Will O' The Wisq Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 YYYEEEESSSS!!! That certianley cheered me up!
Ataris Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Well, that was an interesting turn of events. I hope this means that the new management will finally start making updates to FileFront. Their interface has not been changed in a long time, and I think it needs some work, along with some backend updates as well.
Sir Vougalot Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 Awesome! Now, if only the Jedi on Ossus could have staved off the Sith onslaught just as successfully...
Sith Holocron Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 I'm glad FileFront is not going away. (I had to re-download all of my files anyway due to a hard drive loss. Now I have everything again but on TWO hard drives!) I'm also glad that the trolls stuck their heads out at the "end of FileFront" so they could neatly separated from their bodies by Shem's lightsaber. Heh.
Drewton Posted April 2, 2009 Posted April 2, 2009 There were a few rumors about this yesterday afternoon. Good news, of course.
Jae Onasi Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Thanks to the folks who bought Filefront back so it could stay up and running, and thanks to all of you who are working on it to get it running smoothly again. I appreciate it!
Maphisto86 Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 http://welcome.filefront.com/ Hallelujah! Whoa... I hope they have a game plan to keep it up. I am guessing Filefront will now be non-profit? Will they use ad-revenue to keep the network running?
Q Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 I'm also glad that the trolls stuck their heads out at the "end of FileFront" so they could neatly separated from their bodies by Shem's lightsaber. Heh. Classic.
Marius Fett Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Unfortunately, Shem's prediction about the pending files was correct. If any of you sent in files to be reviewed before the 'shut down' and they didn't go up on the site, unfortunately you will need to resubmit them, as they were removed from the server. Sorry for any inconvenience caused.
Shem Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Unfortunately, Shem's prediction about the pending files was correct.I was wondering about that. I hate to see my guess be correct, but given how buggy OPS is and the repairs that need to be made, I'm not a bit surprised. I'm still wondering about the mirroring of the files when we review and validate the mod submissions once the resubmissions start coming in. It may not transfer at the moment until more bugs are worked out. Feel free to make a news announcement about that if you would like Marius.
Marius Fett Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 The uploads are working across most sites, for the most part according to the staff forum, but there are still some bugs there I think. I'll make that announcement.
Arátoeldar Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 I'm also glad that the trolls stuck their heads out at the "end of FileFront" so they could neatly separated from their bodies by Shem's lightsaber. Heh. Like whack a mole.
Darth Avlectus Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Good to hear. Though for now I have all the mods and stuff I ever needed or wanted. ...well, except those sims 2 megaman and naruto mods which were never there to begin with. So this means I can come back and comment and stuff? My acct. and passwords are all good?
SW01 Posted April 3, 2009 Posted April 3, 2009 Everything on the end of we the lowly members seems fine, GTA. I too am very happy to see that everything has worked out in our favour, and that FF will remain. Who knows? I may even post there every so often now...
JesusIsGonnaOwnSatan Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 this *was* an april fool's joke, pulled by some unseen master of time. If nothing else this has certainly generated a lot of extra publicity for Filefront. Remains to see if it truly is like they say that "all publicity is good publicity". totally. i intend on joining ff now.
Marius Fett Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Good to hear. Though for now I have all the mods and stuff I ever needed or wanted. ...well, except those sims 2 megaman and naruto mods which were never there to begin with. So this means I can come back and comment and stuff? My acct. and passwords are all good? As SW01 pointed out, everything on the member end is fine. The mod upload system is now bug free, and we're accepting files as normal.
SD Nihil Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 So what will happen to the Filefront forums created during the time before we all knew FF wasn't going away? You know the link on page 4 or 5. Will that forum be closed now?
Mikouen Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 If you're referring to Strategy Informer, they are still going ahead with their network, devoid of any involvement with FileFront or the FF network volunteers.
SD Nihil Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 Now that FF is back, I hope they get to this. In the profile of each member on the sub sites, it says change username and password. But right next to it says (coming soon). And it never has. I hope they get to that again in the future now that FF is fully functional again. I tell ya that is just amazing how fast things were taken care of. And here I thought that if FF was bought out it'd be some time before we got the official word. I'm glad I was wrong.
Wedge Suron Posted April 5, 2009 Posted April 5, 2009 You got a good point SD Nihil, I haven't even looked at my profile on there in years. lol
Marius Fett Posted April 6, 2009 Posted April 6, 2009 Little things like profile customization are pretty low on the list of priorities atm. Number one concern, as far as the network staff are concerned is getting OPS patched up and working like it used to.
