Remi Posted February 15, 2003 Posted February 15, 2003 As I said earlier - Also, the Ron Gilbert chat logs - don't take everything in it for its face value. Gilbert would most likely rather be keelhauled than revealing anything about secrets and further plans for Monkey Island. I doubt a new chat with Ron would reveal a whole lot more.

ThunderPeel2001 Posted February 15, 2003 Author Posted February 15, 2003 Yep! EDIT: Jan 2005 Ahh nostalgia, my more naive days when I thought spelling and grammer were optional. Sorry, ironically... it's grammAr!
Jake Posted February 18, 2003 Posted February 18, 2003 Based on TP's reply there, I think it has been let go

scmafia Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 I don't remember the ending of MI2 very well so I might be missing something, but have you guys thought of the possibility that Guybrush starts dreaming at the end of MI2, that the whole story be true but thanks to LeChuck's vodoo spell, the ending with the whole theme park thing be just a dream? And then MI3 would be about Guybrush being missing or something like that. Given that I don't remember the ending of MI2 well, this might not be a good theory, but if it is, I think it would be brilliant and would make for a really interesting MI3.
scumm local Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 the reason they had no idea what the hell was going on was cause they didnt ask ron gilbert wen they made the third so in it they totally ignored the ending to mi 2
scumm local Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 they did claim to have asked ron but i saw in a interview that hed said he never had any contact of info on it that tiny reason =us all still fighting over if it was all a dream ect
Thrik Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 Have you actually read any of the posts in this (two year old) thread?
scumm local Posted February 14, 2005 Posted February 14, 2005 yes tons:chop1: wow youre 1 picky custama no offence
Joshi Posted February 15, 2005 Posted February 15, 2005 End of MI2: Chucky's eyes flare with lightning. Reason: Ron wanted to keep it open for potential sequels. MI3: Potential sequel. CMI: Sequel Why is this so hard for people. the CMI people took MI in their own direction, explainign away something that was locked inside the heads of people they don't even work with anymore wouldn';t have been a good idea, so they ignored it and to be fair, CMi was still a damn good game by most standards, including MI standards.

ThunderPeel2001 Posted February 16, 2005 Author Posted February 16, 2005 End of MI2: Chucky's eyes flare with lightning. Reason: Ron wanted to keep it open for potential sequels. MI3: Potential sequel. CMI: Sequel Why is this so hard for people. I have no idea!! I just started a thread saying the same thing and Remio shut it down immediately - God knows why, he won't answer my PM's. Fact: Monkey Island 2 ended with a line of dialogue to let people know Guybrush was under a curse... Why? Reason: So they could keep it open for sequels. Period. Why Remio and others disagree with this is absolutely beyond my comprehension.
ThunderPeel2001 Posted February 16, 2005 Author Posted February 16, 2005 *wah!* If only I possessed the prowse and verbal skill of "scummlocal" THEN my threads would remain open!
Alien426 Posted February 17, 2005 Posted February 17, 2005 You mean prowess. Prowse is Wow, my verbal skill rul0rz!! D'oh!
ThunderPeel2001 Posted February 17, 2005 Author Posted February 17, 2005 Yes, I meant having the West-Country twang of body builder David Prowse. Honest. Ok, I actually meant prose (too). Somehow I cleverly mingled two words into one uber-word, thus saving space > whch saved electricity > which saved coal > which helped save our planet's natural resources > and thus helped preserve the entire human race! I'm a hero! So you see it's actually rather clever.
AirMan Posted March 1, 2005 Posted March 1, 2005 Originally posted by Jake It’s not just stupid, it’s also very hard to use in a sequel. I wonder what Ron Gilbert had planned... I know exactly what he had planned. It's obvious by the way LeChuck has his revenge. He wanted to end the series. He wanted Guybrush trapped inside the ammusement park until the rest of his life. I know this by the way that it is impossible to save him from this in a sequal. You never do find out how Guybrush escaped, do you? Maybe the new writers (of CMI) couldn't work out a plausable escape, either, so dicided to leave it asa mystery. At least, that's how I understood the ending.
Chas Posted April 21, 2005 Posted April 21, 2005 I always just thought that the whole last sequence with LeChuck was a transition to another world. The whole point Guybrush was looking for Big Whoop was to escape from LeChuck by going into another world. LeChuck got there first waiting for him with his Voodoo doll to have his final revenge. But when Guybrush smashed the treasure chest, he opened the gateway into this other world, something LeChuck got caught in as well. The thing about this other world, they didn't just go there, it slowly made them become apart of it. At first making LeChuck think he was Guybrush's brother slowly making him into his brother. In the end they where both turned into Kids leaving the sequel open to have Guybrush escape or just have Guybrush live his life again growing up with his parents. Even if it was intended to be his imagination, it doesn't fit with the whole LeChuck turning around and Elaine's line at the end. Charlie
