Happy Father's Day!

Dangit! Why do people not tell me these things!!!

I was supposed to crash at the arcade all day because parking is free on sundays...

but nooooooo, apparently there is some holiday happening where they don't tell you it's there until the last minute and expect you to sit around all day and then pay for dinner!

It's just too complicated

I second DI's sentiment as expressed. So, Jimbo, Prime, Achilles et al......have a great day (and don't grumble too much when all YOUR money is spent on gifts of "dubious" value (you know, the cheap tie your kid gets you with your money that he/she got from mom, while spending the bulk of the $$ on goodies for themselves :p).

Happy father's day to those who deserve it...now I just have to write up a card and find a suitably lame/cheap/useless gift my dad will leave in its packaging in his office for three years before throwing out.

I suggest investing in a Chia Pet or the fish on the plaque that flops and sings 'Take me to the River'. :xp:

We took Jimbo, my son (who turns 10 today), and my dad out to a nice lunch where they indulged in ribs and chicken. We ate waaaaaay too much food. :) The men in the family are leaving tomorrow to go camping for a few days while we gals stay home and do chick things (which include playing Kotor and going to Six Flags). So, we got Jimbo a lot of camping supplies like long grill gloves, a grill basket, long tongs, apple and cherry wood chips for the smoker grill, marshamallows/hershey bars/graham crackers for making s'mores, and all those other fun things. :)

Well happy FD to my paps i suppose! Maybe one day i'll have a little'un saying that to me! :D

I tend to not agree with these "special day's" such as Valentine's, Mother's Day, Father's day, Halloween etc, way too commercialised if ya ask me but they are a positive thing i suppose to give something special back to your loved ones. Xmas is good (apart from seeing the family members you, well particularly don't like) and i love a good old Turkey roast with veg (lucky for all you people in the US, you get to have it twice with thanksgiving!)

Jae, those are awesome and timely presents. Unfortunately my dad is a hoarder and has all kinds of crap that--though perhaps useful--falls by the wayside in the mountain of trash that is contained in the depths of his office. He's not tech savvy, doesn't watch movies, doesn't listen to much music (and i got him 20 cds worth of oldies for christmas--one of the few benefits of working at a cd/dvd distributor) and travels a lot on business. There's really not much he needs, no one knows what he wants and we're all over a barrel every year when we try and find something for him (not to mention that I'm a *bit* too old to make him a picture with construction paper, glue and macaronis)

If I ever have kids, they will know forthwith that there is a present moratorium on made-up holidays.

Happy Father's Day. This time last year was also the day I registered on FanFiction.Net.

Um, happy 'day-you-first-registered-at-FF.net-day'? :xp:

A happy father's day to Jimbo, tk, Prime, Achilles, JediAthos and all the other dads out there!

You gals got off well. :p

I know my dad had a great Father's Day. The best gift I ever gave him is that is the day I graduated with my BA in Anthropology with research honors from McNair, distinction in the Greek community and Outstanding service to the Department of Anthropology. It was the best gift so he told me and to tell the truth, it is the best gift I ever gave.
