Phatt
I'll believe this when I see a press release from LucasArts. I've heard too many phony Monkey rumors in the past 9 years. And even with official word from LucasArts, There's no guarantee it'll actually get released.

Laserschwert
Did you notice that the LucasArts-store now also has some new MI-merchandise? Furthermore IGN has some clips from the SE up. Gotta LOVE the newly recorded version of the main theme... or at least the portion that can be heard. Well... meh... nothing compared to Purcell's original. Phatt
What the hell is up with Threepwood's hair? Looks really 80's. The logo looks like crap too.
MusicallyInspired
Of course it's nothing like the original cover, but I love it anyway. I also give props to them for how they want to mimic the original as closely as possible while at the same time showing it to a new generation in a new way. Phatt
Now I know why all the 30-somethings were complaining in '97 when the Star Wars Special Edition came out. Any change to a classic is going to rub people the wrong way who grew up with the franchise.

Any change to a classic is going to rub people the wrong way who grew up with the franchise. I dunno, if you take a close look at it, it looks like they did a damn fine job, and you can always revert back to the original version if you want. Samnmax221
I really would have preferred it looked like a mix of CMI and Disney's Deep Canvas. Also the hair could stand to be fixed a bit. Still I'm happy. Jeff please tell them I don't think they're quite as big of cocksuckers anymore.

Erwin_Br
This new cover makes me want to stomp Guybrush in his smugly face. And let me also repeat myself: WTF did they do with his hair!? The demo movie looks pretty awesome, non the less. They did a great job on the new backgrounds and stuff. Voice acting seems to be all right as well. Laserschwert
A little interview + hands-on right HERE. And according to that interview, Earl Boen is returning as LeChuck for the SE.
Sven_Q45
Now the cover is all the same! I say it again: MI 1 SE and Telltales: Tales of Monkey Island (MI 5)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nickelstein
The voices and music are great but the graphics are a bit meh.
James Isaac
I'm really not a fan of the graphics in MI5 - they look about a decade out of date and very rushed. I much preferred EMI's pre-rendered style.
Goldblum
We are demanding they do less work. Megaman IX did it right. Throwback graphics.
Phatt
Why does every new incarnation of Monkey Island require a completely new artistic style and redesign of Guybrush? Steve Purcell's original art direction was the best, and should've been the standard to follow, 3D or no 3D.
urluckyday
Now I'm currently awaiting the same kind of graphics upgrade for grim fandango and port to the 360!
urluckyday
Oh and the crew for the new "Tales" from Telltale looks amazing...true all-stars when it comes to adventure game designers.
Goldblum
Why does every new incarnation of Monkey Island require a completely new artistic style and redesign of Guybrush? Steve Purcell's original art direction was the best, and should've been the standard to follow, 3D or no 3D. We should go on a date. What are you doing Friday? Sven_Q45
I´m thinking. If there is now a new version for the newer generation of players and they come up with the idea. Is MI 1 (the old version) now going to be rare and expensive? For example on E-Bay.
MusicallyInspired
You know, Ron Gilbert himself said that he thought the style of the closeups in the original Monkey Island never fit the game.

Steve Purcell's original art direction was the best, and should've been the standard to follow, 3D or no 3D. I agree wholeheartedly, but hey... overall you have to say this is fantastic. I hope they do the same with MI2, then we'll have the first 3 games in a great state. EMI isn't worth "saving". I'm actually more excited about this remake than MI5, which seems to have the same cheesy 3D graphics as MI4... I just pray it won't have that awful interface. I've played Monkey 1, 2 and 3 probably 50 times over, each, and you know to this day I still haven't completed EMI. I just pull my hair out at it whenever I try. But a remake of MI1, faithful to the original...
