Bee Hoon Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 - Deus Ex : Invisible War is more fun to play than Deus Ex*munches popcorn while waiting for Sabre to rip Trex to shreds*
Trex Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 *munches popcorn while waiting for Sabre to rip Trex to shreds* Lol. I guess a more accurate way for me to phrase it would be '- Deus Ex : Invisible War was more fun to play than Deus Ex'. I had such low expectations of it after reading the reviews that I put off playing it until a year after release, only to throughly enjoy myself. Consequently, I've replayed it many more times than the origional (I do honestly think though that the sequel has more replay value).
Vaelastraz Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace: The one game that got me into Star Wars. Pretty great action, a whole lot of fun, loved the manual blaster deflection that was missing in JK. I don't know why so many people hate it. Same here! That game is awesome and will always have a special place in my heart. Also, Episode 1 Racer is great. NWN 2: So boring, just like NWN 1. I'd rather play BG2 a few more times than to endure the boredom that is NWN. (motb is awesome though..)
GeneralPloKoon Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Star Wars Obi-Wan:not the best Star Wars game, but I loved it....call me crazy but i'd play many more times if I could find a copy thats not online!
Ctrl Alt Del Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 Guitar Hero is boring as hell That game actually made me want to learn how to play on guitars.
Commander Obi-Wan Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 That game actually made me want to learn how to play on guitars. QFT. I wish I played some sort of instrument when I was younger. I still wanna learn how to play on a guitar and definitely want to learn how to play the drums well.
jawathehutt Posted January 24, 2009 Posted January 24, 2009 - Deus Ex : Invisible War is more fun to play than Deus Ex Ya, I find extremely frequently crashing, bug riddled and oversimplified games really fun also
Sabretooth Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 *munches popcorn while waiting for Sabre to rip Trex to shreds* To each his own, I suppose. I don't hate Deus Ex: Invisible War, it's a great game alright, just not "Deus Ex" like the original. And the gameplay in the two games was substantially different, so I wouldn't be surprised if someone likes the latter over the former. Trex here I'm guessing must be a console gamer at heart, yes? Consequently, I've replayed it many more times than the origional (I do honestly think though that the sequel has more replay value). So have I, because replaying is pretty much a given in a game that gives you hundreds of choices and lasts only 8-10 hours. This reminds me, I need to see if someone has managed to speedrun the game in 20 seconds. Lemme add some more names now: Max Payne 2: Fall of Max Payne - As much as I loved the production values of the title, I hated the Neo-style bullet-time gameplay and the direction the story took. They twisted all the preconceptions I had of the character, and while Max was still okay, Mona and Vlad were just annoying. Gameplay was way easier than the original, what with that stupid standard bullet time indea. And most of all, I miss the old Max with his quirky face expressions. Planescape: Torment - Could be that it's just old now, but that combat was terribly annoying and distracting. After about half of the game, I just went on godmode. For a game with a story that's a whole two decades ahead of its time, the combat was pretty annoying. Bookworm and Bookworm Adventures - Two largely underrated games, especially the latter. A well-designed, fun to play RPG adventure involving word creation? I'm sold!
Rogue15 Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 real life is actually a good game when you turn cheat codes on.
jrrtoken Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 real life is actually a good game when you turn cheat codes on.You mean acid? That one's the best.
Boba Rhett Posted January 25, 2009 Author Posted January 25, 2009 I wish the money x command from Vampire: The Masquerade worked in real life. Think of all the lower back pain that half the population would have from their new 48DDDs.
Trex Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Trex here I'm guessing must be a console gamer at heart, yes? Well noted. At least with something in a First person view. I still can't quite aim right with a mouse. Ya, I find extremely frequently crashing, bug riddled and oversimplified games really fun also Ah, see that's one of the way consoles are useful. It's just a shame that out of my entire collection, DE:IW is one of the few that doesn't run on the xbox360, and by the looks of it never will. I have to keep the old xbox classic around. Anyway, here's a few more kamikaze statements- - Baldur's Gate 2 is my favourite game of all time, but wouldn't be if it didn't come with the vastly underrated Throne of Bhaal. - Kyle Katarn is kinda boring. - The scariest level of all time isn't in any horror game. It's in thief 3 (you'll know which level if you've played it).
Sabretooth Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 Well noted. At least with something in a First person view. I still can't quite aim right with a mouse. That solves it then. Invisible War was designed especially to accomodate console players to the game, hence the oversimplification and radical design decisions, such as smaller maps and less complicated gameplay. The trade-off was, a huge departure from Deus Ex's design hence creating a breed of IW-haters (good jawathehutt and Corinthian), DX-haters (or at least dislikers) and a breed of sensible folk like me who realise that both games are just very different, and while one may be better than the other, they're both waaay above competition anyways. I wonder if they're going to keep Deus Ex 3 simplified or what. Eidos Montreal said that they'll make it more like the first game and all, but they have to cater to console fans too. I hope they don't screw up the detailed weapon/augmentation details and stuff. I loved the depth of that stuff.

I loved the depth of that stuff. I've definately read somewhere that they intend to ditch the 'one ammo for all weapons' approach, but I'm not sure about the weapon augs. To be honest though, I've tried not to read too much about it. I'll just get too overexcited before the release in 2010.
jawathehutt Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 I've missed out on the greatest game of all time and I intend on fixing that as soon as possible fix'd As for 3, I too am avoiding most of the news on it, since the only thing that ever comes from over hyping about a game before it is released is disappointment over the final version.
Pho3nix Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 You mean acid? That one's the best. Nawh. Heroin is godmode. I've never played Deus Ex... Me neither actually. Always wanted to try it out though. :/

Rogue Nine Posted January 25, 2009 Posted January 25, 2009 I'll never understand why console FPSes are so popular. Thumbs # adequate substitutes for WASD and a mouse.

I do plan on playing it someday, with the failure of next-gen games just being pretty and having crappy gameplay and occasionally a good story, I need to play games that are worth my while...I can't beleive I have never played Deus Ex...with my obsession with sci-fi shooters.. Far Cry 2:to me is crap compared to the Far Cry Instincts series, which I loved! The multiplayer is waay to slow and spawn times are horrible, the map editor is the only thing that shines, Instincts and the orginal Far Cry on PC had a much better....everything!

Yeah, worst mistake of Far Cry 2 was leaving Crytek.
Sabretooth Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 And still, DE =/= good gameplay. *slaps CAD with a glove* Deus Ex not only had very strong gameplay, but it introduced tons of new concepts that were later shamelessly borrowed by other games. I thoroughly disagree with your statement and challenge you to a duel!
Rabish Bini Posted January 26, 2009 Posted January 26, 2009 don't hate just cuz you can't play it I'm actually pretty good at it, or used to be good at it That game actually made me want to learn how to play on guitars. Making you want to learn guitar =/= Good
