Lol.

I guess a more accurate way for me to phrase it would be '- Deus Ex : Invisible War was more fun to play than Deus Ex'. I had such low expectations of it after reading the reviews that I put off playing it until a year after release, only to throughly enjoy myself.

Consequently, I've replayed it many more times than the origional (I do honestly think though that the sequel has more replay value).

Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace: The one game that got me into Star Wars. Pretty great action, a whole lot of fun, loved the manual blaster deflection that was missing in JK. I don't know why so many people hate it.

Same here! That game is awesome and will always have a special place in my heart.

Also, Episode 1 Racer is great.

NWN 2: So boring, just like NWN 1. I'd rather play BG2 a few more times than to endure the boredom that is NWN. (motb is awesome though..)

To each his own, I suppose. I don't hate Deus Ex: Invisible War, it's a great game alright, just not "Deus Ex" like the original. And the gameplay in the two games was substantially different, so I wouldn't be surprised if someone likes the latter over the former. Trex here I'm guessing must be a console gamer at heart, yes?

So have I, because replaying is pretty much a given in a game that gives you hundreds of choices and lasts only 8-10 hours. :p This reminds me, I need to see if someone has managed to speedrun the game in 20 seconds.

Lemme add some more names now:

Max Payne 2: Fall of Max Payne - As much as I loved the production values of the title, I hated the Neo-style bullet-time gameplay and the direction the story took. They twisted all the preconceptions I had of the character, and while Max was still okay, Mona and Vlad were just annoying. Gameplay was way easier than the original, what with that stupid standard bullet time indea. And most of all, I miss the old Max with his quirky face expressions.

Planescape: Torment - Could be that it's just old now, but that combat was terribly annoying and distracting. After about half of the game, I just went on godmode. For a game with a story that's a whole two decades ahead of its time, the combat was pretty annoying.

Bookworm and Bookworm Adventures - Two largely underrated games, especially the latter. A well-designed, fun to play RPG adventure involving word creation? I'm sold!

Well noted. At least with something in a First person view. I still can't quite aim right with a mouse.

Ya, I find extremely frequently crashing, bug riddled and oversimplified games really fun also

Ah, see that's one of the way consoles are useful. It's just a shame that out of my entire collection, DE:IW is one of the few that doesn't run on the xbox360, and by the looks of it never will. I have to keep the old xbox classic around.

Anyway, here's a few more kamikaze statements-

- Baldur's Gate 2 is my favourite game of all time, but wouldn't be if it didn't come with the vastly underrated Throne of Bhaal.

- Kyle Katarn is kinda boring.

- The scariest level of all time isn't in any horror game. It's in thief 3 (you'll know which level if you've played it).

That solves it then. Invisible War was designed especially to accomodate console players to the game, hence the oversimplification and radical design decisions, such as smaller maps and less complicated gameplay.

The trade-off was, a huge departure from Deus Ex's design hence creating a breed of IW-haters (good jawathehutt and Corinthian), DX-haters (or at least dislikers) and a breed of sensible folk like me who realise that both games are just very different, and while one may be better than the other, they're both waaay above competition anyways. :D

I wonder if they're going to keep Deus Ex 3 simplified or what. Eidos Montreal said that they'll make it more like the first game and all, but they have to cater to console fans too. I hope they don't screw up the detailed weapon/augmentation details and stuff. I loved the depth of that stuff. :D

I've definately read somewhere that they intend to ditch the 'one ammo for all weapons' approach, but I'm not sure about the weapon augs.

To be honest though, I've tried not to read too much about it. I'll just get too overexcited before the release in 2010.

I've missed out on the greatest game of all time and I intend on fixing that as soon as possible

fix'd

As for 3, I too am avoiding most of the news on it, since the only thing that ever comes from over hyping about a game before it is released is disappointment over the final version.

i still don't get all the hype around both of the Deus Ex games. yeah, they're good games, but i really can't call them great games.

that probably comes from me playing the games only recently, though. its hard to compare classics because so much of today's great games borrow a lot of concepts from those old classics, and when you experience the original concept, it just doesn't translate as fluidly. well, that and getting used to the graphics and audio from back in the day can be rather awkward at times.

I do plan on playing it someday, with the failure of next-gen games just being pretty and having crappy gameplay and occasionally a good story, I need to play games that are worth my while...I can't beleive I have never played Deus Ex...with my obsession with sci-fi shooters..

Far Cry 2:to me is crap compared to the Far Cry Instincts series, which I loved! The multiplayer is waay to slow and spawn times are horrible, the map editor is the only thing that shines, Instincts and the orginal Far Cry on PC had a much better....everything!

Yeah, worst mistake of Far Cry 2 was leaving Crytek.
