Alien, SW, ST, Predator, and LotR.

and i had to vote Predator after the recent Predators movie. it gave me renewed optimism that the franchise still has a lot of potential.

I'm hoping that Prometheus 2012 does the same thing for me with the Alien franchise. However my hopes are not high despite what looks like a decent cast. Of course Alien 3 and Alien: Resurrection had a decent cast too.

What? they made movies after Aliens? I must have purged them from my brain with liberal quantities of alcohol. I'm sure there was a reason for that.

Unfortunately......yes. Couldn't even get through that third one and the fourth was only marginally better. You did the right thing purging them from your memory..... Alien was good in that suspense kind of way, Aliens for the kick-ass violence and humor.....though I still prefer the 2nd to the 1st.

Star Wars. Of course this is a site based on a Star Wars game, so why am I not surprised Star Wars is in the lead? ;)

Out of the choices given, Star Wars, Star Trek, Galactica, LotR, Terminator (just because it's Aaaarghnold) and Predator (because it's the Predator. 'Nuff said.) :D

Oh yeah, and Pirates - like the Terminator and the Predator, not intellectually engaging, but hilarious.

The problem with voting for Star Wars is that Star Wars is not exactly unified in it's quality. Sure, you've got your Original Trilogy, your X-Wing, your KotoR,, your Jedi Knight, your Thrawn Trilogy, but you've also got your New Trilogy, Force Commander, your The Force Unleashed, and your New Jedi Order. It's the most impressive mix of quality with dross that I've ever seen.

This is a Star Wars forum, I could have told you the outcome without you wasting your time.

Faction Paradox, which also isn't in the poll. :p

The problem being that Christopher Lee was only in the -worst- Star Wars episode.

But seriously, define Better.

Well, he appeared briefly in the worst SW film. Though I don't quite understand why you omitted Attack of the Clones like that, which has far more of him on-screen. ;)

Are you saying those have no quality? Or that those mentioned before are quality perfect?

No, I'm saying that the former are genuinely good works, and the latter are genuinely bad works.

Have to agree with you there, it's a very mixed bag.

I still like the prequels however, even though, i know i shouldn't

Since most of the franchises I like have had very mixed quality, I've not put down one favorite.

Instead, I voted for any one which I watched and enjoyed (to varying degrees, for different reasons), as long as I had enjoyed more than one instance of it, amounting to at least ~3 hours. In other words, for TV shows, at least 4 episodes, for movie series, at least 2 films, etc.

I made 2 exceptions to the '3 hour rule' though.

1. The Matrix. Although I only really liked the first film, and think it's overrated, I'm a sucker for cool but impractical gunfights that don't try to pretend to be realistic.

2. Predator. Despite not having good sequels IMO, watching it with some friends at an inappropriately young age led to all manner of fun, probably life-threatening games involving sneaking through the forest covered with mud and leaves, armed with sticks, and jumping off of trees we'd climbed to surprise each other. Sadly someone's parents found out what was going on (the mud-caked clothing might have been a hint), and soon we were all forbidden to ever play 'Predators vs. Commandos' again. Still, that alone is enough to make me love the movie forever.

Lord of the Rings is way overrated. The films are just too long and they bored me to tears.

Yeah, the epic battle scenes and awesome cinematography are just so dull.
