Gurges-Ahter Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 I saw this poll on darthhater's site and found the results interesting. Which will guide your choice?
RogueJedi86 Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 I picked story, but to be honest I've decided I'll be a Trooper since they were announced. I love the Clone Troopers, and Trooper is the closest I'll get to those, so I'm rolling one. I love the idea of a regular guy who defends to Republic, so I guess that counts as story.
Hallucination Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Peer pressure, to be honest. After that, story, but gameplay's still going to be a major consideration.
ChAiNz.2da Posted May 14, 2010 Posted May 14, 2010 Until I get used to the controls and actually get to see the 'story' side of things I'll have to be honest and vote for gameplay. At least for now. It probably won't affect "what" class I choose to roll first but it will have less weight on future rolls/roles I'd play after my initial one so I can explore the story side of things So yeah, when you see a gimped smuggler running around like a jackass and can't play for squat.. that's probably me
Gurges-Ahter Posted May 15, 2010 Author Posted May 15, 2010 I almost couldn't care less about game play. It's all about story for me.
The-Seraphim Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Story and Gameplay are tied for me but if I had to choose I'd have to choose gameplay since i will probably be paying $15 a month to play it, and I could probably wookieepedia the story if I wanted too.
RogueJedi86 Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 But would you pick a class that has a crappy horrid story just because its gameplay is fun? Good stories are worth underwhelming gameplay, but the reverse is rarely true in games that try to make story matter.
The-Seraphim Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 If they somehow end up screwing up a story about a manipulative force-user in a society full of power hungry maniacs then I will officially throw my copy of the game out the window >_> (inquisitor)
RogueJedi86 Posted May 15, 2010 Posted May 15, 2010 Well it'd be easy to make them generically cheesy bad guys. Like a stereotyped form of Palpatine with no subtlety. That's why one has to hope the story is great and preferable over gameplay.
JediAthos Posted May 16, 2010 Posted May 16, 2010 Probably neither as I will likely try most if not all of them at one time or another as I've done in other MMOs I"ve played.
Darca Lar Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 I'm a real story driven person. I have trouble any game with a weak story(like Borderlands).
LordOfTheFish Posted May 24, 2010 Posted May 24, 2010 For me it will probably be a little of both. I'll only choose after reading a little about the classes that interest me.
darthfergie Posted May 25, 2010 Posted May 25, 2010 You know as much as I love story, my primary class will be based on what suits me and my playstyle. Sure I may play through a class just for kicks to get some of the storyline, but my main character will be a class that I enjoy playing most.
dswtor Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 im definitley all about story. many mmorpgs lack it.
adamqd Posted July 30, 2010 Posted July 30, 2010 100% Story, location, Old Republic era feel... I've played many MMO's, SWG the most, and my life is probably worse for it, It was a mediocre experience at best, and thats only because i found a handful of non-dicks to play with. MMO's Suck, I hope Bioware bring enough RPG/story to make this game win
dswtor Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 the storys in this game sound awesome first you have your class story which is about the length if not bigger of a normal kotor game. then you have the multiplayer storys which lead into doungens or whatever. then you have the side storys which are also very huge.
Prime Posted August 3, 2010 Posted August 3, 2010 Story for me. I don't equate uber stats with being a good character.
