Master Demonius
I got this from the WWE website. STAMFORD, Conn., June 25, 2007 – World Wrestling Entertainment was informed today by authorities in Fayette County, Ga., that WWE Superstar Chris Benoit, his wife, Nancy, and his son were found dead in their home. Authorities are investigating, but no other details are available at this time. Instead of its announced programming for tonight on USA Network, WWE will air a three-hour tribute to Chris Benoit. Chris was beloved among his fellow Superstars, and was a favorite among WWE fans for his unbelievable athleticism and wrestling ability. He always took great pride in his performance, and always showed respect for the business he loved, for his peers and towards his fans. This is a terrible tragedy and an unbearable loss. WWE extends its sincere condolences and prayers to the Benoit family and loved ones in this time of tragedy. Here's a picture of Chris Benoit. True_Avery
I used to watch WWF (Now WWE) and remember him well. May peace be with him and his family.
Sabretooth
Oh My God, I remember him really well. He was one of the more lively and fun wrestlers. Rest in peace, Benoit. You were the greatest.
RC-1162
Holy S***! I can't believe it. He was always one of my top favourites. It's gonna be a big blow to WWE. RIP The Benoit family BTW: Does anyone else find it weird that the two best friends (Benoit and Eddie Guerrero) are now dead? EDIT: NEW! Benoit's death part of a double murder-suicide
Aash Li
Im probly going to be waiting for them to bring him out of the closet, telling us that it was just part of the story of wwe... or atleast thats what I was thinking when I first saw it. Then McMahon himself came back from the dead (after being blown up), and told us it was a memorial ep for Benoit. I guess it was shock, and the fact that wwe is just one be drama-queen of a show... so I wasnt sure what to think. O.o... that double-murder-suicide is just weird, it reminds me of the Shining, when that guy was recounting the tale of the previous caretaker who got cabin-fever. Bob Lion54
Wow... that sucks. I used to watch wrestling when I was a kid and then briefly when it had its surge in 99-2000. I remember Benoit well. He was one of my favourites. RIP Benoit Family.

WWF/WWE does make a fun drama-queen story-line, but I watched it long enough to know the difference between the fake and the reality. They have had a few other wrestlers die on and off the show, so it is really a pity. These men and women beat the hell out of each other for our entertainment and for a love of what they do, and I think that is something to be respected. And don't tell me for a second that all wrestling is fake as I have read both of Mick Foley's books and he was, in my opinion, the best damn wrestler to ever hit the business. Double murder suicide eh? Meh, possibly. Suicide is almost always put out as a first thought, but only the autopsy and a few more days of inspection may give us a clear answer. Still, its a pity either way.

Gargoyle King
Damn, all dead together in the house - how very strange. A shame, Benoit was great and deserved the title of "Superstar".
JoeDoe 2.0
Why are so many wrestlers dying? Benoit and Guerrero were my favorites, may they find peace.
JediMaster12
That was a sad day. My heart and prayers go out to the extended family of Chris Benoit and his other son and daughter. He was a good wrestler and always worked the hardest at playing to the crowd. I actually saw his last match for the ECW title. Sad thing. RIP. Caius Fett
Man What a shame. I tuned in last night and was shocked to hear about them being found dead. I will always remember Him as being a fabulous wrestler. Truly a Superstar. R.I.P
True_Avery
UPDATE!!! My mom told me this Chris strangled his wife on Saturday, smothered his son on Sunday, and hung himself in his weight room on Monday. So unfortunately we are mourning a murderer. Oh, and I'm sure all else he did in life goes right out the f'in window along with what his life was worth because he was a murderer. Nice outlook on life. May peace be with him and his entire family.
Jae Onasi
Well, we don't know the whole story with Chris--there may have been some health or mental issues that drove him to do this. Obviously he had some very serious issues if he killed his young son. It doesn't condone what he did, obviously, but there are other things that will come to light after the autopsies are done. True, we can't judge just yet - it is a very shocking revelation however as i have such high respect for him as a wrestler - if it's true, like Jae said there would have to be some serious underlying mental problems somewhere; what a comedown, may his family rest in peace, as for Chris himself well it would seem he has committed the ultimate sin and it is hard not to judge him, just what drives a person to do something like this? swphreak
I've heard like 3 or 4 different stories about what happened. So, I'm reserving judgement until the investigation is complete. I used to watch WCW about the time of the NWO and Wolfpac, then WWF with Stone Cold Steve Austin as the commish... good times.
Pho3nix
I never had a thing for watching sweaty men wrestle each other in tight fitting clothes for "entertainment". So I'm not really bothered by this, it caught my eye only because his wife and child died as well.
spinkle
Here is corroboration for the murder-suicide version of this story. I have friends who work at WWE and they said the vibe there is all over the place...no one knows what to think or how to feel.
xmovingpicturesx
There's all this talk about how bad he is as a person and a lot of people are turning on him for it. I'm sure he had his own reasons for doing this, I'm not saying that he was right, but we don't exactly now the circumstances. The fact of the matter is that these people are dead, and Chris Benoit was one of the greatest wrestlers to ever live. He still deserves our respect for the many great things he's done in the sport and the accomplishments that he achieved. As for me, he will always be one of the best and I'll refrain from passing judgment until the autopsy results come in. Even then, I'll still respect him. Chris, Nancy, Daniel... rest in peace. SilentScope001
It doesn't matter what really happened. The result is the same: They're all dead. Shouldn't we have respect for the dead? RIP.
Jae Onasi
Shouldn't we have respect for the dead? Yes, we should. My grandma always said if you don't have something nice to say, particularly about the dead, don't say it. I think that would be a wise thing to do in this thread as well. Reading between the lines of the reports, I think he'd been on anabolic steroids for quite some time, and that can cause mental instability. The timing of the deaths makes me think that he had very likely had a mental break with reality and wasn't in his right mind at the time. This doesn't say anything about his career itself, but it is a strong message on what certain performance-enhancing drugs can do to someone long-term. I think that would be a wise thing to do in this thread as well. Agreed ten-fold. And as such if you DON'T have anything nice to say, then don't bother visiting, much less posting in this thread. I have done a house-cleaning and as such I expect it to remain "clean".
