Shem Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 This is just weird! http://www.asylum.com/2008/06/23/woman-dead-for-42-years-before-someone-noticed/?icid=200100397x1204673191x1200207701
Det. Bart Lasiter Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I liked the "Want to see some women who knock 'em dead? How about our readers choice for the sexiest pinups ever?" ad at the bottom of the article.
Astor Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 That's crepy. The stange thing is, she must have died when she was 42, (if we take the year of death from the birth year), so didn't she have any family? I can understand why many might have not have known she was there, though. 42 years is a long time for someone to live in one place, so her neighbours might not even have been aware of her.
Ztalker Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Ehm. 42...was supposed to be the answer to everything in the Universe. Freaky... 42 years...and no-one suspected anything? Seems very, very strange!
Miltiades Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 I liked the "Want to see some women who knock 'em dead? How about our readers choice for the sexiest pinups ever?" ad at the bottom of the article. They come at the most appropriate times, don't they?
Totenkopf Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 They must have lived in a rather aromatic area, given that no one noticed a funny smell. Odd, if true.
DrPhil2501 Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 This sorta sounds like that Frederick Boyle case... that was creepy!
Rev7 Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 You find the oddest things, Shem! _EW_ Agreed. I have to say that is just a little bit strange. The smell must have been horrible for the people that searched her house.
HerbieZ Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Imagine she had a PS3 plugged into her television. Now that would be creepy.
mur'phon Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 The smell must have been horrible for the people that searched her house 42 years is a long time, she had probably stopped rotting a long time ago.
Ravnas Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 That "Want to see some women who knock 'em dead? How about our readers choice for the sexiest pinups ever?" cracked me up. However the story itself is bizarre.
Serpentine Cougar Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Pretty creepy... Imagine she had a PS3 plugged into her television. That would just mean it's a hoax.
HerbieZ Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Not necessarily. She could have been a time-traveller.
Rev7 Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 42 years is a long time' date=' she had probably stopped rotting a long time ago.[/quote'] I know this, but the smell never goes away. Or so I have heard...
Darth333 Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 I looked at the source article, it explains everything: But she was found by police and bailiffs who had broken in to help the authorities establish who owned the flat.Ahhh...a bailiff..not surprising...I guess they wanted to "update" the tax roll. Taxes and death...two unavoidable things. It's surprising she was able to "escape" the former for 42 years! That "Want to see some women who knock 'em dead? How about our readers choice for the sexiest pinups ever?" cracked me up. I thought the same thing.
mur'phon Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 If you smell really closely expecting something to smell bad, it'll smell bad to you. I know most animal bones don't smell, so unless humans have the "lingering smell" ability...
TKA-001 Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 I call a coηspiracy of some sort. I've heard of people's bodies being unnoticed in apartments for weeks or even months, but there's no freaking way that this individual's corpse would stay unnoticed for four and a quarter decades before anyone suspects a thing by a freak coincidence.
mur'phon Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 Why not? If I throw a billion sided dice, would you say it's impossible to get a 1?
mur'phon Posted June 25, 2008 Posted June 25, 2008 What where the odds of the sperm cell making it that made you reality. Almost impossible things happen all the time, in fact, if they didn't, something fishy would be going on.
Fiestainabox Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 Heh, really wish I could make a CSI joke about this that would match this emoticon: Anyway, I'd like to see what she was watching for 42 years, probably Star Wars.
Jae Onasi Posted June 26, 2008 Posted June 26, 2008 Agreed. I have to say that is just a little bit strange. The smell must have been horrible for the people that searched her house. Actually, the smell would have abated within a few months or so (depending on the heat or cold), and all that was left at this point was probably a skeleton.
