Prime
I'm going to go ahead and copy the review I posted on my blog. I very much disliked The clone wars, btw.It just wasn't made for us, man, it just wasn't made for us. We need to hug it out and move on. EDIT: A friend of mine mentioned this to me. I think it is bang on: =
Astrotoy7
Lolz...Never trust a person whose "I" is worn out on their keyboard. Why is it people who like to lament endlessly have blogs. Whereas people with insight and a reasoned approach to critcism(like Prime and Niner) do not. That is the question that shall plague mankind to the end of days. It is possible to critique or even dislike a film without becoming overly emotional. *mental note never to stray near ETs blog* mtfbwya

ET Warrior
*mental note never to stray near ETs blog*My heart is breaking right now. While that's true, it doesn't mean it has to be either.True, but when your PRIMARY fan base is very likely made up of adults you're kind of being an ahole when you don't even TRY to make it somewhat watchable by adults who aren't completely blinded by the fact that 'omg I saw lightsaberz'. i thought that was the point of blogsI don't really know why else you'd have one... Edit - As usual I'm mildly amused how it's such a crime to have a negative opinion of something star wars related
Astrotoy7
I don't really know why else you'd have one... people with interesting occupations, working on great projects have great blogs...informative, even when critical. eg. here's a few that are always nice to have a squiz at, and not walk away wanting to strangle that person(or yourself) ...anyone into movies and TV would find them interesting, infinitely more enlightening than: "today I am full of anger and frustration...GRGGRGRRRRGHGGGGRRR!!!" or "I hate my stepdad. He better quit tellin me to clean my room OR ELSE" or "Don't watch this movie unless you actually hate yourself." >> here's some Director Kevin Smith's Blog page > silent bob speaks! wil wheaton in exile (yep, wesley crusher!) Director David Lynch's blog Zach Braff's blog - interesting Tv and movie info Joss Whedon's thingy, been a bit dull recently though/IMO or something a bit more tech/niche msdn developer A. Stebner I can understand why GL doesnt have a blog.... Can you imagine the amount of strain the poor servers it was based on would have, with all the malcontents wanting to spill their fan-ish ventings at the man. As usual I'm mildly amused how it's such a crime to have a negative opinion of something star wars related emotional negative can never do anyone any good....especially about so unemotional(you'd think!) a topic as a kids movie based in the SW universe. Constructive/Informative negative(see Prime and Niners reviews) are more valuable than gold. Their unemotional reviews have given quite a few people here some great detail, in order for them to be able to make a informed decision about whether to see it or not. Knowledge is Power! ET Warrior
lots of wordsWell it's a good thing that all I was trying to do was convey my personal opinion. I frankly care...somewhere around the level of zero how much my opinion sways other people. I don't understand why people pay attention to reviews anyway, opinions should be made for oneself, it seems disingenuous to allow others to decide your opinion. But yes, go ahead and continue to belittle and/or berate me for my opinions, I'm sorry that I'm not excited about the continued downfall of a once exciting franchise. Astrotoy7
well.... if he blogged as bad as he writes dialogue >.> I'd have to dig out my eyes with a spork after about a paragraph GL isnt known for his penetrating dialogue... If you are watching any of films for this, I'd say you're treading in an askew direction If you are referring to The love talk in AOTC, that was all Jonathan Hales fault he was brought in specifically to do that stuff. mtfbwya

