The Doctor
Do you think that KotOR (the first game, of course) should be made into a movie? I know it's hard to make an RPG into a movie, but I think it would be pretty cool. And if you said yes, who would you cast as the main character (male)? RobQel-Droma
Me, I don't think that they should make it out of the games, but I do think that it would be cool if it was based around KotOR. I would prefer it to be on something we didn't already play, like before or after. Jedi would be using saberstaffs and two sabers, there would be tons of dark jedi, the movie would be filled with duels with Sith. That would be cool to watch, even if the story is a pile of crud... well, I should reverse that... If the story is a pile of crud, then the only good thing would be the duels. Jeff
I know I would like them to make one, but I don't think a lot of people would because it wouldn't follow their characters gender/alignment. I played the canon way in both games (LS Male) so I wouldn't care.
lukeskywalker1
Well, technically, there are star wars movies. Even though, KOTOR has a different "feel" to it overall, I am not sure how the general non-gaming public would feel about that. I guess they could just call it "Knight of the Old Republic" rather than "Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic" It had a great storyline, thats for sure. On par with the movies too. The movie would have to be really long too, because theres a lot of info in KOTOR... I also think, it if were made, it should be CG.... why? Because I don't like watching video game movies made with "real people." Just ruins the effect, plus then the voices are different. With CG- same likness, and voices. REDJOHNNYMIKE
As for male or female, alignment etc. it might be an interesting film experiment to see if you can use several vague characters and never really say who it is... But I spent the whole morning breathing plumbing glue so that's probably retarded.. What was I saying... Oh, KotOR is a better story than the NT combined, Movie? Mos Def! Aurora Merlow
Yeh i'd love to see them do it. It was such a great story and i think it deserves making. It would bother me too much if they differ the story from how i played it. Who would you like to see play the main characters?
MdKnightR
I would love to see them do it. Here is my choices for casting Revan based on alignment.... LS Male: Hugh Jackman LS Female: Gina Gershon (Sasha from Face/Off) DS Male: Michael Wincott (Top Dollar from The Crow) DS Female: Tricia Helfer (that broad that plays the main Cylon on BS Galactica). Other Characters: Canderous: Michael Ironside Carth: Micheal Weatherly Mission: Kristin Kreuk Zaalbar: Does it matter? Shaq maybe. Malak: Stone Cold Steve Austin (okay, its just because he is bald and menacing) Juhani: Carmen Electra (okay, so I got that because of the Pussycat Dolls) Jolee: Tony Todd Bastilla: Kate Beckinsale (see, she even looks like her in this pic...) Aurora Merlow
Hugh jackman as Revan very good call Kate beckinsale is so perfect as bastilla she looks identicle and she has the accent I was thinking Laurence Fishburne as Jolee
TheGreenGoblin
It'd be a huge undertaking, I doubt it would work, you would need someone with either respect or love for the source material. Anyway, Cast: Revan: Christian Bale Carth: Ed Burns Bastila: Keira Knightly Canderous: Ron Pearlman Mission: Any snot-nosed kid Jolee: Morgan Freeman (Or Avery Brooks) Juhani: Anyone that can pull a Russian accent HK-47: (Same actor from the game for the voice) Saul: Liam Neeson Darth Malak: (WWE Wrestler Kane for the body, same actor from the game for the voice)
montnoir
I voted stupid idea because Kotor is a 20+ hours long, conversation laden, dramatic, rpg with stats. Dumbing it down to a 2 hour action movie, would be a stupid idea! There are 100 other ways (and most of them better) to make a SW spinoff. Revan: Christian Bale I'd much rather stick a fork through one of my eyeballs!
Darth InSidious
This idea smells of ****titude. Sorry. See same reason for NOT doing VO's for your character...
Hallucination
NO! Kotor is about playing the game, and finding the characters story. But watching a movie going down one path doing either good things or bad but getting redeemed? NO!
Prime
I don't think the KOTOR story would translate will into movie form...
Darth333
no, I hope there will not be a Kotor movie. I don't think the story is good for a movie and I think the result would suck. I spent 40-50 hours playing it the first time and I can't imagine a two hours movie out of it. If they ever do anoter sw movie, it's better if it's an original story instead of a "reheated" product. Bob Lion54
No. Mostly because there really is not a way to do it well. I think a series/mini-series set in the time period could be cool, but not retelling the story from the game. The games are about getting into the story, making choices and kicking arse. You lose that in a movie, thus losing the spirit of the games. Revan and the Exile belong to the games. I think most of us are against it because of our love of the games. That said, It might have an appeal for people that haven't played them, but as one who does love the games, I vote no. Its still fun to speculate about who would fit the parts, though. Mission: Kristin Kreuk She is uber hot! I wonder how she looks blue?!?! Jolee: Tony Todd Hes a good actor, but I thinks hes a bit too young. Bastilla: Kate Beckinsale Can't think of anyone better! Canderous: Ron Pearlman Very good choice. He would be awsome. Jolee: Morgan Freeman (Or Avery Brooks) Morgan Freeman definetly. I can't think of any one better. While I'm a hugh Avery Brooks fan, hes too young, I think. Some of mine: Mission: Lacy Chabert or Jennifer Love Hewitt (she has to be old enough to like without feeling like a dirty old man, yet still young and cute) Carth: Raphael Sbarge Kreia: Bea Arthur thats all I can think of...... MdKnightR
Well, all you nay-sayers that sight the length of the game as a problem should consider all of the superhero movies. I was worried that X-men wouldn't be good because of the enormous catalog of stories from the 30+ years of its history, but they did a great job of it. I agree that a KOTOR movie will never happen, but it would be cool if someone turned it into a TV series on HBO or FX.
Darth InSidious
Just everyone hold on a moment. for K1 there is no "canon" ending. That is half the point! If there were a "canon" ending, the individuality of each playthrough would be spoiled...
