Astrotoy7 Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 I remember a thread where we were asked to name our 3 most fave things, most of us included our pc in there somewhere.... I think most of us are this to some degree... .. I think if you like gaming, and spend at least a few hours on the comp surfin, chatting, playing MP or posting of forums, then you are a comp nerd.... vote ! mtfbwya
Sivy Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 yeah, i guess i am. but then working in I.T it's my job to be a computer geek...so i'm a professional computer geek
txa1265 Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 I guess it is a true mark when you're in your late 30's and people - young 20's-ish people - still come to you for help with any assortment of computer problems. Mike
Darth Rythe Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 I like to fiddle with computers but get really PO'd when things go wrong with them.
Clemme w/Stick Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 I voted for the 3rd option, because I see myself somewhere in between. Plus I dont really know where the line between being a geek and not being a geek is located. -Clemme

The_One Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 Well, the other week, I was trying to convince a friend he should avoid Intel's new Prescott core for the time being, and stay in safer territory with the Northwood. As I was explaining the relative advantages of Northwood, as opposed to Prescott, he stared at me with a blank face, stopped me and just said "geek!" So, yes, I am a geek - and I realised this long before I was told the other week

Druid Bremen Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 I HAVE said lol out loud before, and I find it hard to say anything else to replace that. Like for example, haha. I used to laugh, but now I say lol. I think I qualify.
ET Warrior Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 IN college right now with computer science as a major. I guess that qualifies me as a computer geek.
Pie™ Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 Yeah, sadly i have to admit that it's true Well, It's okay
Sam Fisher Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 yeah.. I r teh computer g33k. Ahem.. Yep, I like comps a lot.
Nerd_Annhilator Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 Yep, I am. and now, everyone at school wants to test it, becuase they're jealous. (I'm serious about the testing part...)
ExcelsioN Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 Well then I guess I must be one. Nothin' wrong with it.

MennoniteHobbit Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 Umm... I like computers... I'm on the computer 3+ hours a day... attempt at getting my parents to buy for me a bunch of computer parts to build my own computer... I'm not a computer geek am I????
GothiX Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 I've said "lol" so many times, but that's because it's a Dutch word. I don't really consider myself a geek as well - more like an evil person that scares 6-year olds with his appearance..
Redwing Posted April 1, 2004 Posted April 1, 2004 "- If you can type 70 words a minute but can't read your own handwriting" That's true...the only one... Yay! I qualify! ^__^

rccar328 Posted April 2, 2004 Posted April 2, 2004 Well...I can only type about 65 words per minute, but I'm the only one I know who can read my handwriting (unless I take my time and write carefully). According to the little test, I don't qualify. Of course, I only use my computer to play games & type reports for school (and email & news & LF)... So does that make me a computer geek or a gamer/student? Actually, I'm more of a bookworm than a computer geek.
