TiE23
a steal it is not. They steal from you when you get no hard copy of their games. In my opinion they should all be sold for around $20-$25 on steam. Grinds my gears? It's actually pretty easy to look past that part when you can install the things easy like pie when you re-do your system and all. Always on your account, download any time. No swapping discs. No tossing game cases under your desk by your computer tower when not using them. It's actually quite nice. But yeah, a $10 and more discount is expected. Jeff
I used to be like that, wanting boxed copies of all my games, but that was before I started using Steam. Now I love it. Extremely convenient, and pretty much everything TiE said. No disc swapping and being able to install from any computer. I can see why people prefer having boxed copies since I used to be the same way myself, but I don't think it's reasonable to expect a discount on Steam because of it. You swap the "luxury" of having a box for the convenience of instant gratification. Also, even if you prefer boxed copies, not sure how it's not a steal. Would you really pay $25 more in-store just to get a box and CD?
MrWally
I love Steam. And I hate it because I end up buying way more games and thus spending much more money than I would normally >.< Seriously, though. It hit me recently . . . what if Valve goes out of business and Steam goes under? Do we all lose our games? O.o
Black Knight of Keno
No, because there are always torrent sites backup plans on Valve's end. <.< >.>

Samuel Dravis
Valve has said they'd issue an unlock code or DRM disabler if they ever go under. However, if they do go under, they'll be in no position to make good on that promise. They might be able to do it for their games, but most likely they'll sell the Steam service to someone else. After all, Steam is an asset they'll want (or be forced) to liquidate.
TiE23
This is Steam we're talking about, right? Valve has made some of the best selling and critically received games... ever. I don't see them going under... like, ever. In other great news: I'm pretty sure my internet is being throttled by my ISP. Seriously... that's not right. Da_man
Mothership Zeta is awesome in every sense of the word. The fact that I went around blowing up aliens with a rocket-propelled teddy bears while wearing aviator sunglassees, a cowboy hat, and Japanese Samurai armor, makes it truly epic. TiE23
Actually it's starting to look like it may be my router. Apparently WRTU54G-TM has problems with "slow upload, fast download". Grrr... Edit: Much better. Looks like I left a random setting on when I was trying different things trying to fix my NAT issue with my 360 last night. I solved that with a little ol' fashioned port fowarding. But I left an option called Wired QoS, which apparently is a limitation option. Anyway, noticed right away that "Uplink Bandwidth: 384kbps" was awfully close to my .36 limit. I turned it off and it went back to normal. So yay. Troopr-Undr-Fir
Ok, since I've decided to actually post crap again (And believe me it's all crap that comes from me), and instead of making a dumb "Post your whips" thread I'll post it here. ZBomber
I started working on my first recorded song since February 2008. I had been jamming with one of my friends for almost a year, and we'd always come up with cool riffs but we never turned them into full songs. We stopped being friends about a week ago and I really wanted to start working on a song again... so I went back to my next door neighbor who helped me compose my first song back in December 2007 It's a very simple song. I wrote the lyrics back in March 2008, and it was originally a love song for my girlfriend. However, since we broke up, I changed the lyrics to kind of represent the last rocky month or so. Nothing really negative, a little depressing, but the chorus has this feel of optimism and hope... I like that. I had the chorus vocal melody in mind way back when I wrote it, and I think it still holds up after all this time. So far we have written the chorus on guitar... I made a short recording of my friend playing the guitar and me singing it. I'm gonna add bass later, and hopefully this weekend we'll start work on the verses. Its a very simple acoustic song, but it feels good to be doing something again. I don't know anyone else I can write prog songs with, so I'm gonna have to settle for acoustic material until I find someone else. Anyways, the song is called "When Skies Are Gray". If I like the end result I'll post it here.

BongoBob
How can you tell TiE's been on vacation? This thread hasn't had a post in it for almost 2 weeks Snagged a couple of CDs from the local library... Gogol Bordello - Super Taranta! Absolutely fantastic cd. Ben Harper & Relentless 7 - White Lies For Dark Times This one, I had seen in stores quite a few times, but never bothered looking into it. I checked it out on a whim, and was surprised. I don't know exactly what I was expecting, but it's really good Blues Rock. Very relaxing.

Commander Obi-Wan
Saw AC/DC live to other night. All I got to say that was probably the best concert I've seen. There were over 60 000 people and all you could once it was dark, was thousands upon thousands of AC/DC horns flashing. Definitely worth the price of the ticket. is a video of that someone took of the concert.
