Characters you thought worked well/ones you didn't...

The Distorted

Recommended Posts

Hey, just wanna know how other people felt about certain characters in the game and whether or not you believed they "fitted in" the game, or whether you just thought that some of them were strong, complete personalities that were presented well/coherently or not?

I'm not neccesarily asking you whether or not you liked them, but rather if you just think they are good, solid characters or not...

OK, this is what I think:

Kreia - yes (basically), I think she has a strong, complicated personality that is (obviously) integral to the story of the game, and I believe the interactions she has with your NPC are well thought out and also done well. This is due in no small part to the voice acting of the character, which is coherently vivid.

Atton - Another character I believe was executed well on paper and translated successfully to the actual game. Very interesting when first discovering his past, for example. Worked well, simply.

Bao-Dur - I think he seemed alot better a concept on paper than he actually turned out to be. I find him to be a bit bland on the whole (admittedly, there are a couple of exceptions i.e. Assasin fight on Nar Shaddaa). He comes across as holding quite alot of potential and depth but ultimately falls short...he just seems a bit one dimensional: commited horrible massacre in war because of desire for revenge, now regrets it...and that seems about it...

plus, I find some of his voice acting to vary uncharacteristically at some points throughout the game...

Visa - Hmmmmm alot of good about this one, but I think all she reveals about herself is done too early, too quickly, and then no more is learned about her. Maybe a bit more spacing would have helped keep her an interesting character coherently throughout.

Apart from that though, she is a solid character, with a strong personality which is portrayed well in her voice acting.

T3M4 - He's really good actually, and mainly because (as I guess other people like me) after playing the original game first, I wasn't expecting much from him and was a bit dissapointed that he'd be making a comeback instead of another character being in his place (whether a new one or a returning one, whatever). His eccentricities and "quirks" establish him as a well-definable and individual personality. And of course, he is also integral to the game.

HK47 - Much like alot of people who have played the original, I thought he was awesome in that game and truly original. But in having him return in this game, it seems that his presence only diminishes the unique aspect of this in the original, as he could only repeat the same brand of behaviour/humour in this game. Not saying he's bad though, but perhaps he isn't as strong a presence in this game as he was before.

GO-TO - I thought he was just a filler character to begin with, but upon discovering his true nature, he suddenly seemed alot more interesting and thought out. My only complaint here is that no one wants a big obnoxious black metal ball trailing behind you and getting in your way :D . Maybe they should have designed his "physical presence" slightly differently, mainly alot less crudely.

Handmaiden - Another solid character in my opinion, with strong reasoning behind her presence within the game and she just fitted the "theme" of the story well too. A minor complaint is that perhaps a romance between her and the exile could have been a bit more obvious rather than suggestive.

Disciple - A particularly bland character I think, with only a vague background story and reasoning behind him joining you on your journey. He looks as if he has the potential, but never really delivers much.

Hanharr - I think he is a solid personality, with a particularly interesting back story, told well, and has intersting dialogue options as well as views on things around him. Worked - full stop.

Mira - First off, terrible voice acting I'm afraid I have to say. Second off, making her into a jedi just didn't seem right - it didn't suit her personality, especially such a personality in a the Star Wars universe. She looks good, like she has a really unique and extravagant personality, but falls way short and instead just gives you an all too familar back story and attitude. Not particularly motivating to interact with her to be honest.

Mandalore - [spoilers, maybe] I think they have taken a well constructed character from the original game, and kind of half-delivered on his development in the series. His story following the previous game is interesting and fits well on paper, but perhaps it is not told in the best manner possible actually within the game. I'm still a little undecide on him, really - he's in a grey area for me.

*Phew* That was knackering...

O.K. I'll do some of the other characters now:

Darth Sion - I think he is really quite an interesting character, with a good final confrontation between him and the exile (especially if you're female) - good concept about how he is technically dead, but kept alive by the force, and you have to beat him philosophically rather than with sheer brute force, which could have only been done in an RPG game like this of course - and thus, he is technically a perfect character for this game/series. I think however, that his voice acting (with the over the top "English" accent - believe me, none of us sound like that) is slightly over done and not coherent throughout the game. His voice suits him, but I think some of the takes could have been redone. I'm being picky here, but sometimes he'll over-pronounce the consonants in a word/sentence, whereas other times he'll really obviously-consciously avoid pronouncing them at all.

It also helps that he is introduced at the beginning of the game/story, makes appearences throughout the game, and the player anticipates finally facing him one-on-one by the end of it.

