I remember a thread where we were asked to name our 3 most fave things, most of us included our pc in there somewhere....

I think most of us are this to some degree... .. I think if you like gaming, and spend at least a few hours on the comp surfin, chatting, playing MP or posting of forums, then you are a comp nerd....

I guess it is a true mark when you're in your late 30's and people - young 20's-ish people - still come to you for help with any assortment of computer problems.

are any of the following true?

- you've asked for paint in the color of #9999FF

- you've seen John Grisham's "The Client" in bookstores, and your first thought is that the sequel should be called "The Server".

- you know the name of the linux penguin

- you know what Dvorak and Qwerty refer to.

- you check your e-mail before you brush your teeth in the morning

- you 've found "stray" diskettes when doing laundry

- you understand the sounds your modem makes ...and can speak them

- you laugh at the scene in Jurassic Park where the girl hacks the "unix system"

- you've said 'lol' out loud

- If you introduce your wife as "mylady@home.wife"

- If you don't even know where the cover to your computer case is

- If you can type 70 words a minute but can't read your own handwriting

Well, the other week, I was trying to convince a friend he should avoid Intel's new Prescott core for the time being, and stay in safer territory with the Northwood. As I was explaining the relative advantages of Northwood, as opposed to Prescott, he stared at me with a blank face, stopped me and just said "geek!"

So, yes, I am a geek - and I realised this long before I was told the other week :p

hmmm .... I'm such an old school geek that I was a well established geek before anyone started using 'lol' ... and we called them AOL newbies ...

... times change ...

I've said "lol" so many times, but that's because it's a Dutch word. I don't really consider myself a geek as well - more like an evil person that scares 6-year olds with his appearance..

That's true...the only one...

Yay! I qualify! ^__^

Yes.

But no.

Well...I can only type about 65 words per minute, but I'm the only one I know who can read my handwriting (unless I take my time and write carefully).

According to the little test, I don't qualify.

Of course, I only use my computer to play games & type reports for school (and email & news & LF)...

So does that make me a computer geek or a gamer/student?

Actually, I'm more of a bookworm than a computer geek.
