stoffe
Hard to pick and rank since there have been so many great games I've played over the years, but at the moment it would be something like: Planescape: Torment Baldur's Gate trilogy Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines Deus Ex Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri (+ Alien Crossfire) System Shock 2 Neverwinter Nights (1 & 2 + expansions) Knights of the Old Republic (1 & 2) Myth:The Fallen Lords The Elder Scrolls IV:Oblivion (+ expansions) Having missed Planescape, VtM: Bloodlines, and The Witcher I can't rate those. ;( Not too late yet, while the first two might be a bit tricky to find they are still available and works to play on today's computers. Well worth the effort in my opinion.
Serpentine Cougar
Warcraft 3 Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Super Smash Bro.s (N64) Final Fantasy X KotoR Nox Myst Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time The Sims Morrowind These are in no particular order, 'cuz that would be even harder than this already was - there's lots out there that I like. Gargoyle King
And yes, Final Fantasy VIII and VI is way better than VII! Funny you should mention that as Final Fantasy VII has to be one of my favourite game of all time! Onto Ze List Then: 10. The Legend Of Zelda - A Link To The Past. A Super Famicom classic, this is not only in my list but is also one of my favourite Zelda games of all time. 9. Star Fox. 'Nuff said really! 8. Front Mission. Where to start? i can only explain this game to be a blend of Action, RPG and RTS elements rolled into one. Great gameplay and involving story, by the great minds at Square. 7. Super Mario Kart The original Mario Kart was great and still is great. For it's age it still holds up pretty well as a strong racing title and the graphics at the time we're pretty good. 6. Spot Goes To Hollywood Apart from being (IMO) the best platformer game ever devised, fans of the original Cool Spot would love the sequel. The PSX version was updated with a whole load more content and would be the version i would recommend. 5. Darklight Conflict A hidden little gem. A great Arcade starfighter sim with engaging levels and pretty neat weaponry. Admittedly not as good as Colony Wars but still worth the look. 4. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time The best Zelda game ever created (i'm sure most people would agree with this). The story, gameplay and world was everything i wanted to play in a Zelda game. This is one game that will never grow old for me. 3. Super Mario 64 I'd be surprised if some people haven't heard of this gem. Mario's outing onto the 64 was just unbelievable, and showed that Mario could truly work in a 3D setting rather than the 2D sidescroller that gamers had previously been used to. Perhaps the best game to also grace the N64 aswell. 2. Final Fantasy VII My personal favourite in the FF series. For one it was the first 3D FF game and had an immersive story, arguebly the coolest baddie ever in a videogame (Sephiroth) aswell as the best sword (the Buster Sword) and had very addicitive systems and minigames such as the Materia system and the Snowboarding minigame. For those who have never played a FF game before then this isn't perhaps the best to begin with but to those FF Veterans whom gave this a miss for whatever reasons wouldn't be dissappointed (well i hope anywayz). 1. Drumrolls please ..................... Chrono Trigger!! Any RPG fan or game fan alike shouldn't have gave this one the miss. This is not only my fav game of all time but is also my fav RPG of all time. Square produced a game entirely different game to it's hot Final Fantasy franchise by placing the battles in realtime instead of your characters being whisked off randomly into battles every so often. I also felt that leveling up in Chrono Trigger was more refined and more challenging aswell. The story, at the time, also wasn't so RPG generic and so wasn't itself a cliché of past examples of the genre. Switching back and forth through time also gave the game an unchronological structure and almost gave the game a non-linear feeling; a rarity in games of the era. All in all im a bit of a Retro Junkie, but there's nothing wrong with that now is there!
Meowster
Funny you should mention that as Final Fantasy VII has to be one of my favourite game of all time! Oh, believe, me I love Final Fantasy VII. Aerith is my favorite character. It just...frustrates me somewhat. I love learning all I can from it, and enjoy all of the characters, but when I play it...it jus doesn't connect with me. But VII is a great game for begining players. VIII was just my favorite for the Junction, Characters, and plot [err...Plot from 1-end of 2 ] VI is wonderful. You have he wide assortment of characters, a fairly nice plot, set in medival times.