Darth Nihilus - I'm sure that Obsidian were originally intending to make alot more of this character, but fell short by the time the game was released. He has a great dark, villainous personality that just shouts out "Evil" and looks great. However, the fight with him was anti-climatic, and apart from the cutscene when Visa enters your group, you get little introduction to him before you actually face him. Personally, I think that he should have fought you without a lightsaber and just relied on force powers (which should've been alot more powerful than they actually were) and he should have had alot more of them as well. His voice is great though - it really gives him an air (is that the right "air"? ) of darkness about him...

Atris - Another character who is relatively underdone probably from origianl plans. I think she is introduced rather strangely as well - with your character speaking with her with alot of history between them from the outstart, but you (personally) playing the game for the first time have only just (even) SEEN her for the first time, which doesn't really work. Plus, the next time you see/interact with her after that initial introduction is also the last time you will do so for the entire game, and alot of assumptions are made of what has "happened"/is "happening" to her throughout the game's story.

*spoilers coming up, kinda*

The fact that she was also originally going to be a possible Darth Traya also explains alot about her role in the game and her character, and thus because it is cut - she is ultimately underused and underplayed.

I think that covers the most significant/main characters of the game, but I could have missed any others that might be relevant in some way or another.

kreia - big yes, she was good and hard to beat at the end

G0-T0 makes a nice DS equivalent of T3, however a lot of his special features have limited usefulness. You hardly see a droid again after he joins your party (0 on Korriban or Dantooine and only a handfull on Dxun/Onderon). I imgine that he would have been highly useful on the Droid Planet, however since it was cut.... I take him with me on the 2nd trip to Onderon and I usually switch him out another party member so that he can join me in the Mandolorian Cache, but other than that, he almost never leaves the ship.

As for the other droids, kudos to the devs for making them more useful. T3 is now one of the best party NPC's in the game and it's hard for me to leave HK on the ship even when I'm playing LS. A large part of this has to do with the changes that they made to ranged weapons.

OE tried to do way too much with Atton. I love his character and especially appreciate the humor he adds to the game. I don't particularly care for the sub-plot they wrote for him. Seems to muddle things too much for my liking.

Bao-Dur is an awesome character. Too bad he sucks when unchained from the workbench. I had to mod the heck out of Remote and completely rewrite the acbonus table just to make it so he and Hanharr could mix it up every once in a while.

Speaking of Hanharr, who thought it would be a good idea to give him the whole armor proficiency tree at start up? Come on! Fortunately that's my only real complaint re: the Wookie.

"The Girls" (Kreia, Handmaiden, Mira, and Visas) are all well done. I noticed that a duragatory comment was made re: Mira's VO's but I honestly thought they were some of the best. Kreia was perfectly done in every manner. An expanded dlg with Visas would have been nice, but not a show stopper by any means.

The devs should have given HM more unarmed combat feats. As it is, she quickly reaches a point where keeping her unarmed is no longer beneficial. I suppose that's just the way things go, but it would have been nice to have a unarmed combatant throughout the game.

And finally we come to Disciple. To be fair, I haven't allowed him a lot of screen time. I've tried, but he's just too damned annoying. Tech Specialist that's classed as a Soldier and multi-classed as a Consular? What?! And don't get me started on his voice.

That's all I have to say about that...

I had no interest in GO-TO at all, and never talked to him. Maybe I missed out on some stuff, but I tried to forget he was even there.

I liked Atton a lot, and even though he filled the Carth role, he was still his opposite in a lot of ways. Carth was all Republic, but Atton was very independant and Han-like to some extent.

I like Bao-Dur quite a bit as well. I was nice to have a least one character who was completely loyal to you. :) Plus I enjoyed him as a mechanic type.

I happened to like T3 in the first game, and found him pretty useful even then. This time around he was even more useful

I thought both the Handmaiden and Mira were good characters, and pretty unique in their own way.

Visas I was a little disappointed with. She didn't come across quite right to me. She is a Sith and severs a Sith Lord intent on destroying you. She says she serves her master, yet she would die for you and eventually loves you. Well which is it? Didn't pay too much attention to her though...

Mandalore = Canderous = Teh Man. He is loyal without being a yes man.

Kreia was a very interesting character and I ended up liking her a lot. It made for a good story, but I was hoping that she would have gone to the good side in the end.

I didn't end up with Disciple, HK-47 (but he of course rules) or the wookie, so no comment. But Disciple seemed like a bit of a dweeb.

In the end, I think I liked most of the characters too much. I didn't want to turn anyone but the Handmaiden into a Jedi because I liked all the archtypes the others represented. And it turned out I was unable to turn the Handmaiden into a Jedi. :( The other thing is that most of the NPC personalities weren't at all what I consider Jedi-like, and so I didn't really want to see them as such. Overly sarcastic and whiny Jedi is something I don't like. :) Too NJO for me...

Same with me, I never used him. I don't think I ever took him with me.

I liked Atton's character pretty well, I thought his dialogue was very well done and I enjoyed trying to gain influence with him.

