Aash Li
One of my favourite bit-characters from the new movie was the Orion cadet girl, Ohura's room mate. While the hairstyle didnt do much to flatter her, she was quite sexy. So it got me to wondering: Why do so many people seem to like the Orion girls? They were in the original series, Deep Space Nine, and Voyager. And I wouldnt be surprised if they were sneaked (snuck?) into TNG at some point. And out of all the aliens in all the series, the Orions appear to have the most girls cosplaying them.

Revan 411
I saw this movie on the opening day. As everybody have said before, this movie was awesome. It had a great combination of humor, action and drama. Also, Kirk was awesome. The only thing I didn't like was the length. It just felt so short and most of the characters could have gotten more screen time. Never the less, great movie. I'd give it a 8/10.
TKA-001
I saw it yesterday. It was the best movie I've seen this year. I was annoyed by some minutia, however, like phasers being changed into generic sci-fi lasers, the interior of the Enterprise barely looking at all like how it did in previous media, and so on. Most of my problems with it were small look-and-feel-related things like that, but while Nero wasn't nearly as stupid a villain as Shinzon from Nemesis, that isn't saying much, and I didn't like him a whole lot. On the whole, while they did screw up in a few ways, it was a pretty good movie, overall. The family is taking me to see Star Trek for a Mother's Day gift tomorrow. Do they love me or what? Weird. My Mom refused to go with my Dad, my brother, and I to see it.
swphreak
Saw it earlier today. It's a good flick. The whole movie is a "alternate parallel universe story" so it doesn't screw up the Star Trek Canon. It's a nice way to get people who have never seen Trek to see it, and it keeps the fans happy. The only the that annoyed me were all those bright lens glare things throughout the movie. Aash Li
Wrong wrong wrong... its not that. Its explained in the movie. Its canon star trek... but Spock going back in time along with the romulans altered the future. So things got started out differently. Pike isnt an invalid stuck on the Cage world... and Vulcan is a blackhole now... and there are two Spocks. heh
Jae Onasi
I loved the movie. The special effects and cinematography were great. Kirk's one-liners were a lot of fun, and they captured his womanizing swagger without the cheesy pauses. There were different subtle nods to TOS, and some not-so-subtle ones. I thought showing the Kobayashi Maru scenario was great. Point Man thought it was over-the-top. They added new technology ideas, and the plot was a bit thin, thought I thought Nero was believable as the villain. Watching the Enterprise ascend out of Saturn's rings was very cool--the recreation of the fluid dynamics to get that dust effect was terrific. My "Oh God" moment was watching Vulcan blow up and then learning Romulus had been destroyed in a supernova--all I could think was 'they just completely screwed with all ST canon.... It was quite a ride, and the only bad thing is now we have to wait a couple years for this cast to make another movie.

I'm sure they'll "fix it" after a couple of films.
Boba Rhett
The following reasons are why the new Star Trek movie is a bad movie: 1. Vulcan is destroyed. You do not **** with Vulacan. 2. Spock dry humping Uhura in every other scene. Spock does not dry hump in private, let alone in public. He won't rage over his entire planet being destroyed along with his mother because it's a PDE but he'll perform a Vulcan Butt Pinch™ with wanton abandon? 3. Not nearly enough Scotty and Bones. Not nearly enough. 4. Nero's best idea was to wait for 20+ years for Spock to come barreling out of the blackhole exit? Really? Why not do something constructive like, oh, say, taking your 130+ year advanced ship back to Romulus so that they might get a significant advantage over the federation by ripping off their own technology from the future? Or even if he doesn't do that, how about he tells someone that a ****ing supernova is going to destroy their planet in a hundred years or so? His plan to take down the Federation planets does nothing to stop the supernova, which is kind of a hiccup in his master plan. He could have even done the things I just mentioned and then have been on his merry way back to destroying Federation planets. Then he'd get his cake and eat it too. 5. So they have future Spock now. Is he going to warn them about things A, B, and C that they are going to encounter? Is he going to fill the Federation in on all the advances they make in the next hundred years to give them a development boost? Is he at least going to tell the red shirts to get the hell off the Enterprise while they still can? 5. I realize it's a reboot. I do but It still bothers me that this is a reboot that effectively completely wipes TNG, Voyage, and DS9 right off the map making the timeline such that those crews will probably not ever exist. The movie itself is very well done and I liked the characters and honestly, I don't even really hate it.
Aash Li
Its a reboot into an alternate reality. The original and somewhat blah (now with this movie) setting still exists, but theres the parallel ST universe there now as well. Convenient how they explained that in the movie. Ultra-hardcore-Trekkies who nerd-raged over this movie can conveniently ignore its existence and sulk in their basements*. The rest of us will enjoy the new universe. *And no Boba, Im not referring to you... But I do agree... not nearly enough Scotty and Bones.
Commander Obi-Wan
I thoroughly enjoyed this movie. I have never been a fan of Star Trek. But, watching this does interest me a bit into possibly checking out the rest of the series.

JediAthos
I just saw the movie tonight and I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed it. When I first heard about a movie that would show how the crew came together I was intrigued, but after this I hope J.J. does at least one or two more. I thought the cast did an excellent job with their roles overall and I agree with the previous sentiments about Scotty and Bones.
HdVaderII
I have to say, i am not at all much of a star trek fan. Sure, i like watching a couple episodes of Next Generation, but i never really got into it all. On top of all that, I have to say it was possibly the best thing I've seen all year. The characters were great, the effects were amazing (at one point I almost got vertigo at one scene) and the whole space-time travel thing didn't mess my brain up like it usually does, so two thumbs up! :thmbup1:
Astor
As a massive Star Trek fan, particularly of TOS, I was very wary of the film, but, right from the opening sequence, I loved it. Just seeing the size of the Narada compared to the Kelvin was brilliant, Kirk Snr's suicide run was shocking and brilliant. The characters, the sets, and especially the soundtrack, was excellent, and really helped to make the film even better. That said, I couldn't believe - That they blew up Vulcan! Scotty was a great comic relief in the film, as was his stout little companion - "Get down from there!". And Leonard Nimoy, well, it's like, just... aw hell, he was brilliant - i'm glad they decided to bring him back for it. In all, despite being a massive Old School Trek fan, I thought it was brilliant. It's just what Trek's needed for a long time now - it was too suffocated by it's 40 year history, so a new start is welcome, at least in my view. I really hope they make another one, or even better, kickstart a new series.

There has been talk of a sequel having been signed for even before the opening night, after the success of this I'd be surprised if they didn't go ahead with it - but a new series would be amazing! I also really appreciated the TOS theme over the ending credits - everyone in the cinema stayed put until it was finished! And the 'surprise' you mention was really unexpected - up until the final second I was expecting the usual close-run save. Made it even more shocking! And the death of Amanda Grayson, too. We've been shown now that we are getting something totally new - where anything really can and will be done in spite of 'prime' canon. Makes things very interesting indeed! It was kinda disappointing they didn't put it on the beggining, but do it at the end was an amazing homage to the series.

LordOfTheFish
Great movie! I thoroughly enjoyed it. It had my attention from the time the movie started, till the end. As you all said it was a great surprise to see Nimoy acting as the future Spock. I thought the beginning was well executed. That was what really got me into the story, and wanting to know what would happen next. When they first mention Kirks Fathers name I was thinking to myself, "What!? That's not the actor I saw in the commercial...?" Then it all made sense as the story progressed on. I'd definitely give it a 9/10. Far better than Wolverine.
