Tyrion
http://archive.nytimes.com/2003/04/09/international/worldspecial/09TERR.html Just a little warning.. The Patriot Act was passed to temporarily allow the U.S. government to,well, be able to arrest anyone , without any warning or evidence. However, this bill pretty much makes the U.S. government able to arrest anyone without any warning or evidence...permanently. In other words, the U.S. government will have the power to arrest anyone reguardless of evidence. In short, I want to say... "Mommy!"

master_thomas
:confused:Oh boy. Corruption will thrive. Politicians can arrest anyone they want and the victims will have no protection. Yeeeaaah. ARE THEY INSANE??? OMG!!! Isn't this unconstitutional? Doesn't the Bill of Rights state that the people have a right to a fair trial? (I forget which one. Isn't it #8?) Come on, Judicial Review. But Republicans in the Senate in recent days have discussed a proposal, written by Senator Orrin G. Hatch, Republican of Utah, that would repeal the sunset provisions and make the law's new powers permanent PERMANENT??? How did these guys get into office? We are all doomed. master_thomas
InsaneSith, ooooooh too bad. Just because he was Arabic. Even though he has been a legal citizen for 11 years and an American for 25 years? No Proof? HOLY ****!!! That is descrimination and is almost definitely illegal. What has this country come to? Man, what lousy government officials. That is also just plain wrong. That is sick. America is supposed to be against that. <wimper to myself> Dang, this pisses me off. Originally posted by Reborn OutcastThats (pardon my language) f***** bull****. The fact that they can arrest ANYONE with only suspicion is a load of crap. I hear that. Allow me to express my distaste for this act in a calm, reasonable way. Aww what the heck. This is how I really feel. "You pieces of **** you :swear:" I will not pardon this language. It is justified, not even powerful enough. I'll try this (searches for angry smilies) " : **** you you ****ing *****es "ohhh, it's no use. The available smilies and the English language don't express my rage enough. Time for onomotapoeia (excuse spelling) AAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH. ckcsaber
Originally posted by wassup Damn... Our Founding Fathers must be SO ashamed... Why? America is at WAR. The government must protect its citizens. That is imperitive. The war is bringing bigger threats to the citizens, so the government must do what it must to protect the citizens. TheJackal
People, this is why you must revolt! Do a protest! A PUBLIC PROTEST. I'm allways amazed on how the american government and the government backing media succeded in twisting the definition of words. They succeded in making people look like terrorists if they do not agree with a bill because it is unpatriotic. Patriotic is loving your country so much that you see its flaws and you want to fix them to make your country a better place. Patriotic does not mean you fallow your government to think you do not agree. ------------ I strongly hope one day the american government will reform itself into a political system more like the UK and Canada. The opposition has a stronger say in everything, and a law can be turned down before it has to go to the senate. Look it up, you'll see its much more strong as a democratic government than anything else. i have to admit however that the opposition CAN be annoying, but it is their job to question the government majority.