Bao-Dur was one of my favorites. He was nearly completely loyal to you and I liked having him around to help with tech stuff and to hear him praise me.

I liked to talk to Mira on the Ebon Hawk but I didn't use her very much. I guess I just thought other characters were of more worth. I'm glad I finally figured out how to make her a jedi though. It took me a while to figure out that

you actually had to take her to the place on Nar Shaada where Kreia taught you to listen.

.

I liked the Handmaiden a lot as well. She was one of the ones that I really wanted to make a Jedi but it took me 3 times through the game to finally get her to be one. I kept losing too much influence with her by gaining influence with Visas. So i just stopped talking to Visas.

I thought Visas' character could have been a little better. I thought that it was a little weak. I never used her after the 3rd time through, afraid of gaining too much influence with her.

T3-M4 was a pretty good character. I didn't use him that much on missions but I still liked him.

HK-47 was awesome as always. I loved all the different dialogue options that weren't available in K1. I especially loved when you put the hk pacifist thing in and then let him talk for a little bit and then take it out. Hilarious!

Kreia was a pretty good character, I didn't like how she was so dark though because mostly I played light side so i had to decide between gaining influence with her or gaining light side points, or neither.

Mandalore was by far my favorite character. I just thought that he was such an improvement from what he was in K1 and I loved his appearance also. Mandalore is awesome!

Thumbs up to Kreia, Atton, and Visas for me. All three of them were interesting characters that seemed to renew KOTOR 2's theme of people enduring tragidy and growing stronger by it.

Handmaiden had some interesting philosophy, but otherwise she was a bland character. I think having Atris herself as a counterweight to Kreia might have been a better choice.

Bao-Dur seemed a little too much like a guy working at the postal service. After taking to much abuse he seems like he might just snap. Must be that quiet voice he always uses.

And is it me or did Mira remind anyone else of Starbuck from the new battlestar galactica show?

I was pleasantly suprises by T3 increased role and his backstory. HK seemed a little too rehashed. And Goto would have be cooler if he had a voice and personality slightly different from his master.

Mira, Atton, and T3 are my whole crew. If I could have four in the strike team, that would be it.

Hk-47 was ocasionaly handy when I couldn't bring Atton.

Kiera was too weird. I wished she would stop talking in riddles. (I'd replace her with Jolee Bindo any day.) I only used her in the begining for her force powers untill I was powerful enough to fight on my own.

Bou-dur I never paid much attention to, for I prefered the top three characters.

Handmaiden I never had so no comments there

every one else were filler characters

Hmmm I have time to waste so I'll post :)

Atton: I liked him. A lot! He was my favorite personnally. He's always clumsy, acting stupid but you know that deep inside his shell, he's a nice guy. I really liked his backstory.

Kreia: I want to kill the goddamn b****! Lightside or darkside, everything about her makes me want to grrrrrr!!!

Besides that, she was the most interesting character of the bunch. She's actually the only

Sith to act like Sith, aka lying and deceiving instead of taking your lunch money

T3-M4: Major PWNAGE!!! I call him my favorite rolling weapon of mass destruction. He's perhaps the most versatile NPC. I don't like how they made him a lightside character though. To me, he should follow you all the time, whatever you do.

Bao-Dur: I enjoyed his cryptic voice though I feel that this character is far too underdevelopped. I also feel he deserves a better faith then being a simple technician tied to the work bench. Even as a Guardian, his combat efficiently is not that great.

Handmaiden: She was ok as a character, but she has such a nice body.

*drools*

I liked her interaction with Visas.

Visas Marr: She was a bit boring for me. Her voice was more emotionless then Bao-Dur's. Yup, that's hard to believe but true. Frankly, when she says

she loves you

put a bit of conviction please!

Disciple: I hardly understand why he's so hated. Ok, he's not fun, he seems like he has no emotion or is always high. He reminds me of Jude Law.

Nevertheless, of all the characters, he's the one that begs to become a Jedi, though a soldier turning into a consular...errr

Mira: Nice redhead who can kick ass and shows lots of cleavage. nuff said.

Seriously though, I find it stupid to turn her into a Jedi. For some reason, they have to remove the grenadier stance when you become a Jedi and that particular stance is Mira's greatest quality. Other then that, with her blaster abilities, give her two blasters + rapid shot and she can mow down anything.

Mandalore: He was alright I guess. Not as cool as he used to be though. I still don't understand why that he must start with a rifle. He has so much STR and CON. Where's the logic in using a blaster?

HK-47: KILL! BLOOD! DECAPITION! FUNNY HOMICIDAL MANIAC!

nuff said.

Hanharr: Another homicidal maniac though not funny at all. He's prety meh. Huge pool of VP but other then that, I find the character rather boring. Or that's just because I can't picture a Wookiee like that.

