anime out there I should watch, or should I just start a petition to change the definition of anime to the previous paragraph?
Aash Li Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Peach Girl is a shoujo anime. Its meant for girls, so thats probly why you didnt like it.
CommanderQ Posted July 27, 2009 Posted July 27, 2009 Hey, Tobias Reiper, you should check out the Studio Ghibli films, they are generally very creative, and are different from your average anime:) A few of their films have romantic subplots, but not like what you've been watching. I've only seen a few or more, but they're really good, so check 'em out:D
igyman Posted July 31, 2009 Posted July 31, 2009 Well, my favorite is Naruto (currently watching Shippuuden). Another really good, but short anime I wholeheartedly recommend is Death Note. Of course, there's Bleach too.
Insignia_Enithma Posted August 2, 2009 Posted August 2, 2009 Bleach, naruto, Death Note, Dragonball Kai, This Beautiful Yet Ugly World
jrrtoken Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Cowboy Bebop is one of the more, er, "masculine" animes out there, even it is older. And... that's all I can think of, actually.
Jeff Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 TENGEN TOPPA GURREN LAGANN more gar than any of you will ever be in your life
Mav Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 TENGEN TOPPA GURREN LAGANN more gar than any of you will ever be in your life... Fix'd
Kjølen Posted August 3, 2009 Posted August 3, 2009 Someone else got Gurren Lagann in before me. I'll just have to second that motion. WHO THE HELL DO YOU THINK I AM?!
leXX Posted August 4, 2009 Posted August 4, 2009 Can't believe noone mentioned Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex. Shame on you.
Mav Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Can't believe noone mentioned Ghost In The Shell: Stand Alone Complex. Shame on you.
Prime Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Samurai Champloo I enjoyed greatly and has little to none of what you are ranting about.
leXX Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 Samurai Champloo I enjoyed greatly and has little to none of what you are ranting about. And a kickass soundtrack.
Rogue Nine Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 TENGEN TOPPA GURREN LAGANN more gar than any of you will ever be in your life THIS DRILL IS A DRILL THAT WILL PIERCE THE HEAVENS
Prime Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 MacrossDepends which one. Actually Frontier sounds a lot like what Tobias was ranting against. But at least Ozma was in there to call that out directly.
RogueJedi86 Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 THIS DRILL IS A DRILL THAT WILL PIERCE THE HEAVENS THIS DRILL IS THE DRILL THAT WILL CREATE THE HEAVENS!
Lynk Former Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Depends which one. Actually Frontier sounds a lot like what Tobias was ranting against. But at least Ozma was in there to call that out directly. I said Macross as in SUPER DIMENSION FORTRESS MACROSS Do you remember, Prime?
Aash Li Posted August 9, 2009 Posted August 9, 2009 Princess Lover is kinda funny. Its ecchi romance about this boy who goes to live with his grandfather who is filthy rich. Hes adopted and goes to this school for the kids of filthy rich people. heh
Serpentine Cougar Posted August 23, 2009 Posted August 23, 2009 I would also recommend FullMetal Alchemist and Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade. Oh, and I second Death Note. None of them are shoujo.
El Sitherino Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 More anime bumping from me, but uh... Outlaw Star may be something you'll find awesome? Also, Patlabor and Gundam anything, Kenshin, Tenchi Muyo, Elfen Lied. There's plenty of cool things out there, especially when we head into the realm of movies. One I like to recommend to mess with people is Perfect Blue because it's essentially David Lynch + Animation.
RogueJedi86 Posted January 1, 2010 Posted January 1, 2010 Or you could say Perfect Blue is Satoshi Kon, 'nuff said.
Dervish108 Posted May 1, 2010 Posted May 1, 2010 I said Macross as in SUPER DIMENSION FORTRESS MACROSS Do you remember, Prime? I enjoyed the classic Super Dimension Fortress Macross, as well as Macross Frontier. I also like Bamboo Blade. It's a series about a girls kendo team. The characters seem a bit emo at times, but it does not take itself at all seriously. Not a masterpiece, but lighthearted fun.
