Ikhnaton
my problem with 8 hours of sleep is that i am not getting "Good" sleep due to my apnea. Takes me a good hour after waking up to un-zombify due to my oxygen deprevation, and often I want to take a nap in the afternoon. At the risk of sounding like a dentist, sleep apnea is a serious problem. Your dentist will at least be able to refer you to a specialist who can at least fabricate an appliance you can wear at night to keep your airway open. edlib
Ed, I hope you're celebrating, too! I saw a couple of the guys from the team when I was walking around Boston yesterday. There was a stage set up near the waterfront where they were. I'm not a huge hockey fan... but it's always good to see one of the home teams make good! Just as long as the duck-boat parade doesn't interfere with my commute to and from work, that is! I took my first really long walk of the season after work last night. I needed it. I'm way behind schedule, thanks to the crappy weather, my weird work schedule lately, and trying to set aside enough time to the GF and her kids. Keyan Farlander
I've taken a few decent walks so far, but I'd like to make time for more. Maybe get back into running, but I think I need some custom shoes so I stop hurting my feet.
K_Kinnison
One nice thing where i live is that i am minutes away to some nice hiking trails on the bluffs nearby. THo I prefer a nice long hard bike ride
edlib
I tried riding a bike in and around Boston once. It was something I never tried to repeat. If I lived somewhere far more suburban/ rural, I'd probably have a nice bike, and ride often. As it is: I don't care for the experience, and really have nowhere convenient in or around my place that I'd be willing to store a bike at the moment anyway. So walking is still my best bet. I might be willing to try running at some point... but I still prefer the idea of walking mainly because I can do it in the same clothes I've been working all day in. Keyan Farlander
Walking is also good time for thinking. I find I tend to zone out and think about nothing when I'm running, because it's so unpleasant.
edlib
It's the nicest day in a week... And I'm inside trying to clean a virus off my PC. One I caught doing something stupid, that I should have known much, much better about. Something that I have scolded others about after I had to clean their systems of crap. I clicked on a link in an email from someone who never sends me links... Or emails for that matter. I feel like a moron... But I'm very disappointed in AVG's inability to cope with it. Malwarebytes seems to have caught it and fixed it... But I won't be comfortable until I run a few more scans and have them all come up clean... Damn. K_Kinnison
My fiancee got a malware on her computer that hid all the icons on the desktop and from Explorer. Ended up nuking the computer and reinstalling. Looking to get a back up HD in the future for the both of us. I other news our "wonderful" governor has given my Fiancee an 8.5% pay cut for being a State union employee and to "Balance the Budget". even tho she already makes 20% less then the nations average Civil Engineer. for over 4 years during the tough times of the Economy her Union has given up pay raises during negotiations in order to keep benefit costs down. In less then 6 months in office the Republican lead state legislator and newly elected governor have not compromised, and have not negotiated. And finally threw away 4 years of previous negotiations. and people still wonder why 6 Republican senators are facing recall elections, and there is a very large grass roots movement to recall Governor Walker
edlib
Yeah... Sounds like the same one. A lot of the desktop icons have disappeared, and it's blocking all attempts at running the antivirus. Damn... I'm going to try a few more things before taking the nuclear option. I really hope it doesn't come to that... But I'm prepared if it does.
Keyan Farlander
Trying to fix malware is a waste of time. Format, reinstall. Easier, less time-consuming.
edlib
I think I have it cleared out. Running a few additional scans while I'm at work to be sure... but I got the antivirus program to work this morning, and it cleared out a few additional things that MalwareBytes and Norton Power Eraser missed. But it seems to be running smoothly, and all the programs are back to normal. I'll be pretty paranoid about what I do on it for a while to be sure... but I read up a bit on this one, and while nasty, it's pretty easy to get rid of with the right tools. (This BBCode requires its accompanying plugin to work properly.) If all the current scans report clean, I'm going to risk going online to run HouseCall and Norton's Online Scan, just to make sure and ease my mind that it's really gone. But now that the firewall and antivirus program are back to life and let me update them, I'm pretty confident it's dead on my system.

edlib
Yeah... I found the hidden files and folders. Already made backups of the stuff that vanished... just in case. Seems like running a combination of MalwareBytes, Ad-Aware, and Norton Power Eraser in safe-mode crippled it... and then when AVG was updated and working again, it found the remnants and cleaned them out. K_Kinnison
If you read my Facebook account I have good news I got a job! about a month ago I interviewed for a job and they couldn't hire me due to lack of business. But they gave my name to another company and i filled out an application and talked to the owner. Tuesday I was called back for a phone interview, and was given a tour of the facility, and the job. I will be working in charge of Shipping/receiving for La Crosse Sign company. When not working S/R i will likely be doing errands, cleaning, and sorting things out. kinda of a gopher. But it pays more then my previous job.. and more hours. Plus, they have profit sharing with the employee's
edlib
Congrats! My laptop seems to be clean, and running normally... but I'm still going to run a few extra online scans on it to be 100% certain. I'm thinking about taking the day off. I'm working all day Sunday... starting at 6am. I figure I'd better rest while I can, since I'm going to feel that one for a week or more!
