I often play Star Trek 25th Anniversary on my 22 inch monitor. As its an old game and plays on an almost 1x1 resolution, with my curtains open if you stand on the road a good 200 meters away you can clearly see i am playing a Star Trek game. It's like a billboard.

200m. Sure, if you have the eyesight of a rabbit !! I think you'd be hard pressed to see that a a 22 or 30" monitor... (I definitely would be)

Grab your camera, walk 200m up the road and take a pic... I want to see what you are referring to...!

Edit:

Jesus F. Christ!

That's one big monitor, have you got it pinned against the wall or ceiling? lolz

I was thinking about wall mounting it.... but decided against it. I'd only ever do that with a 40" monitor or something I use just as a TV(which I did in the bedroom with the 27" display I had.

what Im also really looking forward to is plugging a ps3 into it - theres a contraption you can get that'll allow me to get full 1080p hidef from the ps3s hdmi connection :D yum!

MS and soem of its trade partners showed off a house with 'screen walls' thats what I'd want !!

...Except for Mass Effect, which should come to PC anyways....

if someone could clarify it for sure, then it'd save me getting a 360!! I know its a "xbox 360 exclusive", but so was Jade Empire ;)

the ps3 is getting more and more interesting for me anwyay...gaming aside, recent firmware updates have enabled using a xp/vista based pc as a media server via LAN. Linux peeps are doing some cool things on it, that can only get better. The latest scuttlebut is some type tivo-esque functionality... still, all that aside, the final fantasy games, PC Lan biz, TFU and blu ray are the 4 reasons I will get one.....eventually !! dang - If they released SW on bluray, i'd pick one up on my way home tmrw (shortly after committing a couple of felonies) :D

I'm leaning towards Blu Ray as well, but I'm waiting for two things first:

1) Mo money

2) See which format wins the HD battle

I cursed when I found out JE was 360 only, and then I cursed even more when it was finally released for PC but mine is too geriatric to play it in any other mode besides slideshow mode :(

I would be taken aback if HD DVD didn't win this battle.

JE? Is that Jade Empire?

Oh, and I also just got a widescreen 19" and a widescreen 22". Not epic 30inchers but massive upgrades to what I had. :)

Brainwave glasses are all done.

So what we have here is some slightly modified safety goggles. On right temple is a battery pack that is connected to the little circuit board on the left temple. The PCB has an Atmel microcontroller, a couple LEDs, and a stereo jack, and a serial port for programming. The Atmel has two internal oscillators that drive the LEDs and the stereo headphones at various frequencies. The idea here is to flash the lights in sync with biaural beats to induce various brainwave patterns.

This little toy was inspired by Make magazine Issue #10.
