BongoBob
I recently came across this godly amount of awesomeness. Maybe I'm the only one here that didn't know about this, but I feel I must spread the gospel of the High Res Texture pack for Ocarina of Time. Note: Preemptive strike: No, I'm not advocating any form of piracy here, and everything I linked to is 100% legal, with no links to ROMs. Find an Ocarina of time ROM on your own time if you're wanting to try this out. I have it set at fullscreen at 1900x1080 on my 24" monitor, and I must say this gave me a nerdgasm.
jrrtoken
Looks really good, especially the cel shaded textures. It's not going to improve upon Impa's polygonal boobs, though.
BongoBob
If only there were a way to improve the Geometry However, it's still 100% better than the base game. I can actually read the text on my monitor on full screen from my bed without having to squint through the fuzz.
MrWally
I've never played Ocarina of time. *ducks* I should probably qualify that by saying that I never owned a Nintendo Console, so I'm not completely at fault. This seems pretty awesome, though.

ZBomber
I'LL SAVE THIS THREAD Ocarina of Time was the greatest game I've ever played, and most likely ever WILL play. I have so many good memories of that game, and play it every other year or so. Earlier this year I played through Majora's Mask. ZELDA IS AWESOME! And those textures look awesome, but since my monitor isnt too great and I dont have a USB N64 controller, I'll just stick to playing it on the N64. BongoBob
I have the Wireless Adapter for 360 accessories on the computer, and I just use my wireless 360 controller. It's not perfect (still havn't found a nice way to map all the buttons), but I can kick back on my bed and play it fine and extremely comfortably
Darth Avlectus
Wow. Didn't think anyone cared much for older zelda games or the N64 era, anymore. I remember when nintendo was selling the collectible flute with special copies of this game to subscribers of nintendo power.
Boba Rhett
No longer care? Dude, it's still arguably the best Zelda ever put out.

IG-64
OoT is one of the best games ever made, given the resources at the time. It made huge open worlds a realization, and the art and story was top notch-to say nothing of the game progression. It was unprecedented and still impressive today. Of course, that doesn't mean you have to like it. I never played OoT. I got hooked on Twilight Princess and played it for hours straight until I beat it. After I beat it, I got OoT on the Virtual Console. After getting maybe halfway through it, for one reason or another, I lost interest and stopped playing. I wanted to like it; and maybe I would have if I hadn't played TP first. The classic controller was fine, and the controls didn't bother me. It was still a good game, but I just got bored with it and I don't really know why. That doesn't mean I'm gonna say it sucks, or even overrated. It's kind of like Citizen Kane. I watched it to the end and it was boring to me. It's not because it was old. I like a ton of old movies. I like a ton of old games too. But Citizen Kane is regarded as one of-if not the best films ever made. The same goes for Zelda and video games. Point is, times change, and impressive achievements might not have the same impact today as they had when they were released. If you don't like it, that's fine, nothing can really change that, but don't say it sucks. And GTA:SW, stop trying to act older than everyone else. I got my SNES in 1994 and later got a NES. I'm sure most people here have great 8 and 16-bit games they still love. Heck, I'm sure some here still remember playing Pong and arcades.

In the livingroom of my house a number of consoles will at one point or another be hooked up to the tv. One day it will be the Wii, the next day the SNES, the next day the N64. Cause I gave all my consoles (besides my Xbox, 360, PS2, and Dreamcast) to my little brother. And I will hop on them for a bit with him from time to time, and every once in a while will dig out my Dreamcast and play that.
Lynk Former
OoT was originally a remake of ALttP... hence the many striking similarities the two share. But I love OoT and MM equally for very different reasons.
IG-64
I remember a very long time ago I went into Funcoland and played a bit of ALttP and loved it. I never actually picked it up though, so I've never played it longer than maybe 5 minutes.
Q
ALttP is my favorite Zelda game. I didn't know that OoT was meant to be a remake of it, but I did note the similarities between the two. IMO, ALttP is a hell of a lot of fun and very worthwhile for anyone who hasn't played it before.

ZBomber
citation? Yeah, I never heard of the OoT being a remake before either. As for old games... I never had a SNES, but I DID have a NES and a Genesis... I just bought a refurbished NES last summer and my ex-girlfriend had a SNES, so I finally got to play that too last summer. I didnt play ALTTP until the GBA version came out, so while I'm sure it lost some of its initial "wow" (as with any game you play so late) I still enjoyed it. IG-64
You never had a SNES? =-O So, wait, you haven't played through Donkey Kong Country 1 and 2, Super Mario World, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's island, Super Mario RPG, Star Fox, Super Metroid, or Kirby Superstar? Like I said, my ex-girlfriend had a SNES so I got to play SNES games last summer. I got to play DKC1, SMW, Star Fox, and Kirby Superstar. I played Super Mario RPG and Super Metroid on the Wii VC. Still havent played SMW2 or DKC2. But yeah, all my friends had NES and Genesis... she was literally the first person I met who had a SNES... I ended up buying her a ton of games because I wanted to try so many of the games.
Lynk Former
citation? I'm trying to find you a link. I originally read it in a magazine back in the late 90s and found the info again on the net some time later, but when I search google for info all I get are recent comments from Aonuma where he says he wants to do a remake of ALttP. I'll try to find it though when I can be bothered XD I think playing through both games is enough indication that it's true though since the similarities are that obvious.