G0-T0: Useless fat tin can. Seriously, the only places where he's useful are Peragus and, oh sweet irony, his own yacht.

Kreia:Well developed. Good character that was on a deeper level, she wasnt exactly a sith neither was she a jedi. She lied and tortured for her own needs. She wasnt all OMGLETSKILL@LLJEDILOLOLOLOLOLOL, she was much more deeper, but still, could have had more potential. 9/10

Handmaiden and Visas: Goddamit. They both had much more potential then that, especially Visas. I talked with her twice and completely had my influence with her at 100%. I would have liked it if there were more stories about her or her parents or something. Handmaiden was also very lacking. Not much background story. At least we knew her name yet not her last name.*Cough cough*

HM:7/10

Visas:3.5/10

Atton:I liked his background. Not much more to say. Though I wish I could slap him a few times. 8.5/10

Mandalore:Is he really Canderous? Why didnt he mention anything about the Ebon Hawk? Or are you trying to say hes filling the spot for Canderous? There werent much influence places for him so never knew much about him. 7/10

HK-47: Seriously dissapointed. Had a huge, huge potential. They better bring back the background story of the HK factory or im going to kill the people in Obsidian Entertainment. He was still,as always, very very funny. 3/10

T3:Much more developed and used.

I still dont goddam know why the ship was floating around in the prolouge, why he voice-printed the computer in the Ebon Hawk, what Bastila's message has to do with anything and many other stuff.

Bao-Dur: He was there to fill the place. I never used him. No story on him, i believe. 4/10

G0-T0: I also never used him. He pissed me off. 5/10

Mira: She was a nice character to have, needed a bit more story though i wish she could have been turned into something like Kreia. Shes a bounty hunter, remember?

7/10

  • 11 months later...

...what are your thoughts on the characters now? I mean, having all this time (practically an exact year, ironically) to play this game several times through, getting to know all the characters, exploring all dialogue options, taking all of them with you in your parties, etc. - have (and if so, how) your opinions on them developed since originally playing this game, or do they now differ entirely?

Personally, I can say some of mine definately have changed. For one (and I had forgotten that I had felt differently originally, before re-reading this thread) I can say that I now actually kind of like the Disciple (Mical), as it seems through several playthroughs he has slowly and gradually grown on me.

In fact, I find myself in contradiction with my previous statement regarding his backstory/justification for joining the Exile in her journey - I think, actually, it is one of the most easily comprehensible reasons for such a thing, in the game.

Yes, he is pretty cliched, but I think that actually adds balance to the story, as he is one of the only truly genuinely morally-conscious personalities present, without ever faultering through his own accord. Even when you corrupt him in the DS of the force, he reminds me of Anakin's initial train of thought in Ep III - he justifies his 'turn' to himself as a necessary requirement, in order to fulfil his desires (in this case: his mission).

GO-TO has now definately established himself (as I was discovering during my previous post) as one of my favourite party members, and I have truly "forgiven" him for the fact that he's a "big obnoxious black metal ball trailing behind you and getting in your way" :D. I think that it's just hilariously awesome that he can trigger such an effective stealth mode despite this fact :giggle1:

Mira - Ah, now...I do have to say, I think I was overly critical in my first opinions of this character (I think I just missed Hanharr, that's all ;) ), but she has indeed grown on me. Some of her voice acting and attitude still does slightly make me roll my eyes every now and then, but I liked her alot more since the time when I first corrupted her in the name of the Darkside of the force! :dev7:

She looks awesomely gothic fully darksided-up, and then having her kill Hanharr totally mercilessly at the end felt fittingly sweet too.

Her ending in this scenario (as described by Kreia) was very cool too. :devsmoke:

Mandalore/Canderous - Before, I said that I was undecided on his development in this game, but now I can safely say that although I still prefer (if I had to choose) his good ol' original Candy rendition from the previous game, I think his turn as the leader of the Mandalorians is contextually appropriate - in so much as - that his attitude is befitting of the new role he has chosen to undertake in his life.

As for the other characters, my sentiments remain pretty much the same, i.e. Bao-Dur still bores me for the most part, etc.

There will be no reveiw for Hanharr, because well, I've never played a DS game. And probably never will. DS just has absolutely no appeal to me. I also play mostly as a female Exile so with the exception of Handmaiden most of these comment will be geared with my female Exile, Isan, in mind. That said here's what I think:

Atton: Atton was good. I liked Atton, he was great guy to go out and have a juma with and I liked the fact that he was guy that was just thrown into things. However, as much as I can see Atton being friends with my Exile I cannot, cannot see it going any farther than that.

