00M-187
After seeing Lord Of The Rings TT, I now fully realize how truly lame the new Star Wars Trilogy is. Now dont get me wrong the orignal SW trilogy was and still is amazing and always will be. But after I put some thought into it, the new trilogy has no depth, The effects are great but come on, the storyline needs serious help. Yay, a trade dispute, whooo someone is trying to murder the queen. We've seen it all before. The new trilogy has no sense of adventure like the old movies did. The more I watch Hayden act the more I want to strangle him. He is horrible. The Dialogue is so cheasy in the 2 new films. I can't bare to watch them any more! Now I was one of the most die hard star wars fans you could find, I stuck by Lucas despite all the critics eating him up, But now I have changed my mind. After being truly moved and amazed by LOTR TT I now know what films should be like. Lucas needs to come up with something amazing in EP3... C'jais
So you're saying LOTR has more depth than Star Wars? Come on. They're both epics, but many people make them into something deeper and greater.
JerAir1587249581
Ep III will be REALLY good because a lot more happens and the main focus is on about everything In ep II The focus was on the huge battle and on yoda whooping dooku's big butt BAD:lol:

Don't get me wrong, Lucas has great ideas, but he cannot direct worth a rats @ss! Why do you think the previos movies where so good? Because lucas did not direct them. His direction is horrid. Anakin_Solo
i dont know how you can compare Lord of the Rngs and Star Wars together? thats ridiculas. get a life i didnt like the story line in Episode I or II. but does that matter? the whole point of this trilogy was to see Anakin Skywalker fall of into the Dark side. Nothing to do with trade embargos. and if you actually read the books outside the trilogy you would have found out that Darth Sidious has it all planned... The entrie first episode was to get Palpatine elected "Period" and in the Second film, to Give Palpatine the power to create a Clone army... So he can create the Empire. And in between it we see a young man torn up by hatred. WHAT else do you want?
Katarn07
Well, I like them, and guess what. Considering these are LucasForums, I'm hoping more than 50% of the members do to.....
Dark Warrior
I like them both equally, I don't really compare them at all because they are not similar at all. The Star Trek vs Star Wars thread was good because it is similar. But LOTR is not similar to Star Wars. They each have their own little flaws. LOTR has alot of depth but I also think that Ep3 will have alot of depth to it too because it will show Anakinturn completely to the Dark side. I think the first 2 movies were leading up to this and Ep3 is the result. But that is just my opinion. From my view they are equal.
00M-187
I'm sure if someone like Speilberg or even the directors from the original trilogy directed the new movies they would have been way better. I'm more criticizing Lucas's direction of the films rather then the actual story line. And I also cannot stand the dialogue of the new movie. Pet peeves about the new trilogy 1) Anakin wining like a bitch and the cheasy love scenes. (these have got to be the worst love scenes in the history of film) 2) Horrible one liners, " I call it aggressive negotiations" (That line killed the battle of Geanosis) 3) The name "Attack of the Clones" good lord did Lucas just think of this one day when he was on the can? So bad. 4) Jar Jar, need I say more? 5) Lack of adventure, it feels like I'm watching a documentary 6) Death of Darth Maul, what gay way to kill an awesome super villian... 7) Lack of character depth in Darth Maul

ImmolatedYoda
need i say that one purpose of Episode I was to bring in new viewers from the next generation, seeing as how there are 20 years between the OT and prequels. enter Jar Jar Binks. i found no problem with him. whitedragon
i dont know why people do not like ep1 and ep2. ill admit i dident like ep1 because it dident link to ep4-6 but then ep2 came out and it began to make more sence. i think were asking too much of GL. the origionals were the best ill agree with that but you have to like the new ones somewhat
Sivy
i enjoy watching Ep I & II as much as the OT
Darth Talliusc
you truly believe the new trilogy doesnt have depth? lol wait until ep3 comes out and say that. 100$ says that GL has been giving us hints all along to things we would never have guessed before. only in hindsight will we understand the actual depth and feel of the first two movies. and i think its very sad that two movies that you dont like ruined the entire SW universe for you. you claim that you dont like any SW stuff anymore. well im sorry to say man: but you dont belong on this forum then. you wont find anybody here (except the odd troll) that doesnt like SW. your comparisons to TTT make you seem like a fickle fan. i personally enjoyed the lotr movies but they have nothing on the original books. the new prequel is about the events that drove a small good hearted child to be one of the single most feared villains of all time. its about how an entire galaxy was tricked and hoodwinked into letting an insane mastermind get control. im sorry to hear that you dont like the new movies, you're entitled to your opinion just as i am to mine. i guess we'll have to agree to disagree on this. ckcsaber
Man, everyones ganging up on Star Wars. This is what is in some recent threads. Whats better SW or Star Trek(puhleese ), Star wars has lost its appeal, I hate SW now, LotR ownz SW's as$, Harry Potter is taking over everything, SW's is dying out just like pokemon:rolleyes:, etc.. Leave Star Wars alone d00d's. Period. It has proven itself already. Yes, new movies come out. Very observant of you 00m-187. You see one movie and completly HATE Star Wars because a new movie is better in your opinion? STAR WARS WILL NEVER DIE. DONT BE STUPID AND HATE IT BECAUSE OF LoTR's or anything else. STAR WARS will hold its place.
Matt-Liell
Star Wars has no depth? Gee last time I checked it had alot of if! Its stroy about faith, love, action, fighting, good vs. evil, redemtion, hope, peacekeeping, morals and the list goes on! Wow I had no idea it had almost no depth! Now you're entitled to your own opinion and I love LotR aswell but Star Wars is still amazing!
Tyrion
I didnt really like the new movies. Poor acting and lines. Spielburg should've directed it(and I heard he is going to direct EPIII,yay" the two movies definitly didnt kill my love of the star wars universe, they just werent on-par with the orginal trilogy. Agen
Agreed - except maybe ANH, i didn't like it too much compared to ep 1 and 2, they're all good though.
Xylan
I didn't see that many problems with the last two movies, dialogue and the jargon of the movies wasn't that thought out in Episode II, Jar Jar wasn't the best attempt at comic relief, and things like that. If they had fixed those things It would have been fine, but I still like Star Wars, but not for the movies much anymore. Besides I heard that the first few Star Wars movies weren't really directed by George Lucas....*Shrug*
