I play piano. I've been playing for about 7, nearly 8 years. I've actually been playing on the worship team at my church since I was 15, which is pretty cool (and a huge challenge!). Obi - that is so awesome. I've had some experiences like that myself.

I'm also a composer, which is my real passion. I've been working on a number of different songs of late; I'll probably be looking to publish sometime here within the next few years. If I could I'd love to be able to write music for movie scores: that would be awesome!

I play acoustic and electric guitar, piano, and use Cubase to write my own music. I used to play the Trumpet and the Violin.

I'm hoping to take up the Banjo soon, I'm kind of in love with the instrument ;)

I work in a music shop, so I get to fiddle with lots of different instruments when there aren't any customers - trying out the latest Clavinovas is great fun :D

Heh, I was about to post a thread like this.

I play the drums (the whole drum set). I've been playing drums for over a year now.

I also play the Tabla. The Tabla is an Indian hand drum instrument (spelling?...). I've been playing it for maybe 6-7 years now.

My friend is awesome with instruments. He taught himself the guitar from his brothers notes from when he was learning it.

He has been playing the drums (the whole drum set) for 3-4 years.

He is now learning Bass guitar. He is extremely obsessed with music and his only hobby is music. He's been learning Bass guitar for maybe half of a year now..........

what Rhett fails to mention is that his original training was at the "Iowa Academy of Classical Banjo" , where he got expelled for having wild ideas about playing guitars and ukeleles...

i wanted t play classical guitar at teh start of high school, but this snobby bastard of a teacher said that we couldnt get into his class unless we bought a certain type of guitar that was too much for my poor parents to fork out on, not even knowing how seriously I was going to take it.....I ended up gettin put in percussion class, and spent the first 3 years of high school skippin mandatory music class and hanging out with da pretty ladies who were also skippin music class.... :D

Self-taught piano and electric guitar. Kind've. I started having piano lessons when I was little, but carried it on on my own afterwards. I started playing guitar earlier this year, can play various chords, snippets of songs...

Guitar, still teaching myself to play piano, flute (some)... drums... and that's about it.

Tenor sax sucks in our band (from school)- it's too frickin big and heavy. Now, on the other hand, the alto is so much smaller and lighter, and has a better tone. Of course, it all differs in people's opinion of tone. I was going to play alto, but I didn't have the time or money to take up band.

Me too ^_^ (one of the reasons for my nickname bongobob)

I play Snare, Bongos, and full set. I like to play everything from metal to punk to jazz. Just depends on what mood I'm in.

Thought I may as well chuck up some of the other instruments I play. Pretty much any variety of sax, clarinet, piano (to an extent), flute and guitar.

Found a photo of my guitars floating round too.... so here goes :p

Doesn't compare to edlib's collection, but my les paul is worth a packet... probably more than my sax come to think about it. I probably don't give it enough love.

how do you keep them in such good condition?

my poor guitar looks like it's been in the wars. i think my tele was 3 months old when i put the first chips in the paintwork.

9 years later and it looks like its done ten rounds with kurt cobain, jimi hendrix and thurston moore

They only come out for gigs, or for practice. And when they're out, I guard them with my life. The les paul and my guardala sax are my most expensive assets, after my car. Have to be nice to them :D

Not that I ever plan on selling those 2 instruments.... but still, its good to keep an eye on them.

I guess i can be a bit overprotective with them. I'm the only person whose ever touched my sax, after it came out of the shop. Mainly because it's unlaquered and has a sandblasted effect on it, therefore its more susceptive to corrosion from sweaty hands, etc. It's already getting a few noticable spotty areas and its only 3 years old.

I kinda inherited the guitars from my old man anyway, him being the original guitar player in the family. So if i didnt take care of them, I'd be smitten, with a smiting stick.

If i know theres a good chance that my guitar might get banged round at a gig, I'll just use one of the strats.

Is that one of the Anniversary Les Pauls? I think I've seen one of them before. Very nice!

And those look like re-issue Strats, are they not? Or are they REAL vintage?!? Either way: Very Cool!

I like my Strat, but I really want to get one that meets the original specs, like a '54 or '57 re-issue, (since I don't imagine that I'll ever get my hands on a real one at this point.) To me that's what a real Strat is supposed to sound like!

And most of my guitars (and amps for that matter) are hand-me-downs from my dad too! I bought the Les Pauls and the nylon string, and I paid for the PRS (although he's the one who found it and picked it out for me) but everything else is from him.

Of course, he still has all the best ones for himself!

the didge is best played by members of the aborginal community, since it is their traditional instrument, and its very difficult to play ! Ive never tried it, Gonk may have....
