What's your story?

I'm not sure if this has already been done, but how did all of you get here. I mean, did a friend tell you about it? Did you just type in lucasforums.com out of curiosity? Here's mine. I bought JKII off of a friend. I wanted to find a good jkii related site, and eventually found http://www.jediknightii.net. From there, I went to the "Premere Forums", and then found the swamp. That's my story. Whats yours?

Well I will tell you my story, but it is not for the faintest of heart. It was not always like this.

I used to be your everyday casual internet browser, and video game nut. One day in a dark alley, I noticed a peculiar booth that sold video games. This booth was clearly like no other. The salemen had a raspy midevil sounding voice, a long white beard and wore a dark duster and a huge floppy fedora. All the usual titles were there, with the exception of an unusual black box encrusted with a silver emblem which resembled a lightsaber. I asked about that one, and the man warned me of the dangers of such a game, something about insomnia, and my soul. I thought it was just another superstitious old man that hated video games. After much persuasion, the man finally reliqueshed. I asked for a price, and he seemed all to eager to get the game out of his stand, he asked for my best offer. I handed him a fistful of magic beans and took the strange box home.

I fired up the installation and gave it a try. I had lots of fun fragging stormies and doing all sorts of run and jumps. I went into one room on the level and something happened that I will never forget. The room was dark and metallic, and nothing was in it, so I feared the worse. But then the entrance door dissapeared. My room began to rattle and shake and my door locked it self from the outside, then the walls began to ripple and bend as if they were water. Suddenly everything around me including me sucked into the monitor. I grabbed at everthing nailed down, until finally I had nothing left to grab onto. Then darkness. I woke up in a dark room with a bright light shining in my eyes and noticed a hand full of young men in lab coats. I was sitting in a chair, and they started asking me questions. No matter how sarcastic of an answer I gave them, they would write it down and continue. Some of the questions were scientific technical questions, and others were silly common sense questions. The men finally introduced themselves to me. One of them, called himself "Rhett", bore a striking resemblence to Yoda, only he was very tall, like twice my height. Another one with some sort of medical light thingy on his head introduced himself to me as matt-windu, made note of the lower case spelling and he looked like a dead ringer for Rick Moranis. The other looked like Ewan McGregor, called himself "obi-wan13". The other guy sitting off in the corner mumbling things about Greek Mythology and sometimes speaking french, was introduced as Rogue Nine. Finally I had to ask the usual; "where am I, why am I here, and who the Hell are you people?" The one known as Rhett stepped forward. "You know why you are here Darth Groovy, and getting here is the hardest part." I thought this was funny, because I had a real name, and they were calling me by my computer alias. I had to laugh and told them that I must have ate some bad lasagne to be having such a goofy dream. Rhett continued; "It is the adventure you seek, but comes at a swift price. First there is pain, but only temporary, then there is insomnia which is permanent, then....... your soul." My sarcasm increased. I called them a bunch of rude names but they did not seem to be bothered. Finally they all looked at each other at matt-windu looked at me. "The choice is yours, and making the choice is the most difficult task. We will help you with everything else. Once you make that choice, we will see you again" said matt-windu. Then he smiled and walked into the nearest wall and quite litterly melted into it. One by one, the others followed. Rouge Nine then put down his paper and stood up, then removed his dark glasses. "All men and women have an origin, a journey, and a destiny. The thing that man fails to realize, is that they have a choice. It would be in your best interest to not make this choice, but what makes us all unique is that we have the ability to make a choice, and once the choice is made, only then has the journey really begun. He then put his glasses back on and headed towards the same wall the others melted into, then he looked back at me and smiled. "See you around Groovy!" With that he dissapeared with the others. Then I woke up the next morning snoozing in my office chair. Within moments I ran down the alley with the game all packed up and headed towards the vendor that sold me the damn thing. I went to the location, but the stand was gone, there was no trace of it what so ever. I asked some of the other vendors, and the ones that did not curse me, told me to lay off the drugs. On the way back home, I ran into some scruffy looking guys in the alley. One flipped out a switch blade, and the other brandished some sort of revolver. The one with the revolver said "gimmie your wallet!" I told them I had no money and he got shakey and demanded me to hand it over, so I pulled out my wallet and threw it on the ground. He quickley picked it up, as the guy with the switchblade came closer. For some stupid reason, maybe fear, or lack of sleep I said to the man "you don't need to see my wallet", then he just froze and gave me a puzzled look then responded, "we don't need to see his wallet". The guy with the gun stopped fumbling with my credit cards and said "WTF?" Then he came closer pointing the gun at me. Then suddenly he stopped and said "we don't need to see his wallet", then dropped the wallet on the ground. I then opened both of my hands and both the gun, and the knife floated out of their hands and into mine. They gave me a look of terror and ran off screaming like school girls. I dropped the weapons, picked up my wallet and ran like hell all the way home.

