Lantzen Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Yesterday i broke my right arm, and now i wondering, do anyone know any good games for me, that can only use my left hand for the moment? Think im gonna do a rerun on Fallout2, but i would want some more options, so if you know any games, post them

Think im gonna do a rerun on Fallout2, but i would want some more options, so if you know any games, post them Most games that are turn-based or can be paused at any time to give commands should work fine to play with one hand. For example the Baldur's Gate, Planescape:Torment, the Neverwinter Nights series of RPGs. Or more turn-based games like Civilization or Alpha Centauri/Alien Crossfire.

Why don't ya just wait to play games again until the hand heals? Do you really need to play games until then?)
Jae Onasi Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Bummer about your arm. Hope you feel better soon. And the obvious choices to add to the list--Kotor and TSL.
Gargoyle King Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 And the obvious choices to add to the list--Kotor and TSL. Is this possible, a bit awkward isn't it?
Ztalker Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Kotor and TSL can be played with one arm...just walk around with the arrow keys, and press the pause button like hell when you see an enemy. Then you go and grab the mouse Another game you might try is Unreal Tournament. I don't know if your fingers are free, but Unreal only needs the wasd in a keyboard. Nothing else. The rest can be controller with the mouse. But anyways, good luck with your recovery.
tk102 Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Grim Fandango (or other adventure games) would also be suitable in your condition. Plus you know, humor is good when you're recovering. (Control keys for GF)
Lantzen Posted April 16, 2007 Author Posted April 16, 2007 I use the same hand for both the mouse and the keyboard, so UT is not a option. Il tryied BG2 earlier today, but it's pretty hard to controll the mouse with my left hand, and it was even harder to controll a group in battle. I didnt think about that you could move when holding down both the mouse button in Kotor, so i guess i could do a replay in that to. @Gargoyle_King: It will take 5-6 weeks before it heals, so if you have a better idea what i can do, please give a exempel
Gargoyle King Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 @Gargoyle_King: It will take 5-6 weeks before it heals, so if you have a better idea what i can do, please give a exempel Read a book, go skipping around a park singing "Oh Happy Days!" (joke, ). Seriously, point taken - didn't realise it was that long, lucky there are games out there that can be played one-handed! Good luck on your recovery.
Lantzen Posted April 16, 2007 Author Posted April 16, 2007 Well i didnt really state how long it would take to heal so, and i am reading a book to, dont know if this is the english name, but it should be ice trap by Dean Koontz. And i think i will reinstall Civilization, it take a long time to play and you never in a hurry
SithRevan Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Well I think it is safe to say things like Halo are out but other games such as Kotor you should be able to get through rather easily. Just remember when you get to a tough spot that has a lot of enemies to pause the game and take them out one at a time. Well anyway hope you get better soon, I have broken my wrist before on my right arm so I feel for ya.
CSI Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Solitaries never cease to impress you for one-handers. Of course, almost all RPGs are good for one handers. BTW hope your hand heal back soon.
REDJOHNNYMIKE Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Oh come on Aash, that's no way to play the best games.
tk102 Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Hey Lantzen, you might have a bum arm but your legs are still good right? Dance Dance Revolution pad + Stepmania (free download) And please use the Photo Album thread to post pics.
Jason Skywalker Posted April 16, 2007 Posted April 16, 2007 Sorry to hear about your arm. Heal well. Also, how about hibernating? I love doing it!
Davinq Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 @RJM: @Lantzen: Sorry, but this whole situation comes across as very funny to me. Games w/ one hand... lol.
REDJOHNNYMIKE Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 I recently made a silly little game...I could configure it to work with the mouse button instead of the space bar. I only used the bar because it seemed to work faster, and rapid clicking didn't influence mouse movement.
kotor_freak Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Ouch, sorry about your arm. I broke my right arm last year and the hospital said i should rest it, i ended up having to get the bones put back into place because i kept on playing TSL on my xbox xD Wii's an obvious choice, thats if you have one . Otherwise, TSL and K1 on your computer (if you have them on the computer ) It's quite easy actually, i saw this thread before and for some reason tested TSL out with one arm I got to the end of Telos, then my left arm got tired
dewayne26 Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 Sorry to hear bout your arm. I'm one handed by birth. i usually play games i lean to mouse control based games. but i try most games
tk102 Posted April 17, 2007 Posted April 17, 2007 ^^^ @dewayne26, I don't know if you have the need for one or not, but here's a keyboard remapper I wrote: KeyTweak
