Shem Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 It's very important to be quiet in a courtroom. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-jailed-for-yawning-10-aug10,0,3679452.story
Burnseyy Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 That's insane lol... Just comes to show that the prison system is ********ed.
Te Je'karta Mand'alor Posted August 10, 2009 Posted August 10, 2009 that's a bit harsh don't you think?
Darth_Yuthura Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Well if it was deliberately meant as an implication, then I COULD understand it, but if it was just a physical reaction to fatigue... then that would be messed up.
Gob Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 waste of tax dollars This story is disgusting propaganda that severely limits health care for the elderly.
Litofsky Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 From what the article says, the judge seems to dislike interruptions in his courtroom, but seems to reduce the sentence to a few days after people apologize. *shrugs*
Darth_Yuthura Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 No jail time; just stick him with a fine! That'll not be a waste of taxpayer dollars and the guy will get the point.
Litofsky Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 No jail time; just stick him with a fine! That'll not be a waste of taxpayer dollars and the guy will get the point. No complaints here, but this judge's definitely got a different view on acting out in his courtroom. Maybe he takes his job too seriously, but, on the other hand, there is a certain respect that a courthouse should command.
Darth_Yuthura Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Well this judge certainly is not doing anything but feeding his pride by what he did. I hope that everyone knows just how many taxpayer dollars he squandered on this.
vanir Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Well at least we know if you enter this judge's courtroom, show some respect and STFU. Weird, people don't do that to begin with. So...has the this cousin tried an apolegy? That seems to work. Maybe it's a battle of wills...really dumb situation to do that.
Tobias Reiper Posted August 11, 2009 Posted August 11, 2009 Dude, come on. This Judge is just stupid. Cool name, though.
knight 12167 Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 LOl I gave this article to my uncle, who is a Judge It ended up on the court noticeboard!!!!!! Thanks Shem!
Ulmont Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 I'd love to know how they stretched that out into a two page article.
Darth Avlectus Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 While I understand that it is a courtroom...I think judges need to be put in their place sometimes; a humbling. A lot of times. Some of them have a place in an alligator tank. Just goes to show, judges think they are gods. So I guess treat them as such unless you want to face their wrath. (Don't even blink unless they command it.) While the timing of the yawn may be quesitonable, stranger things have happened.
Ulmont Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 It just goes to show that some people have no sence of humor. Like the FBI, or CIA, or KGB, or FAA, or DHS, etc.
Astor Posted August 22, 2009 Posted August 22, 2009 A yawn may be an 'involuntary action', but it must have been fairly audible to catch the judge's attention. After all - most people can yawn with a minimum of noise - almost none, in fact. I do agree that the 6 months in prison is a tad... uneccessary. 6 hours or so would have most likely sufficed.
