Kuuki Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 I HAD POWER ALL DAY YESTERDAY!!!! Sucks though that I was at work and my cable net was down... But I had power! ^_^
Kuuki Posted August 15, 2003 Author Posted August 15, 2003 okay okay I didn't need to gloat, becuase there are needy people who REALLY need power. but still it was ironic how everywhere in NY state lost power expect for some lil hick towns... *shrugs* Oh yeah, gotta love it when ya have the best spots not only for bandwidth but for isolation from b.s. too
Surfnshannon Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 And what about the hospitals....and the people out there who need power to live.........
Lynk Former Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 wha? power? huh?................. you guys are turnips... or nogs... i can't decide
Ray Jones Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 they have anti power failure powers .. like backup systems .. for instance the hospitals .. the firm where i work once had trouble with a system at a hospital .. only once in a month .. we finally found out that they once in a month TEST the poweraggregates which just turn on if mainpowersupply fails ..
Lynk Former Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 oh yeah... that... how's that workin out for ya'll?
Cmdr. Cracken Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 Interesting, Ed, because i heard Boston lost it. I heard Ontarior provence, Most of NY, part of Conneticut, Michigan, Ohio, lost power. in fact, i was in the middle of AvP2 when it went out....
swphreak Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 Does anyone know what caused it yet? (didn't pay attention to news that much)
edlib Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 No. Massachusetts is totally on it's own isolated grid, fortunately. There were a few towns out on the NY border (out past Springfield) that did go dark though. And they think it was a lightning strike on a transformer station on the US side of Niagra that started the overload cascade.
Bob Gnarly Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 I didnt have power all day yesterday:mad: ...Shut up
Philocleon Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 I live in Massachusetts and my little town of Ludlow did just fine. Suprising that we did, seeing how we run on a small hydro dam, and we've suffered a few minor blackouts because of it.
RicardoLuigi... Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 yeah, that sucks...there was no trl today...
Zoom Rabbit Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 I was unaffected way the hell out in Oregon. And even if our grid had gone down...my land yacht runs on solar. *(Gloats openly.)* It was not a lightning strike. There were no clouds, storms or reported strikes anywhere near that power plant. As of right now...they have absolutely no idea what caused the blackout. My money is on cyberterrorism. Really. Even if it were, would the US government admit it? Think about it.
Cmdr. Cracken Posted August 15, 2003 Posted August 15, 2003 Anyway, the promised rolling blackouts RG&E (our electric company) said they might do never happened. i've been turned on all day, so i'm happy...... *thinks* knowing this crowed, it'll be turned into something dirty. i give it 5 posts. ^_^
Alia Posted August 16, 2003 Posted August 16, 2003 I was in the Northeast and experienced no shortage of power, except when I felt slightly fatigued late yesterday afternoon. But I assure you, I took a short nap and was consequently refreshed.
Pisces Posted August 16, 2003 Posted August 16, 2003 I didn't have power and I was pissed. I wanted to watch Wes Craven's New Nightmare and Jason Goes To Hell, but no. The &*@#ing power went out. Oh, well, at least my reason for being angry is small.
Kuuki Posted August 16, 2003 Author Posted August 16, 2003 new nightmare sucked btw ^_^ Freddy VS Jason ROCKED!!! XD anyway, I still never lsot power, which was cool. You know what is also cool... Panties...
Admiral Odin Posted August 16, 2003 Posted August 16, 2003 Six o'clock we were promised a 2 hour black out that never happened. I'm rather upset over that. I like blackouts.
Kuuki Posted August 16, 2003 Author Posted August 16, 2003 to be honest with you admiral, I do too... cus i rot my mind on this friken thing long enough, it'll take something liek that to get me off of this thing ^___^ ..and work...
Admiral Odin Posted August 16, 2003 Posted August 16, 2003 I like candles, especially reading by candle light. Black outs give me a reason to do this.
Kjølen Posted August 16, 2003 Posted August 16, 2003 Yeah, poor people. I hope the things that NEED power are ok. likes hospitals *prays silently for them* I thought you meant North-East World, lol, you need to be more specific. the US in't ALL of the world
Admiral Odin Posted August 16, 2003 Posted August 16, 2003 Hospitals, and other critical places have back up generators. In case there is a power outage they still have power.
