You Know What Grinds My Gears..?

Hard drive companies that measure gigs in such a way that they are essentially lying about the size. So when you get one that says its 320gigs, youre actually getting 298.

Same goes for these monitor companies that measure the screen size diagonally instead of in a way that other people would (width x hieght)!

Reminds me of those seedy car salesmen that silly-putty their cars up so that if they get bumped the engine falls to the ground in millions of little pieces. >_<

Thats what grinds my gears. :p

The consumer size of a hard drive is a gigabyte as 1000 megabytes and the technical size is 1024 megabytes, thats why its smaller than advertised.

And all monitors are measured diagonally for size. :/

What grinds my gears--people on welfare coming into my office driving new cars, wearing enough 14 karat gold jewelry to start their own jewelry business, carrying $300 Gucci handbags, and talking on their new cell phones about getting their nails manicured for their next night out at the fancy and expensive dance club.

I know, it just seems crooked. Itd be like going to an inn and paying for the royal suite and then getting there and find out the only thing that makes it royal is the bed that takes up 90% of the tiny room. ;P

Jae, or the foriegners that come over here and get all these perks from the government, new car, house, and all that and I get squat... I dont really like paying for all those perks they get... >_> (and yes, its our money they are giving; theres only one branch of government that makes money: the mint). ;)

No, you see, you iPod and jumpdrives do have 2GB or whatever. It's all the accessories on the iPod (Like the clock, the calander, alarm, ect) that take up some of the GB. So that's why its alittle lower. Same idea for jumpdrives.

If your so worried about alittle space, then get iPod Linux. It reformats your iPod and makes it run faster, load videos (if its not a Video) and play other games (Doom, Half Life, ect) It also removes those unneeded accessories and gives you more space. You could make your 2GB Nano into a 3 - 4GB Nano/Video.

You could reformat your jumpdrives too. I do it all the time. Just look for online hardware wherever you find it. Just google it really.

Defeatism grinds my gears. I get alot of it at work. People that have been stuck in that same crappy retail job for 13 years telling me that this is life and that life is never easy. Being stuck in a terrible job all the while saying that your just doing it for the money. I disagree. Life is what you make of it. If i live in a small house and have practically no income, does that mean i will be there for the next 40 years.. no. Im different. Different from all those people who gave up long ago on wanting to reach higher. If i want to act, to sing and write i will do it. Do anything to break up the day, the week, hell even the life. Because we only live once. And if you are not happy, for one second in life with the way things are going. Change it. For the better. Because only you and you alone can change your life and nothing is impossible.

That is all.

Another thing that grinds my gears is people that respond to complaints with "life isnt fair". Yeah? Well you can do your part to make it fair instead of being a dead fish and going with the current. >_>

You and me both, brother... uhh, *sister*...

Anyway, I once had this friend who was going to kill himself because he said "life isn't fair". It took hours to convince him not to proceed with what he was about to do. Thats something I hate about most people, is that they think so selfishly.

Mind explaining yourself a little better instead of saying "wrong"? Companies that make them do go diagonally when measuring. 'Cause my monitor going by the width is only 18" whereas, the diagonal is 22".

And all monitors and TVs are measured diagonally for size. :/

Quoted, improved and answered. :)

I hate that too... if justified. On a country unbalanced like mine, part of the population lives on a paradise, first world. They got tons of opportunities, and all the comforts like a Nordic country. Other people are forgotten on a "limbo", that looks more like a African country, overrun by religious wars, race-based conflicts, poverty and famine.

The people from the second group got all the right to complain, after all, society just denied them success on life. But the idiots from the first group had their opportunities (and opportunities that should be owned by those on the second group) and wasted them. That grinds any gear.

Umm... ok? That doesnt make my comment wrong just because I didnt mention tvs... I know tvs are measured the same way...

Of course the TVs matter don't make it wrong. Actually, I was asking if the companies are wrong on measuring the screen diagonally. To justify it, I mentioned the TVs.

What grinds my gears is when someone tells me something I already know, and insist that I never about it before. Like when an ******* tried to teach me torrenting, which he learnt the night before. I ask him what a 'seed' and what a 'peer' is. He goes like "Uh... I dunno."

I hate people like that.

What grinds my gears is when you mention some obscure fact or person in a post and someone then posts a 1000 word biography on the subject as if to say "I knew about it first", or "Didn't anybody tell you, I'm the only one who speaks of blah blah", rendering your post worthless or less knowledgeable

Drivers that ride your ass because even tho I'm going 5 mph over the limit I'm still not going fast enough for them. I mean come on go the hell around me for pete's sake! and another thing; apparently nearly everyone has forgotten the 2 second rule I know because every time I get the proper distance some jacka** come and slides in that space. In short Bad Drivers!!

The total lack of customer service in retail. I cant remember the last time I went shopping and could get any help beyond the standard look in isle x or towards the back of the store. And heaven forbid you ask a specific question about a specific product.

That's just a couple of mine for now.
