ckcsaber
@ Mamba - 5 Aerosmith songs, and not one of them is "Dream On"? For shame!! Me? I like Classic rock A LOT, but I'm right now listening to The White Stripes, a garage band. They're a pretty good band...
TheJackal
just a general summary: -Cat Power -Cowboys Fringants (french quebec band) -Godspeed your black emperor! -Interpol -Massive Attack -Muse -Pixies -Queens of the Stone Age -Radiohead -Rage Against the Machine -The Vines -Weezer -The White Stripes -Yo La Tengo i like stuff that is less mainstream even though i know Queens Of The Stone Age, but they became mainstream just because Dave Grohl (from Foo Fighters and Nirvana) played the drums for them on a few songs. I listen to them before thier big outrbreak into pop. Whitestripes only has a few song that are mainstreams. I'm sure thier previous CDs are never gonna be herd by the general public. Solbe M'ko
I could care less about the band/artist if the song is good. My personal favorites are as follows: -Skatin' (good bass!)-Albert Collins -Hideaway -As performed by JM's Bluesbreakers -Sex Machine -James Brown and the Famous Flames (or is it JBs?) The first one is a great instrumental, no matter what you like. Collins was no jack of all trades; he did what he did better than anyone else ever could. I also suggest "Give Me My Blues", that was the song that got me hooked on him. The second one is not really my favorite song, but it's just the most accepted one that the Breakers did. It's all pretty good stuff, that one is just good and well known.Another instrumental, the keyboards and guitar carry this one along. That last one is a really cool song, despite the fact that people seem to think that it's just one unending vamp. If you listen to James and Bobby really closely you can hear how they slowly alter the feeling of the song. The musicians change it up, too. That's just for right now, though. My tastes will change by the end of the week.
Father Torque
hmm big AC/DC fan, Aerosmith fan, Def Leopard, Guns and Roses, Metallica, Nirvana, Black Sabbath, Van Halen, Led Zepplin, and Motley Crew:) But I was watchinga movie called Tommy Boy with Chris Farley and David Spade. And there is this hella funny part when they are driving down the highway. And they sing this song by the carpenters called Baby Baby Baby. Its so funny when it gets to 1:14 seconds. Ruben Studdard sang it on American Idol too. You have to download it:p

Mainstream = MTV + Band sponsership = buying a CD from _____ is basicly buying advertisement for a corporation. Just listen to the lastest song being pumped out of MTV. They all mention a product like the Mini, or pepsi, honda, etc. I like more non mainstream music because they are mostly independant bands. Everything i do, listen, say and purchase is somehow politicaly motivated. I'm an activist at heart. What can i say? NOTE: dont get me wrong! There are some mainstream music which i do own. Rage Against the Machine and Radiohead are mainstream, but they are mostly against corporate sponsership too... especially Rage. I respect other bands/solos too. Justin Timberlake, he's done a lot of great things. But that doesnt mean I'm a big fan of him.
