The Matrix? Over-rated if you ask me...

I'd be inclined to go for the sci-fi horror genre, like Alien (+ sequels), Event Horizon and Pitch Black. Of the more classic films, I like Dune, 2001 and Blade Runner. Great books, made into great films :)

Yes. I believe I read it in SFX magazine. The sequel will be about the life of Riddick, not the alien-infested planet they landed on in the first film. In fact, if Vin Diesel gets his way, he want to make a trilogy of Riddick films.

Thanks for the heads-up on the UT2K3 map. The only problem is I probably won't be able to download it. :( Big downloads have a habit of going wrong on my connection. :cry6:

Katarn07...if you like Heston, you might want to check out some of his other SF work...

The Omega Man - a good film based on Richard Matheson's novel I am Legend

Soylent Green - an extremely good film, IMHO, based on Harry Harrison's novel Make Room! Make Room! Edward G. Robinson gives a great performance in that film.

I don't think it'd be possible for that movie to suck harder even if it tried. Damn.

And the amount of times they used the word 'leverage'...... urgh!

That's a real shame, it's a truly great map, probably the best DM match out there. I really hope you're able to d/l it, I know you'll absolutely love it.

Flash Gordon (the original series with Buster Crabbe)

I suggest the one where he goes to Mongo first. Most of the SW movies are filled with stuff from that one.

Shark City - Otoh Gunga

King Vultan's Sky Palace - Cloud City

Beast that fights Flash in Sky Palace - Rancor (although it looks more like the Mugato, a gorilla with a horn on its head from the original ST)

Loads of other ones. They're all over. Heck, the enemy troops are called Stormtroopers and there are Roayal Guards in an episode (yes, as in episode I-VI) or two.

It also starts out with the title scroll with each episode like SW.

Then, the other one I saw was his trip to Mars. I saw that one a long time ago, and all I can remember being like SW are the Clay People.

In AotC, when Ani and Padme are going through the tunnel and the Genosians pop outta the wall, I was the first to point out that the Clay people do the same thing when Flash and his pals are going through some tunnel in the Mars serial...

The Mongo one is better.

And as for that thing made in 1980? RUN!!!

*** Can't believe no one else at least said the ORIGINAL PotA. I'm not talking about that 2001/ Burton/ Wahlberg thing... (Actually, the ending was a bit more like the book's than the Heston one, but not nearly as cool)

Heh...yeah, that was pretty bad. :D

I like the Queen rock theme for it, though. ;)

Anyway...did you also see the original Buck Rogers with old Buster? Eh, eh...didja? :D

Darth Eggplant

Saturn 3 or 5

It's Saturn 3 with Kirk Douglas, Farah Fawcett and Harvey Keitel - and you're right, it's pants.

all the hylanders after the original

I totally agree, the first was the best, and they should never have bothered with a sequel.

I heard pitch black was bad

Never judge a movie by hearsay. :) I liked it :D

the movie not armageddon the other one about a rock in space

I think you mean Deep Impact, where Morgan Freeman played the President of the US, and Robert Duvall lead the attack on the 'global killer'.

Although you could be referring to the film Meteor starring Sean Connery.

I forgot about Brazil...that was a rather strange movie, as I recall.

Of course...not quite as strange as Eraserhead...which is pretty much the ultimate weirdness and a bit sick in parts. :D

Oh...and you mentioned They Live...do you mean the John Carpenter film where the lead character - don't remember his name - walks into a bank or something and says...

"I've come here to chew bubblegum and kick ass...and I'm all out of gum."

Oh, and speaking of JC...who can forget Escape From New York with ole Snake Plissken? I enjoyed that one.

And of course...there's the Road Warrior...Mad Max

Yeah, I got the original as a gift from my sister a while back. It's two tapes and has all 13 chapters. I onl;y watched it once. All this talk about it is tempting me to pop it in one of these days :D

I taped the Mars one off AMC and lost the tape. It is somewhere in my basement I think.

And yes, it is Buster Crabbe as Flash and Jean Rogers as Dale Arden.

Hmm, wish it was in color :p
