Personally I think the writer of the report is a ****ing asshole. And he doesn't understand the defenition of journalism. News reporters REPORT THE FACTS, not their goddamn overly-criticizing, negative opinions!

These people obviously know nothing about star wars, and are not even trying to follow the storyline of the movies at all.

I'd like to say, that i've never come home from a Star Wars movie dissapointed.

These people are stupid and should stfu :)

If they're talking about the movie then they can't count. Lord of the Rings was made in the 21st Century. And why a new director? Lucas wrote the freakin' thing! The forum name and lucasarts would have to change to jacksonforums!

I have two things to say:

1) Who watches MSNBC anyway? The most veiwers they have ever had at one time is like, nine, I think. It's close to that number, anyways.

and

2) I've been trashing AotC. Does that make me a bad person?

*sigh*

Man, I don't even wanna talk about Anakin......

Ah, it's ok obi, cuz you're cool :)

But that guy can burn in hell. I want to go up to him and just yell midichloreans as loud as I can. That's a fun thing to do to little bastards like him.

:)

PS:I'm thinking of leaving a comment that just says MIDICHLOREANS! over and over.

I agree with the tone of the article. I mean let's face it, Star Wars is a great thing, and I have been a huge fan for my entire life, but the last two movies have been lacking any qualities that make you take them seriously.

Admittedly, George Lucas has an incredible imagination, and an awsome vision of that galaxy far far away, but as a director, well, ouch. He has taken some truly great actors and made them seem like cardboard cutouts. Liam Neeson was 2 dimensional for cripes sake, and he can really act

Get someone truly talented to direct and let the actors actually act without seeming like they are reading their lines off of a karaoke machine, and EPIII would be far better than it will likely be with GL doing everything.

i agree with certain points of the article, mostly settling on anakin's feminine characteristic for being a whiney dumb***. but what we have to understand is that it is a prequel to one of the most famous triologies ever. everything that lucas is doing is being judged by the success of episodes 4, 5 and 6. i think he's doing a marvelous job crafting the characters of obi, yoda, and the droids (although giving r2 air was just weird) into what we will see in the later episodes.

And saying that ... well, it is laughable, really. When you have Hemingway, Faulkner, Sartre, Camus, and on and on and on ...

LotR is perhaps the greatest work of modern fantasy, but ...

No, but AotC is a released, fully realised movie. It is done, and out there for public review. Enough time has passed for newness to wear off and you to be able to pas critical judgement.

Personally, having seen all of them in theaters and at home, AotC is my favorite, followed by TESB. But that is *my* opinion.

The problems I have with MSNBC are two fold:

- They are passing judgement on a non-released work.

- They are actively censoring opinions. There have been numerous reports of people writing in (hundreds or thousands) yet when they talked about how many people agreed ... they had like 99%, which was numerically impossible based on their own reported numbers.

i love Ep I & II just as much as the OT and i do think people are overly critical with them.

the problem is they would never meet expectations. we all grew up watching the OT over and over and when GL annouced that he was going to make prequels everyone was like, wow this is the best thing that could ever happen! then a year before the release of Ep I the hype machine increased expectations even more. it had no chance. no matter how good it was people would trash it because of the anti-climax which was inevitable.

i think the only thing in the prequels that will meet expectations will be the duel between obi-wan and anakin. i'm so excited about seeing that, i mean thats what the prequels are about... the origin of darth vader.

I remember after seeing AotC at the midnight showing in my town. After it was over, I had that special feeling of awe. That was a great feeling too. I probally only got 2 hours of sleep that night. I thought it was great, but this is my era of Star Wars. I was born yet to experiance the Classic Trilogy. I love both trilogies, they are both great in their own ways.

No, it doesnt. I mean, I watched it yesterday, just for the fun of it, and I was scarred for life afterwards. It was even worse than I remember.

Still looking forward to Ep. III.

Shut up IG. :p

All I can say to Siv's post is :wstupid: ditto. If you pretend you never knew it was coming out, then it would be awesome to your viewpoint. But ppl started conjuring images about how frickin' awesome it's gonna be and then they're disappointed because George Lucas, i'm afraid, is a human, not a god come to earth as a director.

ALL the movies are gold. INCLUDING the prequels. In fact, AotC is my fav so far.

It's been a while since I've read such an acerbic diatribe, so it was rather refreshing in light of the subject matter, even if the 'contributor' suffers from acute verbal diarrhoea. Cutting through the thick of this rambling chastisement, I managed to spy a few glimmers of sense with which I can agree:

1. Hire a professional writer. Most good films stand on the quality of their script, and the performances of the actors - not whizz-bang special fx. AS you all probably know, The Empire Strikes Back is my favourite film of the lot, and I think it's probably true that having another writer tackling the material improved the quality of the movie. So I can certainly appreciate the idea of using a professional script-writer to flesh out Lucas's sketchy details.

2. Acting talent. I have to agree about Hayden Christensen - I think he was miscast in this role. When he delivers his speech about killing the Tuskens in AOTC, for some reason I keep seeing an angry young Kirk Douglas delivering those lines - and what a towering performance it would have been. So I can sympathise with the view of Christensen being a cardboard cutout with little depth or range.

I'm also not a fan of Jar Jar, but I appreciate why he was in the movie, because my kids liked him.

The rest of that article is just an exercise in character assassination and tripe. While I thought The Phantom Menace left quite a lot to be desired, I thought Attack Of The Clones was mostly good, and had a more interesting plot.

One thing I always keep in mind when watching Star Wars movies - they're meant to be an action-packed rollercoaster that takes you along for a ride. Why people keep wanting it to turn into some deeply thought-provoking emotional tour-de-force is beyond me.
