Yeah, I don't know if it'll be ten parts, nor do I think that's what they'll be revealing over the next nine (or so) #MonkeyIslandMonday's. And even if there are ten parts, I doubt they'll be anywhere close to an equal length (i.e. Escape/Tales). I think it'd be more likely we'll have one gigantic chapter, and a few smaller chapters on the side like MI1-3. I'd be happier to see more variety in these weekly posts. (i.e. "What's Herman Toothrot up to these days? Find out in ReMI!" , "The first spoken word of ReMI is "You!" Find our what happens next!" , "It's official! Chris Pratt is the new LeChuck!" etc.)3 points

Clearly they are split into three games. Return to Monkey Island is the first, followed by End of Monkey Island (2024) and finally Rebirth of Monkey Island (2026). I thought that was obvious.3 points

Looks like there's also a lot of positively around these tweets as well (at least from what I'm seeing) which makes me happy in addition to the awesome music and title card. I hope this makes the team feel good and motivates them to continue sharing. While the selfish part of me just wants to see more, I also hope the positivity makes the team feel good.2 points

I wish they used Boens voice for Elaine throughout. In all seriousness though, I think the direction Ron had for the character (or at least her relationship with Guybrush) was way more interesting than what they ended up doing in the sequels. I hope he can make her interesting again.2 points

Yep. Thankfully I've forgotten a lot of the trailer already and haven't really mentally analysed it. I really want to go in as fresh as I was for Monkey 2, 3, 4 and 5... (Monkey 1 might be the only time in my life where I read about about something and then it exceeded/matched my expectations.)1 point

Yes, I think we can be pretty confident they're not just going to show 10 different chapter title screens. πEspecially since the wording from devolver is: It would sorta be an anticlimax if next monday they post 'And here's the second cool thing we're gonna share... another chapter card!' If I were to predict some of the things they miggght share: A sneak peak of how the dialogue/inventory/UI/controls work??? Some more of the music? More animation stuff?1 point

Whiners: "Ohhh no the forms in the new art style are too abstract for meeeee" Ann-Sophie: "Hold my grog" Love her portrayal of Melee Island. It looks truly three dimensional.1 point

My god, this is amazing. Every side view of MΓͺlΓ©e Island makes me happy. Also, Elaine is wearing the hat from that movie concept art.1 point

They have no choice. The slow and cozy flute version can only be used for the "Friendly Place" with the πͺ and the π©Έ. It doesn't even fit all those not so friendly places afterwards. My thought exactly. But I'd rather not have ten parts, because that would not just be "long" but also very linear. I'd rather have a part 2 in which the world opens up or rather explodes into a gigantic playground of four or five islands for us to explore. πΊοΈ Speaking of which, they better not release an overview map of all the islands any time soon because that's probably the moment I go insane with anticipation.1 point

On the music thing, I think, because A. Ron said the music was recorded live (which I know doesnβt mean the entire thing will be, but at least a good enough chunk of it must have been for him to say that), B. This is a small ensemble track, which is the exact sort of thing I think we were expecting to be live instruments, and C. The flute definitely sounds like it could be real, I would hazard a guess and say that the flute is probably real. But yeah, the fact that we canβt really tell whether or not itβs real just from listening to it means that it doesnβt really matter; it sounds GOOD and has lots of character, and thatβs what counts.1 point

Very clever Remi. Verrry clever. You will never beat my elimination skills. π I beat #Mojole #112 and all I got was this stupid t-shirt. 6/6 π€π€π€π€π€ π€π€π€π€π€ π€π€π€π€π€ π€π€π€π€π€ π€π€π€π€π€ πππππ https://funzone.mixnmojo.com/Mojole/1 point

Sure! (Note that whenever I'm saying "synth" I'm actually referring to sampled instruments from the E-MU Rack Instruments) Drums are live except for orchestral pieces (where there are marching drum patterns, like snare rolls); Percussions are also live for most part except when there are a LOT of percussion, in those occasions the live percussions are augmented by synth ones (the cannibal theme on Blood Island is a perfect example of mostly synth percussions); Marimba and steel pan are live on in-game pieces, and synth on cutscenes (except for the intro cutscene and the Elaine becoming a statue scene); Reed and woodwind instruments are for a good half live and for the other half synth in-game, while are completely synth for the cutscenes (except for the main theme, in which the only synth instruments are the hammond organ and the MT-32 organ); Keyboard instruments are synth (organ, harpsichord); Bass guitar is always live, played by Michael Land himself, and can be heard on any band based track. Non-band tracks use a synth pizzicato doublebass instead; Electric and acoustic guitars is always always live (thank god, sampled guitars just suck π); The whole orchestra (violins, violas, strings in general, brass instruments, timpani) is synth;1 point

If the release date is Talk Like A Pirate Day... Monday 19 September then uuhhh I would say this is a countdown. Including this one but not including the 19th, there are 10 Mondays left. That's 10 little mini clips for them to plan. Put it this way... I no longer think it's November, because that would mean they'd be doing this for like 20 weeks up to release which feels like an awful lot of tidbits to release. But 10? Nice round number? Mm, that's believable. (alternatively believable, on the 19th Sept they drop the release date as Thursday, for day and date with Switch store)1 point

There was. I went on that trip and from what I remember I think there were like... 2 guests who had actually paid for the tier, then a couple more who won a contest to go along, and then a couple of us got invited to go along. It's the sort of thing that could have been pretty awkward, done wrongly, but literally the whole of the studio showed up and everyone was just so welcoming and generous with their time. And you could feel just by being there how much their making efforts to be a diverse and welcoming studio had done for their whole vibe. Everyone just genuinely was enjoying each other's company but also being super welcoming to any new person who crossed their path. I had someone I knew who was reasonably local to it drive me down to the campground and they were going to just drop me off and leave me to it, but instead they ended up staying a few hours, played some board games, tie dyed a shirt with us just because they thought it would be nice to let them hang out a bit before leaving, it was that lovely kind of comfortable, big-hearted thing that I think really defines what DF is as a group of people.1 point

My musical brain is already tickling, this is some fricking good stuff! The production level seems to be on par with Curse (well, at least for these 12 seconds), which is only good news π take this with a grain of salt, but (judging by ear) the wind instruments seem to come from SWAM virtual instruments, which I have used many times and are so good. And I agree with @KestrelPi, not-live/synthesized does not equal a bad soundtrack: want to know how many synth instruments Curse has versus live ones? You'd be surprised π It probably comes down to choosing the right instruments to be performed live (notably percussive, exotic and band instruments), choosing some very convincing samples (and as a musician I can say that in 2022 we're basically overloaded with those) and having the right producer working on it and mixing the final product. Unfortunately, IMHO Tales lacked in all these three departments, but Return already seems to excel at each one of these!1 point

Nice. Censor the person who is being accused, given the middle finger, and has written nothing offensive. Slightly ironic. But fine, I am not participating in this travesty anymore. Merry Christmas Bennyboy, and the rest of you. Back on topic.1 point