Kreia: Holy freaking snot! What a great character! As opposed to alot of what I read on the boards (not so much here but over on Obsidian) I liked talking to Kreia and she had a lot to say about things I wanted to know about like Sion, Nihilus, Atris and Revan. Although she did spend most her time on the ship (I found that this is the only way I can keep my full influence with her). I also found the way she treats female Exile and male Exile interesting. Maybe it's just my perception, but she seems to like and respect F!Exile more.

Bao-Dur: Very Good. Favorite in fact. I find it hard to agree with people that there isn't alot to his character. There is alot, you just have to take him with you to see it, because that's the only way to gain influence with him. I like that he felt guilty about destroying the Mandalorians in the way that he did, yet still hated them. I liked Remote. I also liked his dry sense of humor (the "claws out today" and "I'll take the stupid one" lines had me falling out of my chair laughing). And I think he is the best fighter you have after Jedifying him (with the exception of Di). If there was a Bao romance I would so be there. Even without it though in my mind he is the person my Exile ends up with. He is also the only person on the whole freaking ship that has even the remotest idea of what happened to the Exile at Malachor (with the exception of maybe Visas) which makes them much closer, IMHO.

Disciple (Mical): I find it hard to peruse the boards because of all the Di hating I find. I like Disciple. I think he'll make a wonderful Jedi. I liked the past connection he had to the Exile. I felt bad that my Exile had left him and so he couldn't become a Jedi. :( I never, not once, got a "stalker" vibe from him. **shrug** All in all a good character, IMNSHO. Not to mention he totally kicks Sith (and every other kind of) butt.

Mira: I like Mira I could so see her and my Exile becoming friends. She had some of the best freaking voice acting in the game. The scene where you turn her into a Jedi, literally, had me in tears. I think Mira as a Jedi will bring some "reality" to the Jedi Order that is seriously lacking and give her a place something I think she always wanted.

Mandalore: I never got much out of Mandalore being the hopeless lightsider I am, but still I liked Canderous from the first game and so it carries over. I'm probably one of the few who think that his being Mandalore is not that far of a stretch. He did say he needed a purpose and what better than to help his people become one again?

T3-M4: Loved the little bugger. In K1 I never paid much attention to T3, but in K2 they finally gave him a personality. It was understandable that he wouldn't have much personality in the first game though seeing that he was brand new and droids only gain personality quirk over time and lack of memory wipes.

HK-47: Like Mandalore, I didn't get much out of HK, but still who doesn't love a homicical droid? And the HK pacifist package had me once again falling out of my chair. Also some of HK's comments about the HK-50's made me laugh ("corroding my good name"). ;)

Go-To: I like Go-To as a character but as a party member I think he's useless. Everything he can do T3 can do better.

Visas: I really liked Visas. My first play through she and Bao-Dur made up my party most of the time. Her relationship with Nihilus still has me raising my eyebrows as to the extent of it. One of the conversations with Visas makes me think that she would be the perfect match for my M!Exile, Zane:

Visas: To see everything around you extinguished... it... was as if I was blinded. It was as if the Force had... been bled from the world.

Exile: ...as if everything suddenly went silent.

Visas: I imagine there are worse deaths, worse pain. But if there are, I do not know them. Like Bao-Dur she knows exactly what it was like to feel so much death on such a scale and live through it. Besides she's a Miraluka, how cool is that? :p

Handmaiden (Brianna): I certainly hope you guys will forgive me for this, but... Handmaiden annoys me and came off as far to self centered and childish for my taste. I mean I talk to Visas once once and she won't talk to me anymore? :eyeraise: How silly is that? That's not to say that I hate her, I'm just indifferent to her. One thing that I did like about having Brianna in my party was that you learned more about Atris

Well, that's everybody right? On the whole I liked all the characters from K2 with the exception of Go-To. :thmbup1:

Atton: Great character. Liked his wise crack comments alot.

Kreia: Confusing to figure out but ok at the same time.

Bao-Dur: Great but boring at the same time. He didn't talk much during the game except for the cutscenes.

Mira: Interesting. Never would have thought that she was a Mandalorian.

Mandalore: Do I even have to say anything?

T3M4: Excellent companion. In K1 he was just a piece of luggage to be carried on the ship, but in TSL, he was my portable battle tank.

Hk47 - This character coupled with Mandalore and my PC made the perfect assassination / destruction / demolition team ever.

G0T0 - Useless character.

Visas - Loved her part in the storyline and therefore used her frequently in my party. This led to bad relations with Handmaiden though :( .

Handmaiden - She was great until I sided with Visas one too many times. After that she refused to talk to me any more and now she remains to be a useless character (so far).

Hanharr - Great Dark Sider. I used him in my party until I built HK. After which I decided to replace him with a more lively and homicidal object. Still, I preferred Zaalbar to this depressed being.

