C'jais
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/middle_east/3042907.stm Heavy metal music and popular American children's songs are being used by US interrogators to break the will of their captives in Iraq. Uncooperative prisoners are being exposed for prolonged periods to tracks by rock group Metallica and music from children's TV programmes Sesame Street and Barney in the hope of making them talk. Sgt Hadsell's favourites are said to be 'Bodies' from the XXX film soundtrack and Metallica's 'Enter Sandman'.

Boba Rhett
I uhhh.... guess I've been torturing myself every day for the past year. The Sesame Street stuff would do me in though. It'd get stuck in my head and I'd have to jump off of something.
acdcfanbill
all you gotta do is be happy for the bad music, and cry for the good stuff, then you'll be up too your ears in the good music
Pisces
First off. The original Sesame Street theme song is sweet, so you all just back off. And second, ever hear the Friends and Neighbours song? They did a play once at my elementary school...ugh *shudders* that's enough to scar little children.
XERXES
metallica? that would be awesome to hear in a POW camp. Now if they played Good Charlotte, The Hives, The Ataris, Sum 41, Blink 182, All American Rejects (wtf kind of name is this anyway?) Post-Hybrid Theory Linkin Park, The Used, Queens of the Stone Age, AFI, The White Stripes, Thursday, Audiovent *runs out of ideas* id probably die. As for Barney and Sesame Street, well I couldnt take Barney for very long...actually in such a hellish place I would probably sing the Barney songs to keep my mind from going insane from the cruel treatment. I grew up on Sesame Street (somewhat) so it would bring back memories. Cookie Monster is awesome. although...the article says that everything they are playing is culturally offensive to them so it might work. I couldnt really take metallica for 24 hours though...I will admit I have fallen asleep (while sober) to the S&M album a few times.
GonkH8er
As if making them listen to tallica would make them talk... The right thing to do would be to play half a metallica song, then stop it. They'd be begging to hear the rest of it, and THEN they'd talk

But judging by the stuff I've heard off their latest album, it may make some people switch off. Think of the heavier tracks on Sepultura's "Roots" and you kind of have the new album... Ouch! C'jais
Y'know, as funny as it is, it's still torture. Some Soviet factions used white noise generators as torture tools, and USA comdemned it. Now they're resorting to exactly the same. Being kept awake for 4 days in a row is torture, through and through.

Hyperglide
Man listening to Metallica (specifically Enter Sandman?) isn't friggin' torture. That's heavenly bliss. Seriously though if u want to torture people why not put on Squarepusher. If you've heard even one of their songs you'd know what I'd mean. I like techno but damn that's the most annoying techno i've heard from a group, ever.
