Boba Rhett Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 Halo and Ridley Scott. Did you read me right? The man behind such masterpieces as Alien, Blade Runner and Gladiator may be directing a movie version of Halo! Discuss. linky
Darth Groovy Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 *passes out* *comes around after a while* Good choice for a director, Halo is not camp, and I always thought it would make an amazing movie! Who's gonna be the voice of master chief?
Neverhoodian Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 Oh...my...God... If it's really going to be a movie, I hope they stick to the game's storyline and hire top-notch actors for the main characters. Hopefully this will be the exception to the "movies based on video games suck" rule.
CapNColostomy Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 Too bad I despise Halo, because Scott's cool I think. Black Hawk Down is one of my all time favorite movies.
TiE23 Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 *Wets, ****s, and creams pants in one second* OMG!!! *passes out from loss of anus* TiE
BongoBob Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 If they f*** this movie up, there will be no end to the mobs of halo fans. Myself included. I hope they can encompass some of the info from at least the prequal book the fall of reach. I hope they can make it with the voices of the game. If not, I will plain not like it. Hell, I think they should make it all CG. I think that's the only way to do a video game movie right.
Darth Groovy Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 You know, a huge part of me wants THIS to be the video game-to-movie that breaks the mold of bad video game-to-movies cycle. Considering the track record of such movies, I can't say I blame Ridley Scott for turning it down, but IF he takes helm, he may break this cycle. Seriously, this is the make or break point for video game movies to either sink or swim.
stingerhs Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 total sweetness!!! i really hope that scott sticks to the story presented in the novel The Fall of Reach. it was the "official" prequel to Halo. for more info, consult amazon.com
Rogue15 Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 mmm....i prefer playing to watching. hollywood can stuff it.
Doomie Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 I hope it'll be "expanded Halo universe", because we already know what happens in the games. Except for me, but i intend to find out soon.
Evil Dark Jedi Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 Originally posted by Rogue15 mmm....i prefer playing to watching. Yeah so do I. But a Halo movie not related with the games would be good.
obi Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 I hope it turns out good. Even though it's a good director, it doesn't mean that the movie itself will be good. Good directors have screwed up before.... I wish they would hire me to play Master Chief. I can do an awesome impersination. Seriously.
Astrotoy7 Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 oooh yeah ! [/insanely sarcastic] games much such GREAT movies !!!!! *Alien Vs Predator *Dungeons & Dragons *Mario Bros *Tomb Raider 1 & 2 *Final Fantasy The Movie (I havent seen FF7AC yet so hopefully that may have some redeeming aspects) etc what the freak is hollywood coming to, its obvious theyve given up on cinema as an artform as for Scott, he is slowly but surely losin it...... and let me tell you *the one and ONLY reason* he would be interested in such a project : $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ $ mtfbwya
Rogue Nine Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 Alien vs. Predator is a crossover of the two movie franchises, both of which predate the video games of the same name. Thus, it is incorrect to categorize the movie Alien vs. Predator as a game-to-movie conversion.
Kain Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 *smacks Astrotoy for mentioning D&D movie* They never made a D&D movie, that was like...not D&D:¬:
acdcfanbill Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 did you hear they are not making another D&D movie?
ET Warrior Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 Some people are too cynical. Sure it might be crappy like pretty much every other game-to-movie port. BUT. What if it doesn't suck? What if it's freakin awesome and exciting? I personally hope they don't use any of the story from the games, because I've already SEEN those stories. I'd like something totally new involving master chief and humanities struggles
KBell Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 Originally posted by ET Warrior What if it doesn't suck? What if it's freakin awesome and exciting? Well thankyou Mr. Obvious
Crazy_dog no.3 Posted November 20, 2004 Posted November 20, 2004 I doubt it will happen, but if it will it'll be cool.
swphreak Posted November 21, 2004 Posted November 21, 2004 That would be awesome to see SPARTAN-117 kicking some Elite butt.