Kreia: Wierd Character. I can never make her happy, LS or DS. Personally I think she wants to do everything her own way (Whatever that is). She is an intresting Character.

Atton Rand: I liked Atton. He was my favourite Party Member in TSL. He was funny, good at fighting and whenever he died, he'd always come back again.

T3-M4: In KOTOR, I used him to open one door and that was it. In TSL, to me he felt much more used and he saves your Character at least twice. Atton treats him like scrap, but really T3 has saved the crew.

Bao-Dur: The first few times I had him, I never used him, because his combat was terrible, although I thank him for building my Lightsaber. I'm using him much more now, because I found out he can become a Jedi.

Handmaiden: Best Female Character in the game. She can become a great Jedi, if you save all her levels up. The only thing I hate about her is if you talk to Visas and she never speaks to you again. Armed with a Double-Bladed Sliver Lightsaber, she helped me.

Disciple: Personally I prefer Handmaiden, but Disciple is alright. When I had a Female Exile, he became a really good Jedi. Armed with a Double-Bladed Green Lightsaber, he helped me. If I could, I would have both Handmaiden and Disciple.

Mandalore: To be honest, I hardly used him, other than Onderon and the Ravanger. If he had torn Armour instead of a full Armour, it would have been better.

HK-47: I've never really used him. In TSL, if he wasn't broken, I may have used him more, because I always do Nar Shaddaa last.

Mira: Another of my favourite Female Characters. She was Carth weapon wise. I never knew she could become a Jedi. But in my game, I shall save her levels and train her as a Jedi. If you don't bother making her a Jedi, she can become great with Dual Pistols.

Hanharr: What has everyone got against him? He's great Combat wise. With his Rage on, he can kill loads of enemies. If I could, I would have both Mira and Hanharr. Too bad you can't make him a Sith.

G0-T0: I've only used him once and he can kill an enemy in two hits. But I don't like him. Personally I don't want a floating Droid floating behind me in KOTOR III (If it comes out).

Re: Darth Sion

Actually, if I recall correctly, his voice actor is, in fact, Scottish, not English.

Oh, that's interesting. I always assumed that he was actually an American actor pulling off an English accent, myself - I never thought that he was actually English (hence the speech marks in my second post). That's actually why I thought it was overdone - too self-conscious, but of course, what do I know of this actor?

As a side note, was anyone else reminded of Sean Bean in this guy's voice? but like a deeper, more accentuated variation to it?

Sion is definitely my favourite nemesis to date.

He is very well defined even for a bady, you could a very powerful sense of who he is or was even though you really don't know much about his past. I messed my pants everytime I had to face him and I found his dialogue some of the most interesting especially at the final confrontation.

I thought Nihilus was just thrown in. He felt very non-essential to me other then to have a big fight and further Visas's story but as a opponent I didn't really care either way.

Sean Bean is from Sheffield, and no I didn't really but as a fangirl I wouldn't mind if he voiced a baddy next time ;)

I found something valuable in all my party members except GoTo/HK 47. I thought there were just a few droids too many.

I like HK cause he always has great lines but when it comes to fighting I prefer to have Atton and Mical all Jedi'd up at my side, or Visas.

It would be niced if you could have the other characters with a female PC to see how they would interact.

Kreia--I loved the complexity and all the stories. The XP bonus was kind of nice, too. Later in the game she stayed on the ship a lot, but I still went to talk to her to see what she story she had for me 'this time.' I wish the devs had been able to develop the other party members as much as her.

Atton--one of my favorites. Smart-aleck with a heart, and he had some amusing lines. I was sorry when his story was pretty much over after you made him a Jedi (or just get past a certain level). I kept him in the party a lot just to see what he'd say next. I was hoping for something more to develop between him and Exile, not because I wanted something all mushy, but just because I thought his approach to a deeper relationship would have been filled with some witty conversation.

Bao-Dur--I found him interesting, even if others didn't. I liked the emotional battle he went through with his guilt over exercising his revenge in such a completely destructive way, and once he was a Jedi, he was a much better fighter. I loved how useful he was at the workbench, and I used him a lot for that reason.

HK-47--Funny lines again, but I thought having 3 Jedi in a party always trumped 2 Jedi + 1 HK, so I didn't get to use him as often as I would like, though I'll probaby try that out next time I play. I loved the pacifist package, too. :D

T3--I still didn't use him a lot, though I thought it was fun to play him those 2 times. The stories he told on the ship once I actually took the time to talk to him and do all the repairs were very intriguing.

Visas--Interesting character--would have been even better if her story had been longer. Once you get to the Force sight thing, you're pretty much done. Since I played Female Exile, I wanted to bring the boys along in the party more often than the girls, so I probably don't appreciate her quite as much as the guys on the forum. Loved her voice.