I then went home and google searched the game, and tried every search engine there was and turned up nothing. After hours and hours of thought and no sleep at all, I replayed the scenario over and over again in my head, and after much hesitation, put the game back in. I ran Kyle to the same room I went into before and slowly the room started to shake and bend and into the monitor I went, only I did try to hold out, but just kind of squinted my eyes and prayed for dear life. I wound up back in the room, only this time it was not dark, and the same four people were there only this time instead of wearing lab coats they had on Star Wars type costumes. The one called obi then smiled and said the choice had been made. I stopped them their and said....."whoa buddy I didn't choose nothing, I just got some questions...." Then the one known as Rhett stepped closer and said, "We have all the answers but first come with us." Then he stabbed a syringe into my shoulder and the room went blurry...

I woke up on some sort of lab table, and got up. It appeared to be some sort of doctor's office or something. My head was stinging bad on several spots on the top of my head, I reached up to rub it, and felt no hair...but a horn, followed by other horns! I ran to the mirror, and saw the face of Darth Maul, then I passed out. I woke up again in full Darth Maul type clothes and after much hesitation, my training had begun. Darth Maul was my alter ego, and since I had fancied him for song long, and yearned to be like him, I was now him, in a strange world known as JKII.net where reality and fantasy had merged. There people are governed by choice, journey and destiny. It was a long process, but before long, I had found a new home, and because of my sith image, I had soon become a double agent for the cause, and high council member of the LFJA, and a mod at jkii.net. The rest is a continuous adventure....

To be continued...

Woah Groovy, that was.....thorough.....

I was surfing away one day minding my own business when I felt a flat thump on the back of my neck.

When I came too there was a man named BLaCKouT_1138 flaming me, and lots of voices in the surrounding darkness whispering......."Welcome to the swamp youngling...."

I was getting bored posting over at the TFN Jedi Council, mainly because theres only a few official threads for Jedi Outcast, so I signed up to post in the Valley with some general questions.

I was then lured into the Swamp, and ensnared by the flaming thread.

I've been unable to leave ever since.

Hey, BB, that's right, blame me! ;)

Funny story actually. I was browsing the old JK.net boards before there was a lucasforums. Then I had computer problems and I had to leave for a very long time. I returned a few months later to check on my old stomping grounds, only to see something called "LucasForums."

So it found me, basically.

OK... Nice story Groovy

And I came here trough JKII.net, needed to ask some questions back when JO was released. I stayed there for a couple of months but stopped posting. Then the JA news came, I wanted to post here, but I couldn't remember my password. So I made a new account, PMed Rhett and got my old account back :) And after some time on the JA forum, I wandered into the swamp and sortoff got stuck here :)

Hey matt. Haven't seen you around for a while.

Anyway, I used to be big on downloading mods and such. I'm pretty sure I had at least twice as many new skins/models as I did original models, and enough mods to choke a horse. What I'm getting at with this is that I was a fixture at jediknightii.com. Eventually, I stumbled upon the link to the forums, and from then on, I was hooked. Just when I think I'm out, it drags me right back in. I'm trapped, unable to escape. A torrent of voices chattering all around me, restraining me. I can't get out. The addiction has me. Lucasforums has me.

And I wouldn't have it any other way. :D
