Negative Sun
I'd rather have George Bush third term than this clown. At least with Bush, the rich got richer. looolz, the collective bunch of Wall Street stock brokers applauds your insightful comment! They most certainly have not felt the noose tighten to lethal degrees under the Bush regime, not one bit!!! Seriously, well done USA, takes us back to the days of JFK and Martin Luther, etc...Back to a place where democracy actually meant just that. GarfieldJL
Iran has nuclear weapons? I thought Israel was the one who had the nukes... Iran is trying to acquire Nukes and their leader calls Israel a stinking corpse...
Corinthian
Of course, Israel has nukes too, so if Iran is stupid enough to try it, Iran will be turned into a nice field of trinitite.
Taak Farst
*sigh* I was all for Obama winning..but the blacks are getting too much power now...not in my eyes..but other people. Obama is bound to be assasinated - he will get shot definately. Look at Martin Luther King - and look at JFK. Didn't turn out well did it! MLK Succeeded but got shot! I don't think it's any different in Obama's case. *Ultra sigh* What I think he will do is basically carry on feeding power through to black people - Not to sound racist or anythin. But if he DOES do that - he will be more of a target than Martin Luther King was in my opinion The sort of racist people tire me tho - my mum got an email this morning from an american m8 - and all it sed was - WERE SCREWED NOW! - can tell wat that was about cant u? The basics is : Obama will be assassinated and it will be tried by all the racist people who can manage to acquire a gun. Why won't obama be assassinated? What stopped all the black famous campaigners in history?

The pope is more likely to get assassinated (IMHO) then Obama. If Obama were shot and killed, I'm pretty sure the entire black community would kill the people (organization) responsible. Darth333
Congratulations to the people of the US for making a statement to the world about equality and hope. Ive seen footage of people in Germany, France, Africa even Indonesia(with the largest Islamic population per capita) celebrating the outcome of this election. Unprecedented. I cannot remember seeing such wonderful happy faces, especially of young people celebrating the election of a US president. Huge contrast to when GW got in especially. QFE. A lot of people have been celebrating here too...dad called me last night to tell me they were (literally *) sabering a champagne bottle The whole world was watching...as a Canadian, I had more interest in the US election than the Canadian one which has been held a few weeks ago...we're a rather "insignificant" country and it's not like our Prime Minister (or "president" as Obama called him lol ) can screw up the whole planet...( future might be unknown but at least we can "hope"...somewhat no one expects "miracles" still, "hope" is better than nothing... I also have to give some credit to McCain for his last night's speech.) * I guess I should call now to inquire about the mess! Also, Obama won't be assasinated for the same reason Bush wasn't. Corinthian
To be honest, I'm surprised we haven't had more presidential assassinations or assassinations of candidates. I can't figure it would have been that difficult, really - they do the handshaking the supporters thing and talking with them and stuff. I can't figure it'd be that difficult for someone to get close with a pocket pistol. Maybe the Secret Service really are ninjas.
Yar-El
I mentioned back a few weeks about the 2000 election phenomenon. I was right. Obama may have won the Presidential Election; however, he won with only 52% of the popular vote. Keep these numbers in mind. Barack Obama 63,948,169 votes - 52% John McCain 56,441,529 votes - 46% 2008 general election state results He may have convinced 52% to vote for him now; however, he is going to have an uphill fight for a second term. George Bush won his second term due to his response a war. Obama: Victory Speech Pay attention to the crowd. Obama's speech was a pretty nice start; however, the crowd fell very silent when he mentioned "...We may not get there in one year or one term..." - "...a new spirit of service and sacrifice". Hmm... Military Draft? War on Iraq will last longer than he promised?
mimartin
1992 Election Clinton 43.0% 44,909,806 Electoral Vote 370 Bush 37.7% 39,104,500 Electoral Vote 168 1996 Election Clinton 49.24% 47,402,357 Electoral Vote 379 Dole 40.71% 39,198,755 Electoral Vote 159 2000 Election Bush 47.9% 50,456,002 - Electoral Vote - 271 Gore 48.4% 50,999,897 - Electoral Vote – 266 2004 Election Bush 50.7% 62,040,610 Electoral Vote – 286 Kerry 48.3% 59,028,444 Electoral Vote – 251 2008 Election Obama 52.4% 63,948,169 Electoral Vote 349 (now) McCain 46.3 % 56,477,644 Electoral Vote 162 Obama got a higher popular vote total and a higher vote percentage than Clinton or Bush. You're also reading way to much into a political speech. Much like JFK speech "Ask not what your country can do for you--ask what you can do for your country." Obama is saying to fix the problems in the country today will take hard work and sacrifice by all its citizens.
Achilles
You don't think that Joe Biden is the same type of insurance policy?Nope. Unless you want to argue that people are more afraid of a Biden presidency than an Obama presidency. I personally think that Obama picked someone that he felt would be able to pick up right where he left off should something happen. That's just the feeling I have though, nothing more.