Its not about that at all I simply recommend you dont let it upset you too much. Its not good for your health! adamqd
Saw it last night, I enjoyed it, but I have read and followed all EU and I intend to watch the series, so I'm just happy about more SW. The "Movie" itself is a 20 min episode spread over 90, and the conclusion was crammed into about 30 seconds, it didn't flow well at all. Good... Anakin, Sam Jackson, Christopher Lee, Ventress, OT locales, Stinky Not so Good... Capote the Hutt, Battle Droids, Lack of Content, Padawan in boob-tube lol If You (Like me) are a massive Star Wars freak and/or intend to watch the series it's a good introduction to GL/Filoni's vision of the CW era, but I dont think it's Standalone Movie :2cents:
Prime
Just because a movie is made for the kids doesn't mean that it can't be made enjoyable for the adults (Shrek, Monster Inc, The Incredibles, Toy Story).Agreed. So why can't Clone Wars be that way? I thought the micro series was. While that's true, it doesn't mean it has to be either.By why not be? Especially, as ET points out, a large chunk of the fanbase is adults. emotional negative can never do anyone any good....especially about so unemotional(you'd think!) a topic as a kids movie based in the SW universe. Constructive/Informative negative(see Prime and Niners reviews) are more valuable than gold. Their unemotional reviews have given quite a few people here some great detail, in order for them to be able to make a informed decision about whether to see it or not.But people have an emotional investment with the story and characters. That is what being a fan is all about. When people see those elements treated in a way they think is detrimental, they are going to have an emotional response. When I provide a review for something, I try to step back as much as possible and remove some of my emotion from it, but I still have an emotional response. Right now, I do feel like most of what is coming out relating to SW is either of poor quality or tramples what has come previously, or both. The past few years of post-RotJ novels, CG CW, TFU story, some other CW material (Traviss mainly) I have been disappointed with. I have been disappointed with how LFL has handled continuity. So much so that I have pretty much lost interest in all but a few titles (Legacy and KOTOR comics), and have become a movie purist. They're not really being 'aholes'. They don't have to, and shouldn't constantly pander to their die-hard fans, though. They're trying to tap into the best market for merchandise, and judging by the reaction of children who've seen it, they're winning. But I think the films have shown that they are going to sell a boatload of merchandise, regardless. A kid who sees ANH, ESB, or RotS is going to be keen on toys relating to that. That has always been the case. Having more adult themes and stories doesn't limit the merchandising potential. It isn't like making the show twice as kiddy sells twice as many toys. I think I have a beef partly because the lead up hype didn't really indicate that they were going solely for a young audience, and rightly or wrongly I assumed that it would be like the films and microseries and be targeted at a wider audience. Perhaps that was my mistake. Good... Anakin, Sam Jackson, Christopher Lee, Ventress, OT locales, Stinky Seriously?
Astor
By why not be? Especially, as ET points out, a large chunk of the fanbase is adults. [/Quote] I wasn't saying that they shouldn't ignore their adult fans (I am one, after all), but that they don't have to make it with adults in mind as well. Lots of franchises have done it - made adult oriented films and then gone and made child oriented films as well. Seriously? Umm... adamqd said that, Prime, not me. Astrotoy7
....But people have an emotional investment with the story and characters. That is what being a fan is all about... yes of course, we are all attached to the fond memories seeing the films, playing as young-uns gave us... *but* there are degrees to which people get worked up. One can have zeal without becoming a zealot I too am a bit concerned about EU...what worried me the most wasnt the content, but the quality of writing. I agree that Traviss seems to be at the heart of this.... Bring back Luceno dammit! mtfbwya

Burnseyy
I'm watching it when I get back, so I'll be the judge of how bad/good it is. I don't expect it to be amazing, but my expectations aren't high!
Revan 411
I can happily say that the movie, was a failure. It sucked, terrible stuff, not worth seeing, its not even worth the 10$ to go see it. My advice, DON'T GO WATCH IT!!!!
Titanius Anglesmith
I still can't decide if I'm going to see this or not. I was at the theater today, and was debating whether I should see this or The Dark Knight a fifth time. I ended up going with The Dark Knight... If it really is just the first three episodes of the series, I'll probably end up waiting until it premieres on TV.
Astrotoy7
I saw it today. It was actually worse than I expected. That's all I'll say. Im surprised you went! Must be unusual going to see a movie you weren't really keen on seeing. Guys only ever do that in the early days of being with a new girlfriend, but you dont usually watch the film much anyway @Schmorgy... yep. if you are that unsure, just wait to see it on dvd/tv You wont have too long to wait mtfbwya
Prime
Umm... adamqd said that, Prime, not me. Sorry! Cut and paste fail! A question for those who saw it. Guys only ever do that in the early days of being with a new girlfriend, but you dont usually watch the film much anyway Are you implying what I think you're implying? And I decided to give it one chance. I'm certainly not going to watch the show, I can tell you that much. Let's just hope the other TV series pilot is more promising. A question for those who saw it. Would your feelings be different if you had first seen it on TV as three episodes for free? I don't think so. It certainly felt like it was three episodes, so I doubt it would make a difference. It would be cheaper, though. Well, if it were three episodes, I probably would have stopped watching after the first one. That's the only difference I see. adamqd
A question for those who saw it. Would your feelings be different if you had first seen it on TV as three episodes for free? Thats basically my point, not the £5 thing, but the fact that it's not really a movie, but what seems to be the first 3 ep's of a great series, and i feel people will judge it against recent blockbusters (I know it made big money, but content, animation etc)