Disciple--he didn't irritate me like he does others. He did kind of remind me of a loyal, loving puppy-dog following you around, but I thought he was decent in a battle, particularly if you held back his levels til after converting him to a Jedi (which does not take very long at all) or if you change his class in KSE to a Guardian. I did think it was weird to have the game class him as soldier/consular--I think they ought to have gone scout/consular or soldier/guardian, with scout/consular probably fitting his character better.

Mira--I liked her backstory, and the conversation she has asking about Female Exile's relationship with Atton was hilarious. Her ability to walk through minefields was very useful at times, but otherwise I didn't think her fighting skills were as useful as some of the other PCs, especially if you hit Nar Shadaa first when she was low level.

Hanharr--never felt like playing DS (yet), so I haven't played him. The idea of an evil Wookiee just bugs me a little too much right now, though I can appreciate the overall concept

Handmaiden--since fighting half-naked Echani women isn't a turn-on for me :p I wasn't as excited having her around as some of the rest of you, but she's a decent fighter to have in the party (with the Handmaiden for female mod installed) and some of the added info on Atris was interesting.

GO-TO--meh. He reminded me too much of the torture droid in Star Wars so I was turned off by appearance to begin with. Stealth skill was decent but Mira was a better fighter. Hk's comment of 'what is it you want, fat one,' was hilarious. I didn't get as much out of his story as I did out of the other characters.

Mandalore--enjoyed him to an extent, but I would have liked to see his face. :). Since I played LS, I couldn't get as much of the story as I would have liked (well, at least til I cheated ;) ).

The Baddies:

Nihilis--great build up, died way too easy.

Sion--so deliciously evil. I had quite a visceral response every time I heard his voice. The nasty eye thing really got me.

Traya--Decently tough to kill for me, though the 'casually stand for 10 minutes and monologue after being mortally wounded' thing disturbed my suspension of disbelief.

Ok, I will post mine. Since the characters are designed to be in pairs of negatives(in a way) in kotor2, I will try to describe them in pairs.

Kreia) She is nicely done, and fits well for what she is, a manupilative(sp!) witch. Not the most attractive personality I would say, but thats what she is SUPPOSED TO BE.

*HK47 + T3M4* Ok, the duo is back, and basically unchanged.

T3M4) He definitely does a bit more in kotor2. Well, basically we can be sure that he is the "good guy" in the duo, with a helpful personality, and even a bit loyal to friends. Also the "shock HK47 now" seen tells us there is a bit of R2 in him, somehow. I wish his development would continue in kotor3.

HK47) Well, due to the content cut and whatever, he is not as nicely done in kotor2. But yes he is still funny, still evil, and still so lovable. Definitely more about him in kotor3.

*Mira + Hanharr* Well, funny enough, these two characters are nicely done, when view2ed as a pair. I mean, these two can be a story on their own, a sort of twisted relationship, with a bit of romance entwined. Yes, itw a weird though, but it can work.

Mira) Pretty nicely done. She makes a good friend as Femme Exile and a sort-of girl drinking buddy for male Exile. Unfortunately her programming is a bit flawed in some situations. One being still talking like a LS character(what she is designed to be) even when she has turned pretty DS, and the denial of being a Jedi as mentioned before by others. Also a bit more play-flirting with her as Male Exile will be nice, with both knowing this won't work. Funny, I always expact Mira talkign to femme Exile about her having some feelings towards Hanharr, but thats just me.

Hanharr) Well, a evil dark wookiee for the change. I actually like this guy. You don't always have an abusive and violent slave time following you in games. I would like him to speak more though. And, it would help if they do some more LS side work for his dialogues.

*Remote + G0t0* Not much about remote so its G0T0 really. Its war of the balls here.

Remote) well, he is basically the extension of Bao who is designed to die doing a single mission. And seriously not much personality about it. Then again, he is just a bonus toy added to Bao.

G0T0) Ok, the whole "stability via status quo" idea behind G0T0 may be nice, but seriously its badly executed. sub-par model as a playable npc and generally not funny dialogues. Well, the ending at least gives an almost HAL like feeling. Then again, things can work just as well if he shows up as an npc the last minute. He is not missed even if his part is cut, and him return to being just a nonplayable npc.

*Bao-Dur + Mandalore* Well, the one who finds peace after war, and the one for never ending conquest. Then again, both have there on going enemies to battle with, in different ways.

Bao) Well, too typical, the whole some nice uy who did something horrable in the past issue. Voice acting is a bit disappointing. I actually wish you can try to romance him as femme Exile, he is a better "nice guy" target than Mical (then again, even a castrated ewok is better than Mical). Not a bad character, as he does his part really well. I see him as the only "real good guy" in the party.

