Chevron 7 locke
Yeah well, it's hard to find in the United States. I see it at Piggly Wiggly all the time. I never buy it though as Ramen reigns supreme
Ultimate Vader
There are more in Indonesia. Mie Sedap (badass), Sarimi, Maggi (nice), Supermie (I love the Soto Mie flavor), Kare (state of the art), PopMie (another badass), Mie Cap 3 telor (I hope the name is correct, this is good too), and more. It has been stated in EYD (Indonesian languange rules) that it is not Mee. And all of you probably never try Kare. Awesome flavor.
CommanderQ
"NNOOODDDLLEEE MMAANNN!!!!" *Plays theme* Well, Asian noodles period, practically rule the noodle market. Now, I don't know about the Indonesian noodles, but it sounds like something worth trying.... The flavors sound very unique.
Bee Hoon
yeah... i have this favorite malaysian restaurant... its in one tiny little nook, but man, their noodles are to die for!! I commend you for your excellent taste What noodles are you referring to, in particular? It has been stated in EYD (Indonesian languange rules) that it is not Mee. And all of you probably never try Kare. Awesome flavor.Well, technically it's not mee in Malay either (iirc) but mangling language is another Malaysian specialty! Hurray! I'm guessing that kare=curry, so don't diss my curry-eating prowess I may prefer fresh noodles, but that is not the point of this topic! Why, today I just had my yummy Maggi Mee for lunch! *slurps*
Salzella
I practically live on instant noodles during holidays personally, bombay bad-boy every time, though i also like curry flavoured ones. another good ones is to take a chicken flavoured one and add a spoonful of madras curry paste. mmm. JesusIsGonnaOwnSatan
I commend you for your excellent taste What noodles are you referring to, in particular? just that: their noodles! so far i think ive tried these noodle dishes... *grabs menu* their Hokkien Chow Mein, King Prawn Stir Fried Noodles, and of course, their Malaysian Mee Goreng, with the mee goreng topping them all. theyve got different flavours of mee goreng: vegetarian, seafood, and chicken. last time i had their seafood version which was mindblowingly delicious (its not just a shrimp here or there, they really *stuff* it it with seafood!) and on the way out i spotted a tantalizing picture of a dish which is now the next one i shall eat. i cant remember what its called, but looking at the menu i think its either Char Kuey Teow or Wat Tan Ho Fun (<-- hey look, a title with no spelling mistake red lines!) my dad's having some instant mi right now... im geting hungry, but its the last pack! time to stock up again... CommanderQ
Oy, if ever there was a thread that starts up appetites... Mee Goreng is indeed excellent. However, would Pat Tai be counted among noodles?{I think that's the spelling}

SW01
bachelor's supernoodles- Barbecue Beef. They get me going good. Hehe - me too. Easy enough to prepare, don't seem to have so much junk in them as other things (like those god-awful pot noodles...), and goes well with anything! I've never heard of that. Do you live in the US? It's a UK thing.
mur'phon
Well since my school provided me with a wonderfull kitchen, I haven't had to resort to instant noodles. Oh wait, they didn't even provide me with a kitchen for the first weeks, so I lived on wonderfull Russian noodles, made with a "borowed" cofee machine. Once, a friend got me some Maggi ones which tasted heavenly, though considering my diet, that might not be true. Rev7
I think that noodles are mans best friend. I had some warm top ramen for dinner this evening. It is cold outside.
Jae Onasi
When I first started nursing school, I got a job very quickly but I missed the pay-period by 1 day, which means that I worked 4 weeks before seeing my first paycheck. This meant after paying for tuition, room, and board at nursing school, along with books and uniform, I had virtually zero money for about, you guessed it, 4 weeks. The nursing school dorm had a gigantic kitchen with industrial sized fridges and freezers, so I got the leftovers from the nursing school welcome picnic that they were just going to toss in the trash, and stuck those in the freezer. With the little bit of money I had, I got peanut butter, generic white bread, mac and cheese, and a ton of ramen noodles--a meal for 10 cents when you're poor is A Good Thing. I had ramen noodles every day for about 4 weeks, sometimes twice a day. With the leftover frozen chicken, baked beans, and some fruit from the picnic, I had something in the vicinity of bordering on maybe nutritious once a week. The first thing I did with my first pay check was to buy some real food, and I never ate ramen noodles ever again.

JesusIsGonnaOwnSatan
lol! new question: how many packs/cups of your noodle of choice do you have in one sitting? I usually have two packs of indomie mi goreng in one go, though someday i think ill try three and maybe four... i dont think i can take more than four at once! Rev7
Just one packet of Top Ramen is normally good for me, with a sandwich or something else, because those things have *literally* no nutritional value to them.
SW01
new question: how many packs/cups of your noodle of choice do you have in one sitting? Just the one - either by itself for lunch or whatever or as the side with dinner. Two packets of the Bachelors things would just be...a LOT of noodles! TSR
I've never heard of that. Do you live in the US? Sorry buddy, not visited since. And no, I don't, I wave the Flag of England. Darth Avlectus
Y'know, I've cooked up my own udon bowls. It isn't too hard to do or too bad if you get the right stuff, heck, even a fridge cleanout of leftovers works. Mushrooms, garlic, carrots, spinach, celery, some flavored broth or bouillon cubes, either scallops, chicken, turkey, tri tip, or other meat...though I have not tried any kind of pork innit... Yeah, that works well. As far as sustenance, I would not come to rely on it too much. I try to figure in advance what kind of activity and how much, I will have for that day. Less qty and less calories is better for less active days. Would it hurt to go to trader joes every so often?
vanir
My personal favorite is IndoMie's Instant Mi Goreng. Oh yeah, that's the ticket. Don't even have to cook it, just pop in some boiling water to two packets in a bowl and wait, drain and then add the five, count 'em five flavour sachets of oil and chilli and seasoning powder and dried onion and honey soy. Now this is important. You then take one tin of smoked oysters in barbeque sauce, pick them out of the barbeque sauce and toss those in. Alternatively you can use drained champignions. Yum. Best student hostel food ever. Later, when you actually have a kitchen and some cooking utensils, making your own proper pastas with mustard/creme sauce and smoked chicken pieces, fresh sliced mushrooms, a couple of shaves of MerseyValley extra crumbly cheese with pickled onion pieces, plus a sprinkle of fresh grated parmesan, topped with some spring onions and another sprinkle of fresh grated parmesan...omg now I'm going to go cook lunch
