Taak Farst
Basically, what were the artists that kept u entertained and who influenced you the most in music? Michael Jackson, Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, David Bowie, Queen and Bon Jovi have been the artists i have liked the most and for the longer amount of time. Bon Jovi is a huge artist for me - i have ALL of his albums so far..

Bob Lion54
Traditional. The dude could flat out write. He was definitely very influential and seems to have written songs in every part of the world during his rather long life.
jawathehutt
Rock, pop, stuff like that: The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Bon Jovi, ACDC, Tom Petty Rap and stuff like that: TI, Lil Wayne, Kid Cudi, Sean Kingston Lately I've been listening almost exclusively to remixes and mashups and those usually have a lot of artists and I don't remember any of the DJs
Jae Onasi
Guillaume Dufay. You have not heard heaven until you've heard DesPrez's Qui Habitat done by a 76-person choir. Other influential musicians, not in any particular order (note that one can have 'great influence' without being 'greatest in the world'): Beatles Mozart Beethovan Tchaikovsky Rachmaninoff Bach Queen U2 Eric Clapton Kamelot/Epica/Within Temptation/Nightwish/Evanescence (for goth/symphonic metal genre) Josquin DesPrez Andrew Lloyd Weber Elton John Les Paul Sting Genesis/Phil Collins John Williams Howard Ashman and Alan Menken Mandy Patinkin Pavarotti Andrea Bocelli Thomas Morley Handel The Who Buddy Holly Eagles That's a good start, if quite eclectic. Gurges-Ahter
I could make a very long list on this topic, but I'll stick to a few that really influenced me the most. I think the common thread running through my short list is that these all occurred around the same time (my early to mid teens), which are obviously very formative years in personal taste. Nirvana 2Pac Alice in Chains Soundgarden Stone Temple Pilots Smashing Pumpkins Mad Season

Astor
Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Sammy Davis Jr, Bing Crosby, Glenn Miller and a whole host of other crooners. I don't know much about classical music, but I like what i've heard of Handel and Purcell. More recently, however, I seem to have become a fan of Simon and Garfunkel. Ping
The Beatles, Tchaikovsky, Beethoven, Royksopp, Kraftwerk, Blue Man Group. Not much of a music listener, but the pieces by these guys are the only ones that actually entertained me a bit.
