Your Favorite Line In A Song

Recommended Posts

Can't choose any one line...

"Excuse me while I kiss the sky" - Purple Haze by Jimi Hendrix. Most badass line in a song ever.

"Living is easy with eyes closed, misunderstanding all you see

It's getting hard to be someone, but it all works out. It doesn't matter much to me." Strawberry Fields Forever by the Beatles

"Now at midnight all the agents

And the superhuman crew

Come out and round up everyone

That knows more than they do" - Desolation Row by Bob Dylan

"People you've been before that you don't want around anymore

That push and shove and won't bend to your will

I'll keep them still" - Between the Bars by Elliott Smith

So many good ones!

"And you think you're so clever and classless and free,

But you're still f***ing peasants as far as I can see,

A working class hero is something to be"

From "Working Class Hero" By John Lennon

"Imagine there's no countries

It isn't hard to do

Nothing to kill or die for

And no religion too

Imagine all the people

Living life in peace "

Imagine, again John Lennon

And after calming me down with some orange slices and some feotal spooning ET revealed to me his singular purpose he said, "You, are the Chosen One..."

-Rosetta Stoned, Tool.

The one who will deliver the message?!

Attention all planets of the Solar Federation!

Attention all planets of the Solar Federation!

Attention all planets of the Solar Federation!

We have assumed control!

We have assumed control!

We have assumed control!

~ Rush, 2112

Great pick.

If I can't be my own, I'd feel better dead

Probably my favorite Lennon solo song, along with "Oh My Love" and "Instant Karma"

The heavens wait in silence

For the coming of the end

As man perfects his own imperfection

Destruction closes in

- Dichotomy by Becoming the Archetype

We embody everything they despise

Because they see us through degenerate eyes

So when they cast you down as intolerant filth

Stand firm, never bow to the lies

- Relentless Intolerance by Demon Hunter

Maybe I'm the one, maybe I'm the one, who is, the scizophrenic psycho, yea, maybe I'm the one, maybe I'm the one, who is, the scizophrenic psycho...

This is in the song Psycho by Puddle of Mudd, and the reason it's my favorite is because I accidentally listened to it while downloading mods for KotOR a year or so back, so it's become both A. The KotOR2Files song, and B. One of them songs that makes you feel younger somehow.

Since every one of my answers to these favorite song threads is the same with Under the Milky Way I’ll add three more. These are some of my favorite lines from songs, not necessarily my favorite songs, except of course for Under the Milky Way.

Sometimes when this place gets kind of empty

Sound of their breath fades with the light

I think about the loveless fascination

Under the Milky Way tonight

From Under the Milky Way Tonight by The Church ~ Starfish 1988

There's a place in the world for the angry young man

With his working class ties and his radical plans

He refuses to bend, he refuses to crawl,

He's always at home with his back to the wall.

And he's proud of his scars and the battles he's lost,

And he struggles and bleeds as he hangs on the cross-

And he likes to be known as the angry young man.

From Angry Young Man by Billy Joel ~ Turnstiles 1976

He's Your Oldest And Your Best Friend,

If You Need Him, He'll Be There Again.

He's Always Willing To Be Second Best,

A Perfect Lodger, A Perfect Guest.

From Beautiful Loser by Bob Seger ~ Beautiful Loser 1975

People wondrin' why we broke apart, the great pretender here I go again

These things I do (it's all because of you)

I'll keep holdin' on, but I'll try (try not to think of you)

All I wanted was to hold you

From I’ll be Alright Without You by Journey ~ Raised on Radio 1986

We'll meet again by Vera Lynn.

It's an old song, but it's nice and optimistic against the backdrop of a dark period in our history.

We'll meet again, don't know where, don't know when,

But I know we'll meet again, some sunny day.

I have heard this before, oh yeah in HellBoy! ;)

You tell a thousand lies, been told a thousand times

Your words we hear, but we cannot sympathize

- A thousand lies by Machine Head

Of lives of friends that I have lost

Who pays the price, who pays the cost

Can't cry, just anger till the end

It burns inside to lose a friend

Tonight you arrested my mind

When you came to my defense

With a knife, in the shape of your mouth

In the form of your body

With the wrath of a god

-Belief, by Gavin deGraw

But where do you go to my lovely

When you're alone in your bed

Tell me the thoughts that surround you

I want to look inside your head, yes i do.

-Where Do You Go To by Peter Sarstedt
