I've Done from 3 PM til 8 AM the next morning before. It was a CS LAN at our school. We all took plenty of breaks by rolling around the upstairs and downstairs on rolly chairs and had pizza and soda and plenty of bathroom breaks. Damn, that was a fun night, but got pretty stinky by about 1 AM with 30 kids crammed into one computer lab for that long. I think that's what broke me of CS though. Ha.

I still havn't played a LAN game yet. I want to but my friends play diffrent games and it's hard to pick a good game that we can all agree on and we also need a big enough place to play. I would love to play MOHAA or JKII.

How did you get to stay at school from 3 P.M. to 8 A.M.?

Did you guy's break into the Computer lab or did you guy's get special permission?

i remember a story about a computer cafe, that the owners put speed in peoples cokes, so they would not get tired and play more. one guy stayed there for 40 hours then OD'd.

i done an 8 in the morning till 8 in the morning before but there was about three hours worth of breaks, and a few trips to the petrol station and the Mac for food and drinks.and i didn't play computer for a week after that. :p

This is actually pretty old news. If this is the same case I'm thinking of, it happened about a month ago, in Taiwan. It was 87 hours straight in an internet cafe. If I remember correctly, he felt sick and went to the bathroom, the he passed out and died.

Yea thats exactly what happened (heard it from my brother maybe 1 month ago).

The kid must of sucked if it took him 87 hours and still didn't beat the game. Now there are going to be warning's on the new's and crap. How dumb do you have to be to play 87 hours straight without eating or drinking. Wouldn't you have to go to the bathroom?

Strangest thing that I have heard.

He played Starcraft MP (so theres really no game to beat wink.gif

The longest I´ve ever played without taking breaks or anything is 12-15 hours.....

I was at a LAN party once for Rainbow Six-related games, and we played for a solid 42 hours straight. it was madness, but all of the group became some the best Rainbow Six players ever to play the game. we could literally predict where people would be. it was awesome back in the day.

the longest I've ever stayed up without even a 15 minute nap was 97 hours... 1 hour shy of 4 days. for drinks, I had mountain dew readily available and just went about my business. It was hard, trust me.

I think the longest I played a game was about 16 hours...which was overnight, of course. Started early evening and just went straight through to late morning the next day. With both Elite Force and Max Payne, I played through both games from start to finish without a break, and each took about 10 hours.

I try not to stay up through the night these days, though. I read somewhere that you're more prone to heart failure around 3-4 am in the morning, when you should really be in deep sleep. You're putting an unnecessary strain on your body doing any activity through the night.

[Michael Caine voice] Not a lot of people know that. [/Michael Caine voice] ;)

I think the longest I ever stayed awake was 3 days...because I was ill at the time and couldn't sleep for love or money. It messed up my body clock quite a bit...I became sort of nocturnal for a week, sleeping during the day. I had to keep checking to see if I had a reflection in mirrors, or if my teeth were getting sharper... ;)

Anyway, as far as I'm concerned, no game on the planet is worth your life. The same goes for posting on forums (says he posting at 5:15 am - idiot!).

Take care out there, people.

I think the longest that I ever was playing was when I got JKII and I got home at 6 P.M. and played till like 12 P.M. with eating of course. It wasn't that big of a deal to me. I just slept like a baby when I went to bed. I can keep playing as long as I go to the bathroom and get food and drink.

Man - games these days are usually short ones aimed at quick gaming or with friends.

But MMPORGs and Final Fantasy/RPG genre in general can claim lives in more ways than this.

I myself have mistakenly played FFVII (Best Game EVER!!! No questions, quotes, disagreement or quarrels - PERIOD! Or I go Yoda on your ass!) for 18 hours! I had loo breaks, and my mother (bless her for realising how close to detah I truely was) brought me provisions.

But scarier still - MMPORGs.

Kids have gotten so into the whole thing that they think people who hunt them on them down in this game are after them in real life. This leads to two outcomes, both with similar results:

  • 1) Kill themselves to escape (and I DONT mean create a new character and play on!)
  • 2) Hunt down and slaughter those who would oppose them (And i mean in real life - .22 not partisan)

THAT is scary!

heh..speaking of mmorpgs, Evercrack was the end of my social life. I remember about 2 years ago, raiding Nagafen, then organizing a pick-up raid for Vox all in the same night. Unfortunately, I went ld w/ Vox and died. Two hours AFTER the 10 hour raiding extrav., and after reinstalling EQ (long, long story), I recovered my corpse (another 2 hours), and logged off. Needless to say, I lost track of all time. I think I played for like 16-18 hours straight....it was a bitch.

Well I just got back from a PC LAN place and it was fun as hell. We played Counter Strike. I know I use to bash the game but it is fun. I was there for 4 hours. I tried to play other games but it wouldn't let me. I just can't wait to go back. I think that I am going to get addicted. :D

But I won't stay there for more than a day. ;)
