Old_Ben
Yes, Alec Guinness was a great actor. I enjoy Ewan MacGregor's Obi Wan also. They both have their own way of portyaing him, but I like both versions.
TheWhiteRaider
I like the older one. I think that he was a better actor, but that does not mean that McGregor can't act.
gorganfloss
I like McGregor as Obi a bit better. I dont know why, though.
JediNyt
Both. No way to choose between such great actors.
Darth Talliusc
ewan mcgregors character is aimed at the society of today. alec guinness' was aimed at the society 20 years ago. i wont be surprised if ewan wins, hes marketed to us..... yeah i picked ewan. *if anybody tries to pick obi-wan13 they get slapped!*

SettingShadow
Nooooooo I cant choose between those great actors, I think that they both played him very well.
Hekx
I like both the actors who played Obi-wan Kenobi. Both did a fine job Ewan gets my vote though, due to the current time and special effects of the newer movies.
Sivy
i think they couldn't of found anyone better to play the young obi-wan, just like they couldn't of found anyone better to play the older obi-wan
C'jais
I knew this thread would pop up. Stop the damn polls already... That said, I think Obi Wan in episode 2 had the most funky haircut and beard - therefore he gets my vote. Both played him very well, though. PhantomHelix
i thought they were both very good.......they both were very good at playing Obiwans part and made him a cool guy.
ZBomber
both good, but Obi in episode 4 did not jump around, he just swung his lightsaber back in forth. So Ewan gets my vote.
ckcsaber
I liked Alec Guiness version of Obi Wan better. He was more experiance and gave us all the picture of a wise old jedi master in episode 4.
Rogue15
obiwan13 of course! fine fine...ewan.
Kstar__2
ewan really had fun playing it, you can see it in his eyes, and alec guinnes just's hasn't, so my vote goes to ewan
mima kake
I gp for guinness. I mean ewan could use the things guinnes did. While guines had to build up the character from scratch.
lllKyNeSlll
... old one because its more classic . its the obiwan that i picture when the words obiwan are spoken

The same thing I was going to say. I like old school obi a little better. But both actors did a fine job. Different times and of course we get to see a lot more of young obi. Old Ben was the man! Here's a question: Do you think it's becuase the actors are good or they've been molded to play the part by Lucas? Do you think anybody could play the part of Obi-wan Kenobi? BTW: did you know that George Lucas was going to cast *pukes* N'SYNC as extras for the movie, but due to overwhelming amounts of hate-mail he decided against it. Good choice (I woulda picked New Kids on the Block, lol).
Darth Talliusc
must... resist...urge....to slap.... rogue15.... GAHHHHHHHHHH *pop* much better, i dont think that just anybody could play the part of obi-wan kenobi but a fair bit of what we see is because of the directors and writers. i wonder what ep2 wouldve been like if Ewan wrote his own lines.... the focus of epIV obi-wan was a kindly grandfather type. he was a kind, sort of laidback teacher. he was never too concerned with what was going on. he was much calmer then prequel obi-wan. the focus of prequel obi-wan was as a strict teacher who took everything too seriously. those actors pulled off those parts well and for that they are regarded as great actors. these are just my personal opinions but they make sense to me. edit: anybody notice that in the prequels obiwan is referred to as master kenobi or master obi-wan yet in the later ones hes known as "ben" or "old ben". seems like a kindlier fellow just by the name in the sequels... err. the old ones....
