Xarwarz Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 CLOSE THIS THREAD............... Well i've been working on a tsl graphical enhancement for about 2 years now believe it or not. I'm just one man in between work, life, and trying not to give up my long hobby. But no i don't do it everyday which is why 1 reason its taking long also getting the right looking textures wasn't easy. I had to just replace the majority of the textures in the game cause some just can't be enhanced. These days texture must be 512, or 1024 and bigger to look right. The texture quality has to be rich in color. Certain textures like ebonhawk and other big vehicle textures that stretch over the a model can't be enhanced with there regular textures and had to be replaced. Matching up texture in certain areas is a challenge as i often run into cut off lines or segment lines as there is no blending from 1 texture to the next. Tsl doesn't use normal maps but some other form of normal map that doesn't work when textures are extracted. So i had to make my own reflections to give them realism. The good news is I'm almost done with the graphical mod about 80 percent and will be finished this year before the new star wars game comes out then this will be old news. Well in the mean time some samples of what I'm doing. All current planets will be re textured......... CLOSE THIS THREAD...................
Ghost Down Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 Cool, could you perhaps show us some ingame screenshots to?
Achilles Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 Wow, the difference is amazing! Looking forward to seeing the rest.
xrefusex Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 This looks really good! It kind of reminds me of how Duke Nukem 3D was 'improved' with the visual upgrade patch; it can only make the game more interesting! Curiously, are you planning on enhancing explosion and force effects as well?
HdVaderII Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 The harbinger is the best looking of all of the screens! Looks really great
Ctrl Alt Del Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 Impressive, to say the least. Worth to replay the game just to appreciate.
jonathan7 Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 That does look seriously good! Reminds me abit of Quarls high texture pack I have for OblivionLook forward to seeing more
ForeverNight Posted April 12, 2008 Posted April 12, 2008 <Whistles> Dang, that looks sweet! Looks like I'm going to have to re-install my version of TSL when this comes out!
darthcarth Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 Heck yes i have been waiting for one of these i realy cant wait!!!!!! :D
RedHawke Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 Wow, the difference is amazing! Looking forward to seeing the rest. QFT... looks sweet!
Sith Holocron Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 Now I'll feel sad that Shem's videos won't have these type of texture in them. Looking forward to the final project (but I'll likely keep that new Nar Shaddaa skybox unless Xarwarz comes up with something better) A question: will you be doing work on only the "official" released planets or will you also be taking a crack at M4-78 as well?

Curiously, are you planning on enhancing explosion and force effects as well? As of now im just concentrating on the background textures Edit: Now I'll feel sad that Shem's videos won't have these type of texture in them. At this point in time i'm modding official planets but m4 78 wont be left out
Kainzorus Prime Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 While it's not a real bumpmapping (shame that it was never implemented), it certainly shows a difference.
Salzella Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 Excellent looking, nice improvement My only concern is that some of them could turn out to be a bit overpowering? The one in the first screen could do with a lower and contrast i think Like i said though, really nice looking.
Miltiades Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Great! I really was hoping you hadn't abandoned this. I was really looking forward to it. Your Peragus and Harbinger were amazing. Keep it up!
Darth Payne Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 I'll have to agree. This looks very good. Definite download for me when it's finished.

Ill see this mod finished i put a lot of work in it so everyone can enjoy it when its time.... it ll be done in the next couple of months... when this comes out the old peragus and harbinger mods will pale in comparison.
