Who likes John Lennon

The Count

Recommended Posts

Wow, talk about an obscure thread.

John Lennon is probably one of the most interesting person I have heard about. He was a great talent, and had strong views, but he backed them up by actaully doing stuff. It is sad what happened to him, and the world lost a very great talent.:(

This is his songwriting at it's best, IMO

God, by John Lennon

God is a concept,

By which we can measure,

Our pain,

I'll say it again,

God is a concept,

By which we can measure,

Our pain,

I don't believe in magic,

I don't believe in I-ching,

I don't believe in bible,

I don't believe in tarot,

I don't believe in Hitler,

I don't believe in Jesus,

I don't believe in Kennedy,

I don't believe in Buddha,

I don't believe in mantra,

I don't believe in Gita,

I don't believe in yoga,

I don't believe in kings,

I don't believe in Elvis,

I don't believe in Zimmerman,

I don't believe in Beatles,

I just believe in me,

Yoko and me,

And that's reality.

The dream is over,

What can I say?

The dream is over,

Yesterday,

I was dreamweaver,

But now I'm reborn,

I was the walrus,

But now I'm John,

And so dear friends,

You just have to carry on,

The dream is over.

and ckcsaber what happened to JL?

He married Yoko...

Oh! He was shot.

And D00ku, I must agree you make kinda funny threads outside of the DF forum...

*** OK, I don't like Lennon alone. With the Beatles? Yeah. He's cool I guess. Paul and Ringo are my favorites (Ringo just because he was Mr. Conductor in Shining Time Station [the show with Thomas the Tank Engine]. Ahhh, my early childhood...)

yes he was shot in the back outside his apartment, next to central park in NYC and he died December 8, 1980

I don't believe in tarot,

apparently after his death they found a few letters that john lennon had recieved from a psychic, some opened some not, warning him that he would be shot & killed, they even had the date.

I do.

He was harsh headed and brash at some times, but he never lost focus in what he believed in.

He was alot like me, he liked to create something and quickly move on to something else, where McCartney liked to elaborate heavily on a single idea.

Sad how he died, yes he created some tension, but he never meant anything other than peace for cripe's sake.

I hang my head silently every October on the aniversery of his death out of respect. People think I am nuts, but I have alot of love for John that people will never understand.

Best book to get is "Lennon" by Ray Coleman.

John Lennon is a genius, in my opinion anyway. The music he wrote was purely based on his strong beliefs and feelings, and what he stood for was a good cause. It was absolutely tragic what happened to that man, and I hope the man that killed him has to live with the guilt of what he did. "Imagine" is still one of my favourite songs ever.

I think Lennon was a musical genius.

I don’t think he had strong beliefs though. I think he gave the appearance of being strong in his beliefs to overcompensate for not knowing what to believe in. I think he was constantly searching for answers.

You missed that he was married to Cynthia before Yoko........

Just received my copy of the Beatles Anthology on DVD, will have to do some serious watching soon. Even got a free "Magical Mystery Tour" DVD with it...

I never missed that, I just did not mention it. He fell for Yoko, and divorced Cynthia.

Not too uncomon for most artists. Despite my feelings towards Yoko, he did love her, as an artist, and as a personal freind, which speaks volumes compared to his relationship with Cynthia. Yoko influenced him as an artist, which is what he aspired to become. He found more meaning in his relationship with Yoko, which I will support, since I have found new perameters of love with my current Girlfreind.

Sometimes, it is more than just sex, or good looks. Sometimes you love some one for how they make you feel, or the ability to open your eyes to things you never thought were possible. My girlfreind is not just my companion, she is my spiritual counselor, and my biggest source of inspiration for a great deal of things. I often find myself just enjoying conversations about life, art, music, spiritual beliefs and so on. I love spending time with her, and lover her for who she is, and she loves me for the same reasons. Not for how I look, or how good I sing, but for who I really am inside.

Alot of people think that Yoko destroyed the Beatles, and have a great deal of animosity towards her in return. But in the days of late, she proved to be a good mother, and still loves John to this day, so perhaps some of us were wrong.

John did not take anything away from Cynthia, he left her a fortune, and the last thing I heard, she did not have any animosity towards him at all. Life sometimes works in ways we don't fully understand.

That being said, he never deserved to die....ever. Even his killer has come to terms with that. Not that it matters now, but at least all of us now know the legacy he left behind was never in vane, his mission was about love, and peace for all mankind.

Should we all carry on his wishes remains to be seen to this day....

I've actually never had a big fondness for John Lennon. Sure, he was part of one of the greatest bands ever, but he was never one of my favorite people. Then again, I've always like Paul and George better. Musical genius, maybe. Alcoholic, smoker, drug addict, most definitely.

I never liked her anyway she thinks she has some sort of right on The Beatles just because she married John.

She might, but I know for a fact that Michael Jackson owns A LOT of the rights to many Beatles song's.
