Boba Rhett Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 BREAKING NEWS!!! It has just been revealed that director Gore Verbinski has decided not to do the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie but instead, make a BIOSHOCK MOVIE. Let us ponder this news for a moment. We shall soon be seeing a heavily funded and well produced movie with these guys in it. Proceed to soil your pants and discuss.
Q Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 I'm not sure what to think about a Bioshock movie, because the track record of movies based on video games is not that great. I am happy with the decision to not produce another PotC movie, however. Three was more than enough.
mimartin Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 I think if they produced a movie based on the idea, the creation and the demise of Rapture, then it could be a very interesting movie. However, if the movie is just going to be a recreation of the story of Jack then I'm not overly interested in it unless Jack is changed to Jackie and Keira Knightley plays the role.
Jeff Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 I have still not beaten BioShock, can't get the damn thing to run on my laptop but from what I have seen it looks like it'd make for a great movie, and it's good to see a proven director take on the project. However, if the movie is just going to be a recreation of the story of Jack then I'm not overly interested in it unless Jack is changed to Jackie and Keira Knightley plays the role.I wouldn't mind that.
CommanderQ Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Bioshock is definately good movie material, it would probably be quite succesful, if executed properly...it'd be crazy scary though...ooh hoo hoo, that it would be:D
Samnmax221 Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Just as long as any stylistic resemblance to the latter two POTC movies is quickly ****canned. They were both awful.
Q Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 No arguments here. The first PotC was tolerable, if barely, because it was more funny than stupid. In the second and third films the stupidity eclipsed the humor to such a degree that I couldn't sit through them.

Jason Skywalker Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 I haven't even played BioShock lol. Never catered much to me despite everybody saying it was awesome.
Det. Bart Lasiter Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 dakota fanning as a little sister yesssssssssss
Miltiades Posted April 8, 2009 Posted April 8, 2009 Haven't played Bioshock, but from the things I've seen and read, it indeed lends itself well for a movie. The POTC movies were only interesting for the Jack Sparrow moments, so I'm not mourning.
Mav Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 dakota fanning as a little sister yesssssssssss I liked that movie where she got kidnapped by Mexicans and then Denzel went all ape**** and cut off people's fingers and shoved bob-ombs up people's rears.
swphreak Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 I'll believe it and be excited when I see it. Until then, it's another video game movie. Which automatically puts it in the negative. dakota fanning as a little sister yesssssssssss She's too old now, maybe a few years ago. Hopefully little sisters are little sisters, and the film makers don't pussy out and use older people.

tk102 Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 It has just been revealed that director Gore Verbinski has decided not to do the fourth Pirates of the Caribbean movie but instead, make a BIOSHOCK MOVIE. Call me an old man, but I remember way back when games used to be based on movies.
Boba Rhett Posted April 9, 2009 Author Posted April 9, 2009 Did you know that in hostage situations throughout the 80s they would routinely superglue copies of the E.T. game into Ataris and chuck them into the buildings?
Q Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 ^^^ I agree with the general consensus of the time that that particular game was bad. BTW, Bioshock's like $20.00 now. Since I now have access to a computer that can play it, is it worth it?
Rabish Bini Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 The originals always seem to be the best Terminator 2? Rocky IV? Lord of the Rings: The Two towers? Star Wars Ep 5? The originals aren't always the best

Commander Obi-Wan Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Eh. I just hope they make it as eerie as the game. And a good movie at the same time.
Rev7 Posted April 9, 2009 Posted April 9, 2009 Terminator 2? Rocky IV? Lord of the Rings: The Two towers? Star Wars Ep 5? The originals aren't always the best Depends on the genre and who made them. But yes, not all originals are the best. Hard to explain but it falls into its own category....
