Ztalker
"Today, LucasArts announced it is working on a new game called 'Fracture.' The game plays in the future, the year of 2161. The whole world is wrought with conflict, and America is plunged into a civil war with 2 camps fighting eachother: the Atlantic Alliance(AA) and the Pacifican Army(PA). You take on the role of Mason Briggs, demolition expert of the AA. Mason is a uber-soldier, with all kinds of cybernetic enhancements. His enemies of the PA are quit the opposite: They are mainly focussed on gene-therapy to create über-soldiers. Nothing new, but what makes the game stand out is it's usage of a technique called Terrain Deformation. It's difficult to explain, but it kind of makes everything in the game destroyable." Right. No Kotor 3. Game seems quit cool though...maybe some Mercenaries goes Black? Edit: Check the video...it explains the whole 'terrain Deformation technique...*drool*
Sabretooth
Damn, you beat me to it. This is looking awesome, even though it is only for the PS3 and X360. I like the idea of Destructible Environments (which is currently LucasArt's most favourite and guarded concept to date), which were possible earlier only the Worms series. Those screens are looking slick and two brand new games with destructible environs could possibly herald the arrival of a dozen more - perhaps the ever destructive Rockstar might be interested in it... Edit: An article from Joystiq about the same, more or less
milo
Ztalker don't scare me like that. I thought Lucasarts had announced they were never making KotOR 3. ;_;
Char Ell
Fracture apparently isn't for PC so I won't be playing it. Good luck to LucasArts and Day 1 on the rest of this game's development. Let me know when LA gets around to releasing another game for PC.

Jeff
I had heard a rumor about this a while ago. Cool to see that it has been confirmed.
Jason Skywalker
You raised my hopes and then crushed them with might! Well done sir Ztalker! Anyways, seems cool.
lukeiamyourdad
East Side rulez! Anyway, doesn't look bad at all. Hopefully, they'll eventually release it for PC (why do people hate the PC so much? I just got a new computer for 800$ CAN, barely more then a PS3, and it can play pretty much everything on high settings).

SithRevan
Fracture, in my opinion looks kinda like Halo, which I LOVE, so I think I am definitely going to give it a go when it comes out. Also, those grenades in the game... pure coolness.
SilentScope001
As a person who is interested in a plausible Second Civil War game where other nations intervene, I could rent this game. But, I have to ask this: Where are the anti-Technology fundmentalists?
montnoir
A game based on one single "gimmick"? ok... The main character design looks like something out of the "we were out of ideas, so we used one that we've used 100 times before" branch. Yawn... I'm going to watch grass grow now. LucasArts were top of the line. What happened to them?

LucasArts were top of the line. What happened to them? WOW! I was about to post the exact same post with different words though. The game looks like a standard 1998 shooter with gimmicky grenades and boulders added. This will definately not be a reason for me to buy a PS3... SilentScope001
A game based on one single "gimmick"? ok... Knights of the Old Republic Gimmick: Play as a Knight in the Old Republic. Mercanaries Gimmick: Play as a Merc. Crazy Taxi Gimmick: Play as a crazy taxi driver. Super Mario 64 Gimmick: Play as Mario. Pong Gimmick: Play Ping-Pong with the Enemy. All of these games look to have only one gimmick, and they seem to be succesful in the long term by getting people to buy them. I wouldn't be suprised if all games have this single gimmick apporach. I'm interested not because of utter-destruction, but because I want to see how they take the US Civil War and the two Factions into a new and original direction. I have little hope for the story though...

Char Ell
You may be waiting a long time... Why do you have to go and make me cry like that? The question is: What do they have against PC? It takes more work/money to develop for? Seriously, with console development one doesn't have to worry about hardware compatibility/support issues, making the game work on different operating systems, etc. like one would need to with PC. Plus consoles have the edge right now in terms of h/w performance and number of units in the field. IMO it will take another year or so for PC's to catch up. Davinq
My two cents regarding this announcement: - Why is it that this 'terrain deformation' only seems possible via grenade? Do you have a vast multitude, or are they a special feature you have to work for the eye candy? - No initial PC release? D: Shame on LA. - The 'character' we play as does not seem to be anything special, as has already been addressed. - The only thing that interests me is the idea of a coast-vs-coast civil war. What could they have done to go to war w/ each other? Problem is that since the character is from the Atlantic, I'd have to fight against my home, teh Pacificness. :/ Regardless, I might end up buying this game if I'm bored enough. But in the end, Mass Effect still looks the best.
Inyri
I like the idea of Destructible Environments (which is currently LucasArt's most favourite and guarded concept to date), which were possible earlier only the Worms series.*cough*redfaction*cough* Game actually is quite reminiscent of Red Faction, graphically... and every other shooter out there. Seems recycled to me, tbh.
montnoir
All of these games look to have only one gimmick... You're confusing "gimmick" with "genre" and "gameplay" and "style".
Astrotoy7
Haven't these idiots heard of PC CDs? *grumble* *grumble* Dont worry, I cant see LucasArts/DX10/BluRay being estranged Hardware wise - the capacity for totally immersive, visually stunning UHD gameplay is just about to be realised... Consoles will look like pixelated Monkey S**t in comparison. Lets just hope these devs can step up to the plate and utilise this hardware to its full extent mtfbwya
Windu Chi
You may be waiting a long time... Yeah forever ! I think they are assuming PC is a dying gaming market; PS3 22 GHz processor and X-box 360 10 GHz processor, how much any of those processors speeds with the high end graphics cards, memory cards and etc... will cost on a PC?
Ztalker
Ehm...10 Gigaherz? Not really... The processors are linked together, but they don't add up. It's like a dual core system. It's faster, but the two processors don't add up like with math. It's more like a symbiosis; they help eachother out. (at least, that's what i've been told) So...saying that PC is behind, isn't tru, imo
Cygnus Q'ol
Of course K3 was put on hold. LA had to rush this game out to try their luck at chasing down games like Gears, Halo and MassEffect. Keep up with the Jonses if you will. IMO this could be a good thing for KotOR fans. 1. It hasn't been officially announced that there will never be a KotOR. 2. As recycled as it probably is, it'll probably be sweet enough to make some dough for them to be able to commit to a massively requested game such as KotOR in the future. 3. Successful experimentation with this terrain deformation could prove very useful in a KotOR game. I'm imagining the possibilities.
