I say you get both if you can afford it. ;)

But since most people can't afford both, I vote for the PS2... I just hate the frickin' controller for XBox - and the Playstation controllers are still the most comfortable ones I've used.

Plus Playstation has more games. :D

It looks like the PS2 is winning. I personally like the PS2 because it has a broder range of games and no matter what game it is PS2 always has it with a few exceptions. I love to play SOCOM and Jedi Starfighter. You can also play your old PS, XBox does look good but at the rate that games are coming out it looks like it will be no competition for the PS2.

quit being a loser (j/k) and get both.

well, quit being lazy and do some research first, go to http://www.ign.com and see what games both consoles have, and which has more of what you want. That's kinda what I did, (except between Xbox and Gamecube) and I'm going to get an Xbox whenever I get a job, since it has a few games that are going to be awesome like:

Fable (aka Project Ego, me and my friend are always going to call it that)

B.C.

Halo

Halo 2

Turok Evolution

Dino Crisis 3

Metal Gear X

Star Wars Galaxies

Knights of the Old Republic

Jedi Outcast

of course, half those are coming out next year.

I haven't really been interested in PS2, so i can't really comment on it except that it has backwards compatability and Final Fantasy games. :)

Xbox: Halo

Ps2: Socom

winner: tie

Xbox: DOA3

ps2: Tekken 4 & VF 4 (two games to equal 1)

winner: Xbox

Xbox: Madden 2003

ps2: Madden 2003 (w/ worse graphics)

winner: Xbox

Xbox: Ninja Gaiden (coming)

ps2: Shinobi (coming)

winner: tie

Xbox: Panzer Dragoon Orta (coming)

Ps2: uuuuuhhhhh.....

winner: Xbox

Xbox: DOA Beach Volleyball (say what you want...)

Ps2: uuuhhhh.....

winner: Xbox

Xbox has standard hard drive, ps2 will have to purchase hd upgrade. Xbox already has an ethernet card, ps2 requires upgrade...only matters if you're gonna play games on-line, I have a PC for that...

Controllers are no longer an issue, there are adapters out that will allow you to use ps2 contollers on the Xbox & the Xbox's own Controller-S.

Xbox has a custom designed Invidia Graphics card, ps2 has nothing similar.

the amount of games is the only advantage that ps2 has on Xbox, but sheer volume doesn't really matter, it's quality...who has the BETTER games? IMHO, Xbox is the better of the two

also, I'm not up on current games since leaving my position at the local Gamestop so I'd be happy to receive updates and comparisons of PS2 titles

p.s. all of the above is my opinion and should be taken as such, if you disagree with me, state why...I'll be happy to elaborate on anything to anyone who wants it...just e-mail me :)

People who say this havent played the XBox since launch...

That is the truth, Xbox has some seriously great games, but the one thing that, to me, really sticks out is the not needing a memory card. My friend has a PS2 and he can only fit about 5 or 6 saves for Hitman 2 on his card, and it's full. I have about 10 or 15 saves, not ot mention all my other saves, and i still have 50,000+ blocks of memory! YEAH!