Mandalore) Mr. Ordos made it back!!!! Well I am happy so see him getting the helmet finally. Oh, and his war stories are always nice. But good things ends here. He gets almost no new development whatsoever while with the party. So generally its a "its better if him stay nonplayable npc" situation. Well, maybe just for the Dxun missions, really.

*Atton + Disciple* Obviously a pair, especially if you have played femme Exile before. and obviously Atton ftw.

Atton) Ok, he is a dropout from JA series. Well, he is quite nicely done as a character. His darker background is also nice. Its annoying that hs reacts to LS like influence even when he turned DS though. Makes a good drinking buddy for the Male Exile. For femme Exile, he unfortunately acts more like a childish Han wannabe at times. Then again, if you have to choose someone, it has to be him, the alternative is just.... *wimp* I always think the devs make it so that Atton would be the default choice for Exile though.

Mical) I really don't like his wannabe do-gooder design. Basically he is wimpy most of the time, a borderline stalker, trying to look like a lapdog, while sniffing on femme Exile's undies stolen from her closet. He is like a emo " oh noz I am too old to be a jedi" who cuts himsel with a plastic knife from McD or something. Ok, enough with the whine. This character does not work.

*Visas + Brianna* An obvious Contrast. The really straight forward physical kind of girl, vs the quiet almost-gothic type.

Brianna) She looks cool. And yes she sparrs nikkid. And yes, she does have a nice background story going. I find her a bit too shallow, but its for a reason. Basically she is direct and physical in contrast to Visas. She is almost forcing herself on you :3 and she is not afraid to tell you about her dislike on Visas. I find it a bit annoying that you can't even kiss her when you romance her though. I mean, with her personality, a hug and kiss during sparr time won't be too much, if not more. Oh well. Oh yeah, it would be fun if she can show up with femme Exile.

Visas) Ok, an almost gothic type fasade. Quiet, submissive personality, and quiet. I love her character design, her background and her personality. If anything, all her dialogues are cramped up in a chunk leaving little to do afterwards. I really hope if they can give her more dialogues, or split up the dialogue chunk in small sections. It is interesting to know that while she is not the physical type(thats Brianna) she is willing to trust and give in to Male Exile more so than anyone. That, and the whole "look upon each other in force" thing is supposed to be more intimate than sex(or so it is supposed to be for Visas) Also the whole "hole in the force yada yada" things makes her the perfect match for Male Exile, which is probably the Dev's default romance option(third option probably be Atris?? then again she can well be male Exile's ex).

I generally felt that the female characters seemed to be much more developed than their male counterparts.

Visas-might actually be my favorite character when playing a femme Exile. I hook her up with a double bladed saber and she proceeds to kick ass. Her back story I thought was well done though I think they revealed too much about her too quickly.

Kreia-I like the cryptic shadiness of Kreia. You get the feeling right from the beginning that she's hiding something. Her voice acting is well done even though she's not much as a party member for combat.

Mira-Mira is one of my favorite characters. She's got the right type of attitude, and is pretty good in combat. The thing with her and Hanharr is an interesting addition to the story though I've never played DS as yet.

Handmaiden(Brianna)-My favorite character when playing a male Exile. Aside from the sparring naked thing :) She is definitely awesome when it comes to a fight. Despite influence issues I like to pair her with Visas in my party because both of these chicks kick ass pretty well.

Atton-Atton strikes me as some have others have said as a Han wannabe. I don't typically use him a whole lot regardless of whether I'm playing male or female Exile. I do like his backstory though, and thought it was very well done.

Disciple(Mical)-Too much of a pretty boy for me. Didn't find him very useful as a party member, and didn't like the fact that it was so easy to turn him into a Jedi. I would have rather had the option to recruit Atris into the party.

Bao-Dur-There's something about Bao Dur that I like. I would have liked to see a little more back story on him other than that he served with the Exile in the war. He seems to have a lot of anger pent up in there. I thought he was kinda underpowered too, and that he died too quickly.

Mandalore-Nice to see Canderous back. Like Bao Dur I would like to have seen them talk about him a little more. It is mentioned that Revan left him broken on the edge of the universe I would have liked to see that go into a bit more..Not sure how though. As a party member I didn't have much use for him really.

HK-47-I would have loved to have played the droid planet. I don't use HK-47 much, but he's still funny as hell to listen to. Especially if you put in the pacifism module and take it out again :)

T3-M4-I can't help but love this little guy. I like to use him as one of the two characters sent to rescue the Exile on GOTO's yacht. Equip him with some upgraded blasters, the ion shot, and a molten cannon and let him go to town :)

GO-TO-Useless...I wish they would have come up with someone else to put in this party member slot..Atris perhaps or something.

Hanharr-haven't played DS so I haven't used him yet. Though the idea of a crazy wookie is interesting.

So, there ya have it...the breakdown IMHO.
