Holy crap... there's so many of them... and I haven't even heard of them until now. One day I'll have to find the time to watch at least some of them.

(This probably answers your question, too.)

Pretty cool to be able to meet someone in the acting business. :)

Watched through Kaiji in like two days, good show. Pretty unique animation style on the show, if you have seen Akagi you will know what i mean. The show is about a "loser" that get offered to gamble his way out a debt he got to the mob. And you get to follow him when he tries to outsmart his opponents in diffrent games. I really liked the narrative style the show have, and if you earlier have seen Akagi and liked it you will definitely like Kaiji, and of course the other way around too.

And i have had the OP song on my brain since i first heard it

I also have rewatced Berserk recently, and this time around i got my ass out of the wagon(Swedish expression^^) and started reading the manga. The opening of the manga, and the story that take place there untill you get where the anime start of is way better IMO

Theres a new anime coming out called Shikibane-hime (translates to something like Undead Princess). Kinda has a resident evil (movie) feel to it. Not sure when it airs, I just saw the trailer the other night.

It is pretty cool, but at the same time, kind of shocking...she's like an OC neat freak...and has a hard time wrapping her brain around the concept that not everyone has the same opportunity as she does. Not a bad soul, just a little psychotic is all.

FullMetal Alchemist: Brotherhood airs in Japan today! Looking forward to catching it on Funimation.com. :)

The mechanic blonde hawtie on FMA and Zero Suit Samus Aran have identical hairstyles and seemingly interests...could it be???

Well this is my first time posting to this thread.

I really don't care for anime because there are so many shows that are just repulsive, but I think I've come to really appreciate a certain few over the years.

One which I've just gotten into was Witchblade, which lasted for one season of 24 episodes. The visual effects were not the greatest and some of the characters were ridiculous, but I've become very attached to the story as it progressed. Unlike Cowboy Bebop, one character really developed throughout the series while the main character and her daughter had an interesting relationship.

The main character, Mesane, was a bit too childish for me, but she had a strength about her that became much more apparent as the series came to its end. She loved her daughter and it was their interaction that the very joyless individual, Takayama, became more concerned with personal integrity than in his company prospering. He was a very complex character to me and his growth throughout the series was very well done in my opinion. The daughter, Riohco, was only six years old and acted exactly like a Jedi. She was unbelievable as a character, but I had to give much credit to the voice actress because her lines were VERY well spoken. She would have been better being ten or older, but age had little to do with it.

Witchblade is not so great on an episode-by-episode basis, but if you see the entire series, many say that the series became more enjoyable as they went through to the ending. It had a sad ending, but it came to that end very well and it moved me... (alright, there were moments when I actually cried... I'll admit it was that great)

I think many folk who say that about anime, get the rough end of the stick from shoddy places like Adult Swim. Theres also anime out there that is only anime because it came from Japan. If that makes any sense.

Of course Darth, without knowing what genre you like, I cant make any reccomendations on what I liked in those same types. :)

Whoa, didn't expect this thread to get buried under all the others in such a short span of time.

I guess that I've seen some of the 'high end' Anime that my sister had bought. I liked CB, but the only other one I could simply stand was Trigun. She also had a lot of fantasy series which never aired in the US, I believe and not dubbed in English.

Witchblade took place in Japan, but I think the characters were close enough to American to be believable. I can't see Cowboy Bebop being voiced in Japanese, but a series in which takes place in a foreign state shouldn't be re-dubbed in English. That simply detracts from the anime because the dubbed versions often have terrible voice actors.

I have really come to like dramas where the characters take first stage; not the fantasy or sci-fci aspects. Modern or not-to-distant future plots are also what I prefer over other-world or super-exotic locations. I know that Witchblade and Cowboy Bebop have little in common, but I really like clever humor, character development, and I don't have issue with Japanese voice acting if it fits the setting. Any reccomendations would be appreciated

If you don't like Japanese themed Anime, then I'd recommend anime that doesn't take place there. I know that sounds pathetically simple, but it often makes english dubs and such more believable.

Cowboy Bebop and Trigun are the classics, but I recommend the new Hellsing Ultimate OVA series, Gundam 00, Maybe other gundams (but they are a much older taste of anime being many of them are about 30 years old), Gunbuster, Diebuster, FLCL, etc.

Mainstream anime that hits Adult Swim isn't always the greatest, but they are specifically chosen for their appeal to American audiences. I'd find a list of everything Adult Swim has played and just pick and choose between them.

The first episode of the new Valkyria Chronicles anime aired in Japan on April 4th. I doubt many of you here are very familiar with Valkyria Chronicles since most of you don't have PS3's, but it is arguably one of the best exclusive games for the PS3 right now, and Lynk will back me up on that. Anyway, they made an anime adaption of the game and having seen the first episode, I'd say it's definitely at least worth checking out if you're a fan of the game.

If you've played the game, then the art direction will seem a bit off for you, and so far they take a few liberties with the story, but for the most part it still holds some of the game's charm so far. While the anime will probably focus on the main story and characters of the game, it looks like it will really flesh out some of the support characters that you never really got to know in the game. I'm not 100% positive but I think certain voice actors from the game, are reprising their role on the anime as well so that's cool. (fyi - the NA and EU versions of the game also had the Japanese audio)

So yeah, if you're looking for something new, check it out, and if you have a PS3 and you don't have Valkyria Chronicles I will gut you in your sleep, and I think GameStop is having a sale on VC for $30 right now, so get it. Also if you want to know more about the game, check out a review written by Lynk Former. :xp:

Edit: I just watched the trailer below, and kind of dumb on their part, but there is sort of a plot spoiler in there, so you probably wont wanna watch past the 2:00 mark of that trailer if you haven't played the game.

Did anyone ever end up following Viper's Creed? I heard it was by the guys who made Appleseed and thought it must be good by default or something? >.>

Jigoku Shoujo Mitsuganae's closing up and it's been a disappointing season. The plots were far-fetched, characters too wacky and the whole Jigoku Tsuushin company feels a whole lot less mystical than it once used to. Sad, but I still look forward to a Season Four. :D
